Restorex replacement clamp buttons (lock) male/female

Just wondering if anyone knows either how to get cheap replacements for this part or of a cheap way to simulate the locking. I find that the blue upwards slanting "tooth" wears away and will no longer maintain a lock. The company want $25 for these fingernail size plastic pieces. I just can't afford to keep replacing them. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Not obvious on how to change the button. Any possibility of switching the button direction? I keep hitting it and causing it to release the clamp while trying to adjust everything.
