Hey there

I'm 43 years old, and I think I've had Peyronies Disease for perhaps 2 years. The pain was so bad that at one point I went to emergency and the doctor told me to give sex a break for a while. "It's like having a sprained ankle - don't go running until it's healed. :o. He referred me to a urologist who mumbled something about Peyronie's Disease with no explanation. At that point I had no indentation or curvature at all and so didn't think much of it and just went on my way. I do wish now I'd got a hop on it then - could have done a lot of prevention.

A few month's ago though I suddenly realized the indentation was really noticeable. It was a shocker. Though I do have a partner and we do have sex often enough that I wonder how I didn't notice sooner. Anyways.

I got a referral from my doctor then to a urologist, and he was just as useless frankly. I brought photos to show him and he did a brief exam (I stood with my pants down in front of his desk while he felt me). And concluded yes you have Peyronies Disease. There isn't anything that really works, come back in 6 months and if it's worse or can't have sex we'll put in stints. I asked him if the plaque can ever be reduced or go away and he said no, it's forever.

Anyway, in the last few month's I think the upward curvature has gotten much worse. I just measured it today and I think it's at 70 degrees. Which is making sex more painful, on top of just the erection pain, which has waxed and waned over the last couple of years, but is always there a little. Right now it's a 6/10, but the curvature pain when I'm inside is uncomfortable and distracting. Also making it challenging to get in in the first place.

Yesterday I began taking 3x100 Ubiquinol, 3x1000 Acetyl-L-Carnetine, and 3x1000 L-Argenine.

I also quit smoking yesterday, which was a minimum 20/day curse, and it's likely the reason I have Peyronies Disease in the first place. From what I've read, smokers are 4.5 - 7 times more likely to get Peyronies Disease - the body doesn't heal wounds nearly as well as non-smokers - all kinds of post surgical data on that. And as I know this was a sex injury, it didn't heal like it could have. I know I can quit - I've done it before, and this is major motivation. I'm using a patch just to minimize the physical withdrawal - it's the psychological that's the toughest, and I have a great recommendation for that if anyone's interested. An off topic post perhaps.

My GP, who's a great guy, gave me a prescription for a VED, so now I just need to research the right one.

I can't remember now if you're to use Pentox if you have plaque, or if you don't have plaque. I'm game to get on it if it's right for me. I don't know if I have plaque or not. How to determine. I'm hoping my GP will refer me to a new urologist so I can demand the duplex Doppler ultrasound.

Should I get a scrip for Pentox?

Also, any results known with laser therapy or low light therapy?

I am in a relationship, 5 years in, and thankfully she's fully supportive. She's got some sexual issues of her own matter of fact, so we're quite the pair.

Well that's a bit of a lengthy intro. Very grateful for this forum, for all of the senior members who are contributing, and for everyone who is sharing. Thanks - P

Great introduction! It sounds like you have already done some good homework and have a decent understanding of what you're up against and what to do. Everyone here will tell you "yes" on the Pentox prescription and Old Man will be your best source of information on VED Therapy. Sorry this is happening to you but take heart as there are some outstanding men here who have found their own personal solutions to our common dilemma.

Good luck and God bless!

Thanks Knight - appreciate the message. I'm not sure how to reply to you, or if this is the way it's done. Hopefully you see this. I'll have to look into the whole Pentox thing now. I imagine there's a whole section about it. Curious about dosage and what the side effects will be.

Thanks again.

I read you loud and clear!

If you go to the "Home" page you should see a "Search" button on the upper right side of your screen. Just type "Pentox" in the box and press "Enter" and you should find all kinds of good information on Pentox. I'm taking 400 MG 2 or 3 times a day. I'm supposed to take it 3 times a day but sometimes I get busy and forget. I haven't noticed any side effects but I do think it can be hard on your stomached so I always take it with food and/or plenty of water. I haven't noticed any real benefit yet either I have only been on it for about 4 or 5 months. It doesn't help everyone but it seems to be one of the only medications everyone agrees has some benefit for us. It could be I started taking it too late in the game.

Best of luck!

Are you taking just Pentox? Pentox combined with low dose Cialis seems to help more.
By the way, we know people that Pentox helped/helping but we don't know how many people were worst if not taking Pentox. :)

Thanks Knight and James.

May I ask what the purpose of the Cialis is? I'm not having trouble getting erections when I need to - though there is a psychological aspect that sometimes prevents me from initiating with my lady. Maybe I'll need it when I have to use the VED daily?

I'm asking my GP for a Pentox scrip today. Sending him the suggested studies and PDFs from the Survival Guide page.

And how does one reply to PMs from others, and how do you send an initial one to a member?

Thanks all
Paul

As I have written before, have some evidence that Pentox with low dose Cialis (in your case, as you don't have ED 2.5 mg daily) works better than Pentox alone. Also you are taking Ubiquinol already so except VED I think you are doing everything you can.

I totally agree with James! I'm taking Cialis as well and I do not yet experienced any ED issues. I believe all this stuff, Pentox, Cialis, the VED and Ubiquinol is to assist and improve blood flow down there which in turn assists in healing. I also agree that although I can't really say I've experienced much improvement I have no idea if it could have gotten worse without the use of all of the above.

There are several ways to PM other members. If you click on the "My Messages" tab you can access your PM's. Click on anyone's name and you'll get an option to send them a personal message under 'Actions". Just spend a bit of time looking around and you'll figure it out.

Good luck!
