Has anyone been able to get health insurance to cover the expensive traction devices? I want to get the fastsize but for some reason it looks like they aren't being sold anymore. I guess PenimasterPro looks like another good choice. Since my insurance covers pentox, maybe it would help with traction.

Somewhere back in the archives of the main forum, there is information that states the FastSize traction device was taken off the market.

Try doing a search for the word FastSize and read the posts that this brings up. You should be able to find the post stating that.

Someone that uses traction may come forth with the correct information.

NDFan- Pentox is covered, most likely because it is an accepted treatment for intermittent claudication (bloodflow problems in the legs)-as its perported to alter the shape of red blood cells so they can slither their way through the veins. Traction devices are most likely another, un-authorized device that is probably NOT covered by insurance......only my opinion, but eager to hear positive feedback IF covered.

Thanks. Sure makes it tough to pursue. Lots of money, an incredible time commitment, and just like every other non-surgical treatment, you're hoping for minor changes at most

FYI

Traction Devices are not FDA approved for peyronies. Insurance will not cover non approved devices.

VED's are approved for a diagnosis of ED but not peyronies.

NDfan I picked up a fastsize extender last fall. My uro gave me the contact info to order it. It came with his book on peyronies and a dvd on how to use it

NDfan

Thanks. What did you pay and do you think it's worth the money?

NDFAN- Like JackP said VED is covered for ED. I also got my insurance to pick it up, because it is an approved method for therapy after the trauma associated with prostatechtomy. My Osborn Erecaid Esteem with the manual pump is pretty rugged and I have been using it for 3 and half years.BTW these products and others can often be run through a flexible spending account(pre tax payroll deduction) if you have that set up at work. It's not as good as insurance but tax savings can help. Regards Inkhorn

Inkhorn:

You are right about most insurances covering the VED when prescribed for ED. And, most VEDs are not approved for Peyronies Disease since there seems to be no verifiable clinical trials by the manufacturers. The Augusta SomaSTF and related three cylinder models were sold for Peyronies Disease at one time, but FDA made the company takes them off the market for Peyronies Disease, ONLY ED therapy due to the fact Augusta had no clinical trials to back up the company's claims, etc. It is difficult for me to understand why FDA will not approve VEDs as therapy for Peyronies Disease since there is at least some success rate shown. If only there were some way get a good clinical trial done!!!

Anyway, one must simply check with their insurance company after getting an RX from a GP or urologist stating the VED is to be used for ED and not Peyronies Disease. Some companies will pay and other won't.

@NDfan, I bought it from "US Physiomed" I believe it was about $300 and came with Dr Levines book "Understanding Peyronies", tape measure, post stretch lotion, cleaning cloth, manual & dvd.

It seems to be helping with my condition as I have seen nothing but improvement since I started wearing more often. I wear it for at least 5hrs or more daily if I can. It's relatively comfortable but does take some time to get use to it. I've tried the x4 labs traction device for a bit, but found I liked the Fastsize better in comparison. The 2 are similar. I posted a comparison review on this site if you want more details. If you want the US Physiomed phone number send me a private message. It can't hurt to try calling them if it's what you want.

Just diagnosed as in early acute phase and dr. has me on pentox as well as suggests this traction device from US PhysioMed. he did say its not FDA approved, so insurance wont likely cover, which is fine. Just want to know if its worthwhile? Its 300 bucks and i would need to use it 3-4 hours at night. I have no physical change yet to my penis, just the erection pain and nodule he found. Thoughts on if this is something I should try??

This thread has been idle for almost 5 years....has anything changed with respect to traction devices being covered by insurance?

Go to Dr. Trost's website for his new clinic in Utah.  He is doing video consultations, even with guys from out of state (unless you happen to live in Utah, but if not, no big deal.)  He is the one who developed RestoreX while he as at Mayo.

His office will even run your insurance info to see if part of it will be covered.  It was an amazingly simple process for me, and I'm now waiting for my insurance to come back with how much (if any) they'll cover.
