Hello everyone,

This forum has already been useful to me, but I've now decided to join the community and share my personal problem/experiences.

Age?
I'm 19 years old.

What are your symptoms?
My erect penis is curved towards the left, which makes it look hideously deformed. The angle of curvature is roughly 90 degrees  :'(

How long have you had symptoms?
For as long as I can remember.

What did your medical doctor conclude?
My urologist (and my previous urologist) concluded that it's probably NOT peyronies, but congenital curvature instead. Sex is practically no option.

What treatments have you tried and what were the results?
I underwent Nesbit surgery about 7 weeks ago. My penis is now circumcised (which I don't really mind), but even after a nice recovery, the curvature in erect state is still as bad as it was (no noticeable improvement) :'(! Additionally, it is now bent towards the left even when flaccid (before the operation, my flaccid penis used to look normal). During my two week post-op checkup, I asked my urologist about the lack of improvement I noticed in the first erections I had post-op. He told me to recover first, but that (one of) my stitches may have snapped :( I am planning another check-up and another surgery.

Where are you in dealing with the psychological aspects of Peyronies Disease?
I used to avoid thinking about. I eventually decided to face my problem and I reached out for help: my parents, the urologists and this community. In the months leading up to the operation, I found consolation(?) in the prospects of "a cure". After the operation my hope and optimism faded as signs of improvement failed to appear. This struggle has been an emotional rollercoaster, and nothing in my personal life has been this upsetting.

Are you in a relationship?
Nope, I actually think my problem has kept me from making advances / pursuing love, because deep down I know I have nothing to give (sexually). I can't say I love my penis and I don't expect anyone else to. As for the emotional part of a relationship: I have yet to meet a girl I feel emotionally attracted to. Lust but no love :-\

To end on a positive note:
Everything else is going great 8) Sorry for the wall of text, thank you for reading!

I hate to call your surgery a botch job, but it doesn't sound like one of the most professional pieces of surgery I have ever heard of!

Nesbitt is considered surgery from the dark ages by most here. I would suggest you read he section of the forum relating to surgery to see the experiences of others.

I'm obviously not aware of your financial situation, but if you or your family can consider having private treatment, I would suggest you read up,on the 'Stage' technique. You would need to go to either London or Vienna to be treated.

ThePerfectMelody

I'm sorry that your surgery did not help you! I suggest you find another urological surgeon and go from there. I hope that a new doctor can reignite your optimism for a brighter future.

Dutchman - - I am very sorry you are in the club. My 50 degree curve ended up being congenital,  as determined by a specialist in male sexual health and not the run-of-the-mill  urologists who all said "Yep,  Peyronie's."

I was 12 when I first discovered my curved dock and would go on to feel all the things you feel.

But there is hope, even now. I can appreciate the emotional devastation you have after finally reaching out to your family and seeking surgery, only to be met with this outcome.

Look in the mirror right now and say,  "This is fixable. Unfortunate, yes. Only a momentary set back. Fixable, so now onto the next step."

You are on the right track with Nesbit. As with all things medical, whom one chooses to entrust their body to cannot be emphasized strongly enough - -  especially where the male dick is concerned.

Did your parents research male sexual health specialists or just urologists?

If you will PM me, I would like to offer you and your parents my thoughts and ideas. You can also see my own recent (June 2016) Nesbit results on the Surgery child board at https://www.peyroniesforum.net/index.php/topic,7707.0.html

I would make the same decision again in a heart beat! I am satisfied beyond my wildest expectations. Don't give up, just a momentary set back.

Hope to hear from you and your parents,

John

Thanks for the responses!

