Hi all, I recently spoke with my counselor about Peyronies and depression.  He was clueless as to what Peyronies was!

Just a pair of quick questions.

(1) I'd like to get a quick survey/stats about how many from our group have attempted or "succeeded" at suicide.

(2j Also, how many of us who have experienced depression, which is probably most of us.

(3) Finally, how many of our group have also sought professional counseling for Peyronies related depression.

I'm not sure how to set up a survey, but with permission and direction, I will.

Counselors, apparently, need some education about Peyronies.

Thanks and hope your holidays are great!  I'm going to check online for universal Peyronies stats, but if someone has a website with those stats, please advice.

Thanks, Gary...

When it started for me it was the beginning of covid.. I was very anxious/depressed and thought this condition would ultimately end  in me  losing my wife, family and life.. I got help from 2 counselors .. put it a ton of time questioning my fears  and letting go of what I couldn't control. I got heavily into guided meditation once a day on the insight timer.. I got on Zoloft and I exercised. I talked to my friends and family about what I was going through. Besides my wedding day Peyronie's  is the only other thing my wife has seen my cry from. It made us closer in the end. I know we all come from different means but if the worst outcome is an inflatable boner it's not that bad. I'm glad you are seeking help..My counselors weren't familiar with Peyronie's but both encouraged me
To live from a deeper place.. your bent cock only defines you if you let it.

One other note.. one counselor felt I shouldn't concentrate on the penis I'd lost but appreciate what I have.. He suggested I see my penis like a Picasso painting. It sounds weird but sometimes I actually do appreciate the uniqueness now. I was also depressed about needing viagra now.. but my counselor said be glad it exists. It's all how you see it.. at least that's how I cope now.

Hi Xavier!  Thanks for the thoughtful and candid response.  It has been a battle for me, but my loving wife has eased my most tearful moments.  Traction also made mine worse!  Sorry I ever tried it!  I am on the road to making peace with it through prayer, meditation, exercise, and counseling.  I've seen some good results from Xiaflex and surgery and others who regretted ever traveling down those roads.  There is no certainty in any modality of treatment, but there is certainty in love and acceptance.  I really want to educate my very caring counselor about this unpleasant disease and its emotional ramifications.  Once again, thanks for sharing!

You guys are probably not gonna cure your peyronie's if you're not doing traction. I improved my peyronie's with traction in 5 months so much that I don't have any problems anymore and with time it's gonna get better and better. At first my dick looked much worse with traction but with time it got better and better.

Picture a guy who is out of shape, he has been laying on couch for years and haven't done any physical training in years. Now if this guy suddenly starts to exercise, he is probably gonna throw up and feel sick as hell. Should this guy just say, "Oh well, exercising is not my thing, it makes my health much worse.". Same thing with traction.

There are many people in this forum who don't do anything about their peyronie's and they have suffered for years and they will suffer for a s long as they live. For those people I have to quote Albert Einstein: "Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe."

Hey MustangGary, I'll answer your 3 questions , hope it helps.
1)I haven't attempted suicide, but I have thought of doing it many times. My depression was caused by my gambling addiction as a kid and then as i slowly got over it I got Peyronies which made it 10000x worse so yes I have considered killing myself initially, but I don't think of doing it as I've got a family that loves me.
2)Severe depression, anxiety, being a bipolar  -> Basically got all of them
I guess that what scares me the most and makes me the most depressed is the idea of dying alone, not being able to experience real love which sucks , but a relationship without sex is still going to be unsatisfying for both partners... This is why I'm really scared and why im really depressed. I can't say that I have a big penis like many people here, im just average so losing more length is kinda frightening you know .
3) I sought counselling, but I ended up quitting it as the 2 therapists that I've had were dicks so yeah..I'm basically trying to help myself with meditation and crap like that. Doing my hobbies also help me unwind and just forget about all the Peyronie bs. I took meds for a while but I don't like being on medication so atm im not taking anything ( antidepressants) . Living your whole life with those stupid pills is not the best option but if your mental state is in a really bad state then pills might actually be a better idea. The thing is that i can live without them... for now.
Im hoping that the answers of a 18 yo will help you with the survey. Have a nice day!

Olive I'm glad traction is working for you but unfortunately as you can read on this forum it's not  for everyone.. a lot depends on the location of your plaque and if you can physically handle the pain. The andropeyronie used gently caused extra pain, inflammation and narrowing for me. Thankfully my curve is only 10 degrees so a cure isn't really necessary for me to live my life.
