Hi loe216,
I'm sorry you have to deal with this dreadful condition but you've found the right place for good information. I am on all those treatments you listed and a few more besides but still relatively early days, having only started on Pentox a couple months ago and the VED just last month. It definitely hasn't cured me yet but I have the impression that it's helping and I wish I'd started sooner. It is often said on this forum that Peyronies is a marathon and not a race, so patience is forced on you whether you like it or not. Pentox in particular is shown to be effective in many cases as is the VED and ALC, so at least your doctor is taking a sensible line and that in itself is hundred times better than many men with Peyronies experience.

There are many forum members with much more experience than me who might be able to help with suggestions if you tell us more about your condition, such as degree of curvature and when it started etc. Everybody is here to be helpful and I would suggest you read as much as possible.

hi Ashtown,

thanks for the response.  my symptoms started about 18 months ago with  a palpable 'cardboard' feeling on and below the head of my penis.  i sought advice quickly and sent for an ultra sound scan.  my experience at the scan was pretty awful, i was told that i didn't have penile cancer (that hadn't occurred to me up until then) and the woman doing the scan got very irritated when i tried to explain how my penis just felt different and had lost length and girth.  she was just dismissive of me, i left feeling a bit a fraud.  over the next few weeks, which i now know is the plague, became harder and over a few days the curvature arrived which is about 30%.
again sought help and was referred to a urologist who prescribed pentox 400 mg BD and vacuum.  I'm thinking of adding ALC myself.

i have to say it helps to have found this sight, i haven't spoken to anyone except my doctor about this, I've stopped having sex.  I'm trying to get upbeat and feel better actually doing something, or at least trying to.

best wishes

ashtown

Everybody's experience with Peyronies will be different, so what works for one person may not work for another but there is reasonable evidence to suggest that ALC helps in many cases. I can't really see it doing any harm and the high success rate with Pentox is well documented, though time scale for improvement can vary considerably.

Your key objectives really are to battle inflammation and promote good blood flow. If you look at the list of treatments listed below in my forum signature that is a pretty good overview of the kind of treatments that should help and are certainly unlikely to do any damage. The later you delay treatment the harder it is to reach a positive outcome as the plaque begins to calcify and though I'm far from cured I can say with reasonable certainty that my plaque has substantially softened over the last few weeks, since I started to proactively treat the condition on several fronts.

Regarding sex many men here will tell you that sex is important because it promotes blood flow to that area. I think you have to judge this according to what feels right. Not so long ago if I had sex my penis felt like it was being hit by a sledgehammer and I'm pretty sure it was doing more harm than good but since starting on these treatments it's not nearly so bad as long as I am careful.

A positive mental attitude is very important on so many levels. Many men with Peyronies Disease will shrink into their shells and become depressed but this is the worst thing you can do. I am sure others will chime in shortly with suggestions and feedback.

There have been several who claim positive results with VED therapy. But as Ashtown stated, it really depends on your symptoms and severity. When somone asks "I have Peyronies and will this help" is too broad a question. If you have Peyronies and progress to a 90 degree curve, then I doubt you will get satisfactory results with VED usage. That is just too great a curve to correct without surgery.

You might consider posting additional details if you are comfortable
1. When did your Peyronies start
2. Possible casue
3. Do you have pain (flaccid or erect)
4. How has your Peyronies progressed (changes)
5. Change in shape (Curvature, dents, etc)