To elaborate on the treatment and operation:
I did my own research (including relevant medical papers) beforehand and considered all my options. All professionals I spoke were helpful and concluded congenital curvature, which I already self-diagnosed. The outcome of my surgery is unexpected and unfortunate. It really does seem the stitches snapped. All things considered, it could have been far worse. The odd thing is, I asked my urologist about nesbit with only stitches and NO incisions/cutting (as described in this forum Surgery for Peyronie's Disease > Types of surgeries described here), but he told me that my erections, at my age, would be too strong. For this reason my operation would also involve cutting part of the long side of the curve. So erections snapping my stitches was a concern, yet exactly that appears to have happened ???  I will ask my urologist when I have my check-up in early October. I will also ask him why I did not receive medication against (nightly) erections, which I know exists. After that check-up I will determine what/where my next operation will be (perhaps stage).

@JohnW
I have never heard of a male sexual health specialists before, and I wonder if we have those in Holland... I'll do some more research and have some more discussions with my parents. Success stories like yours and others on this forum give me hope.

It's unfortunate that I have reason to join this club, but at the same time it's great that this club exists. This problem is pretty much a taboo, like many male problems it seems. I only heard of penile curvature (peyronies or not) as something to ridicule before discovering communities/sites like these.

Hello Dutchman,

I am not familiar with the healthcare system there but if it is possible for you to contact and be seen sooner but your surgeon than October I would do so if you believe the stitches have snapped like they feared could happen. I would think this would be something that they would want to see you for.

I don't think you should give up on the idea of intimate relationships. There are other things other than penetrative sex and lots of girls have issues with penetrative sex (we're not the only ones with problems). Lots of people who have no issues with penetration choose to do other stuff together anyway. In any case, intimate relation ships tend to be more about emotional connection rather than raw physical stimulation. It sounds like while your penis may not fit some 'standard' it is healthy and usable. As for a girl 'loving' your penis. People usually love other people and not particular parts of their bodies. It may be a cliché, but I think you just need to meet the right girl. I wish you well.

Hello all,

I've been very busy and I've finally had the check-up I mentioned in my previous post. So apparently I had two ellipses (two excisions) and, indeed, one or both stitches have snapped. This is what caused my curvature to 'return'. It turns out I was extremely unlucky. The stitches should have worked, as they did in cases similar to mine.

Luckily, it's all fixable: My reopened ellipse(s) healed, that is to say, my corpus cavernosum is not 'leaky' or irreparable. Future de-gloving can start on my existing circumcision scar, so no issues there. No big pain or additional abnormalities; I'm pretty close to where I started. Will I give the nesbit operation another try? I still have hope for this route, since my personal experience is probably not representative of the operation and its many success stories. Stitches snapping could just be a case of bad luck and they have suggested stronger or more stitches for my next operation. Feel free to let me know what you all think, my fighting spirit is ready for round 2 ;D!

As always, I will keep all of you informed of my decisions and progress. I may start a new thread by then, who knows. Again, I appreciate all the feedback.

@Cowboy James
I may have sounded frustrated or defeatist. I am open to relationships, but in a passive way to prevent needless disappointment. Thank you for your concern.

ok, so let's see if i got this straight: your first urologist botched your operation saying the stitches broke because the erection would be too strong. Why didn't he put you on anti-erection pills for 2 or 3 weeks for you to heal properly and then go back off the medication, like other surgeons do?

And then, looks like you haven't read much here and want to redo the SAME operation on the SAME surgeon/place. Is this right? are you thinking straight? Well, the penis is not mine, but i would think twice about it, or three times at least and read as much as possible.

Have you at least looked at certain members surgery diaries here?

ArtDude

Dutchman,

Feel free to pm me as well if you have questions. I had my operation this year at age 26 and although it was tremendously successful, I could share some of the healing process insights. You can also read about it in the Surgery > Before and After photos board.

If I were in your shoes, I would def try to look into this asap and maybe even contact Dr Kuehaas in Austria (which is really not far from Holland)

Cheers

35yo (in 2025), I used to have congenital curvature (90deg down curve). I had a successful surgery in 2016 (26 yo) with Dr Egydio. Living happily ever since.
