Hi everyone, Im a 35 year old married man with 2 kids and have just been confirmed today that I have Peyronies Disease by the urologist. My penis when erect bends up the way at the end and is softer at the end and is now proving difficult to have sex with little feeling and my wife advises that it is also uncomfortable  :( .... There is still slight pain with the erection but the doctor wants to wait another 3 months to see me again and take in photos.

I guess my main concerns are the doc advised there are 2 operations that can be carried out both which have their risks such as erectile problems, shortening of the penis and total numbness...this obviously has not filled me with much confidence. I have been advised to come home and speak to my wife regarding the surgery options and also to look online in the meantime!!

I am still a young guy, will my wife cope or want to be with me,........

I am really wanting to know if there are any success stories operative or not and what I can do to try and solve this...it took me too long to go to the Doc and I just want to face this head on now!!!

Your advise would be appreciated

Thanks from a worried Scotsman

Wait and see is never a good idea, your best bet is to treat early.

You need to get on pentox, arginine and cialis as soon as possible. coq10 would be a good addition also.

Don't wait three months, either convince your current uro to prescribe pentox or find a new one. Fast.

Did you have an injury?

No obvious injury that I was aware of tbh

None of these medications were mentioned by the doctor, can these be prescribed or is it a case of buying online?

You have an incompetent doctor as many of us had.
Listen to Skunkworks advice and get on treatment as soon as you can.
Pentox is a prescription drug, find a doctor that will prescribed it to you. The others you can buy with no prescription.
My daily treatment is:
2*400mg Pentox – morning/evening will increase next week to three
4mg Cialis (cutting the 20mg in 5pcs) – evening
2*500mg Acetyl L-Carnitine – morning/evening
2*1000mg L-Arginine – evening
2*100mg Ubiquinol – morning/evening. You are young so for you CoQ10 is a cheaper option.
VED, 20 minutes
I am proposing you to invest time to read the forum for better understanding this disease and treatments.

Welcome to the forum

Acetyl Carnitine, l-arginine and coq10 will all be available from vitamin shops or online from places like iHerb.com

Cialis and pentox will need a prescription, you could print out the studies and take them to your uro. You could also order online but I don't think I'd recommend that route as the meds might be expired etc.

First, relax a little.  Everyone here knows this is a concern on many levels but most of us also know there is hope and options.  We are here to make sure you know the options and have a realistic view of them.

Next, I have a few questions.  How much of a bend do you have?  How long ago did this problem develop?  Is your doctor a urologist?

The good news is that surgery is often successful.  There are several surgical options but you are nowhere near surgery at this point so lets start with basics and save surgery as a fall-back option.

Finally your plea to know if your marriage can survive this: since no 2 people are the same certainly no couple are the same.  Some wives hate sex.  Some marriages are falling apart with or without Peyronies Disease. some marriages strengthen as couples work together to confront this.  Some men recover to a "normal" sex life and it becomes a non-issue.  Much of this depends on you and we will talk more about dealing with these things later.

Now, if you can respond to my questions the battle begins and you are in the fight.

Hawk, thank you for you response, certainly a lot more calming.

"Next, I have a few questions.  How much of a bend do you have?  How long ago did this problem develop?  Is your doctor a urologist?"

* The bend itself appears to start about 2 inches from the tip and bends upwards probably about 35degrees - 40 degrees.

* been most obvious for just over a year/year and a half

* the doctor was a urologist but not the one I was supposed to be seeing as she was called to theatre. He was pretty blunt but did not want to dive into surgery just yet. I came away not really knowing what to do as he gave no other options other than to check the Internet unil next appointment in 3 months time ??!! We have a very good healthcare in Scotland but maybe going private may be more beneficial ?

Chambolio,

As I mentioned, surgery is a LAST resort and usually only if intercourse is impossible or next to impossible.  If you get to that stage you do not get a surgeon.  You get a GREAT surgeon.

It has rightly been said that this is a marathon and not a sprint.  It will take a little time just to get a basic education but the forum can bring you up to speed pretty quickly.

I suggest you go on this forum to the Special Boards section.  Under that section, go to the Resource Library board.  There are 4 posts there on Pentox studies. You need to become at least familiar with these studies and take them to a doctor that is open-minded enough to consider the studies and prescribe Pentox.  Your preference would be a urologist that knows enough about Peyronies Disease to know there is a very decent chance that Pentox will help reduce your bend and lack of blood flow to the tip.  Your second preference is ANY doctor willing to consider the data and write the prescription.  Lastly you could go to the internet but I dislike that option.  Typically, doctors that are up to date on this prescribe what is called a PAV cocktail.  James listed the ingredients and extra supplements to consider.

The VED is no doubt a better option for you than traction because you are likely still working and traction is restricting to activity and wearing at work.  Also, since your bend is so near the glans, the noose or strap system would  be to close too the plaque for safety, effectiveness, and comfort. The 3 cylinder VED is your best bet.  You can buy an expensive model or if you are fairly handy with some basic tools you an make 3 different diameter cylinders fairly cheap.  Go to the VED board and start with the Highlights topic then read the other highlighted sticky topics at the top of that board.

As you learn, you will have questions.  You should post those questions under the proper boards and topics.  The guys here will jump in and help.

So, now you have your homework assignment.  Talk to you soon.  ;)
