Plication Surgery in a few days........

I have a 90-degree bend, and it's been incredibly challenging to live with. I'm 62 and have plication surgery scheduled in a few days, but I'm really unsure if I'm mentally strong enough to go through with it. The bend has taken a major toll on my self-image, confidence, and mental health.

I'm concerned about how much length I might lose as I've already lost a fair amount—and about potential complications like erectile dysfunction or numbness. I don't have pain or urinary issues, but sexual activity is no longer possible, which has been difficult to accept.

I guess I'm looking for support and perspective from others who've been through this because I'm torn between wanting improvement and the fear I might make things worse.

Hello TJPD,

I'm sorry to read this. I know what it is to have that awful psychological feeling. Have you thought about seeing a psychological therapist ? It helped me a lot !
What about the RestoreX device ?

Good luck !

Those of us who have had surgery of some sort can relate to what you are experiencing. Even the morning of my operation I was asking myself if I wanted to go through this. I was second guessing myself and was ready to jump off the bed and run down the hall. But I went through with it and very glad I did.

Thanks you - I've reached out to a phycologist as recently my life has completely fallen to pieces - and I've not had any luck with the RestoreX - been doing it for 2 years, and can't I've noticed any results.

Thanks for the message. I did look into this and was informed that with a 90° bend, Xiaflex may only correct the curvature slightly.

Hi I can relate to what you say. The length you have lost is already gone so to speak hate to say this but that was my own experience, I lost maybe 1/5 to  2 inch and my bend was round about 70 to 80 degrees maybe more.
However the surgery changed my life for the positive in every way.  Penetrative sex was possible and enjoyable again. I've never suffered from E.D. other than the bend and all is still good.  I had to be circumcised at the same time, so sure things feel different but different better to be honest , go ahead with it , you can PM me if you want good luck ...
18 months into this. Upward curve of around 70 to 80 degrees.  Have tried steroid cream to no effect. Injury caused by an accident and then resulting scar tissue. Noticeable ridge and shortening. . Had surgery Jan 2024
