PostmanPete

Hi everyone.

What has changed.

I first noticed an upward bend in my erection about 6 weeks ago. I think it must have come on quite rapidly although maybe not exactly over-night.

I have always had a slight upward curve as can be seen from the first pic below.

I took the next 2 pics on the 25th October then the 6th November.  The bend is just behind the glans so I measured the angle from the centreline of the base, to the middle of the curve then to the tip.  I work it out to be 47 degrees deviation from straight.  I think peoples angles of bend will vary depending on how it is measured.  I don't know if 47 degrees is severe or not (does it look severe to you?), but I guess it gives me my own baseline to determine whether it is getting worse or not.

I can feel a lump just behind the glans, on the upper surface - illustrated by the red spot on the 4th pic.  It is about the size of a tic-tac sweet.  It's fairly noticeable when flaccid, very noticeable when semi-erect, but can't be felt at all when fully erect.  I can't feel any other lumps or lines/veins anywhere else.

I feel that I have lost some length when erect and also when flaccid.  When flaccid and, say, driving or at my desk at work, I can feel my foreskin pulling forward on my penis if that makes sense, almost like my penis is retracting.  When flaccid, I definitely notice more foreskin bunched in front of the tip.  I have always had a bit of an 'outie', ie my foreskin rarely used to cover the whole glans even when flaccid.  Now, when erect, I notice that the upper rear of the glans tends to remain covered by foreskin. I don't know if this is due to loss of length or the curve, or a combination of both.

I don't feel any pain when flaccid, however when erect at night for example, if I 'tense' my penis then I can feel a slight pain in the position where the lump is.

Other than the above, it all works as it should in terms of sensation, ability to gain an erection, and ejaculation.

Possible Causes

I think there is one standout 'most likely cause' for this.  During lockdown I spent 2 years working 3 days a week on my own and became somewhat addicted to edging during those days.  With much shame I admit that I have been addicted to pornography most of my adult life and therefore masturbate regularly.  During those times I would edge for hours at a time, sometimes 3 or 4 hours.  It would never be a constant erection sufficient to cause oxygen depravation, but there would be a lot of rubbing and I would sometimes feel sore afterwards.

I also fell into the habit of using a Hitachi Magic-Wand vibrator on myself.  I would run this along the top of my penis from the root towards the head, tensing my penis as the vibrator got to the edge of the glans so that my penis was pushing against it.  I would always hold it in the same spot, and that spot is exactly where the hard lump is located.  I think that in retrospect, the Hitachi was too powerful (even on the lower setting that I used) and I have done myself permanent damage.

The strange thing is that I stopped using the Hitachi around 2 years ago, so if this is the cause, then I don't know why this has happened now?  It has also been about 2 years since I indulged in regular edging sessions.  Masturbation has since become something that happens quickly in the shower or an occasional 20/30 minute affair.

Worries and Questions

I guess like every chap in this situation, I am worried about how this will progress.  From reading about the condition, I understand that I am maybe 6 weeks into a possible 12-18 month acute phase where things could get much worse, or stay the same, or potentially (but unlikely) get better.

I can live with the bend if it remains as it is now.  I don't like it, but my wife isn't bothered by it and the though of invasive procedures doesn't appeal.  However, I really don't want it to get worse.

I have read the survival guide and a few questions spring to mind.

The second paragraph reads "If you have scar tissue at the site of real damage on the penis that is NOT Peyronies Disease." Could this mean that actually, I have just damaged myself due to mis-use of the Hitachi, and that my case may not be actual Peyronies and may not progress in the same way?

The mechanical remedies, VED and Traction, they seem to be all about stretching the scar tissue in order to weaken it or break it down.  Particularly VED seems to achieve this through inducing an erection.  Does this mean that having an erection is 'good' for the condition as in the act of being erect stretches out the scar tissue?  What about trying to gently bend the penis against the curve when erect - would this have the same effect?

Is it OK to masturbate and have sexual intercourse while in the acute phase?  I'm scared I may make it worse, but also read that the extra oxygenated blood may help?  Also, the Survival Guide guide says "Rough" masturbation is very risky?  What constitutes "rough" masturbation?  I have never used lube and (not withstanding the damned Hitachi) I think my method of masturbation is probably what would be considered as the normal way!

Also, what is 'hard flaccid'?  Is it where the body of the penis feels 'tough' even when flaccid? Not as compressible as before?

What to do next?

I guess I have to see the doctors, just to make sure the lump is nothing more sinister?  I am in the UK and I think a lot of the advice on this forum seems somewhat US centric where you have a choice of urologists etc.

Do any UK sufferers have any local experience to offer in terms of what the journey is like?  I'm worried about having to demonstrate the problem to a stranger - surely you can't be expected to generate an erection in the doctors room!?

Is having an ultrasound pretty likely in the UK?  I read about the PAV cocktail in the Survival Guide - is that something that happens in the UK too?  If I am prescribed viagra for this, forgive my ignorance but doesn't that mean I will be blessed (or cursed) with a constant erection?  Will I be prescribed Pentox in the UK?  If I can still get a natural erection (I can) then do I really need a VED or traction device - wouldn't getting a natural erection for, say, 30 mins every evening have the same/similar effect?

So many questions.  Thank you for any replies.

I really don't think the vibrator had anything to do with triggering this. Or the edging/masturbation. But you definitely present with a more acute curve now. I think you are borderline severe. At least you have a baseline now but if it gets worse intercourse will become a challenge. When you pull out about halfway the angle causes you to slip out without control.
