Hello everyone,

Well, just a question from a member who is newly diagnosed (last Monday.) I'm feeling quite a bit of "flaccid pain" - kind of burning/pain combination. I'm thinking this is a part of the acute phase and to be expected, but many posts talk about pain with erections.

Went to a urologist here in Denver last Monday, and he was OK but thinking he may be new to this affliction (there was a doctor by the name of Mills at the Urology Center of Colorado who apparently specialized in Peyronies, but he recently transferred to UCLA medical center.)

Fortunately, I went in knowing the right questions to ask based on the information in this excellent forum. My symptoms are one "dent" near the base (about 1/3" in) causing about a 30 degree turn to the left when erect. No perceptible plaque lump though, so I'm thinking this is still in the early stage.

He initially wanted only to prescribe Cialis, but I showed him some articles on Pentox and long story short, he prescribed that as well. I'm wondering if the Pentox will help with this acute phase pain, and how long that will take? I'm three days in on the Pentox (no side effects yet.)

Also taking 5 mg Cialis and Ubiquinol. Going to do both traction and VED - waiting on equipment to arrive.

Thanks in advance,
Frank

Read up on Old Man's posts about the correct way to do VED.  It is possible to injure yourself quite easily if done incorrectly.  Also, here are links to Dr's who are more "up" on this condition...

Hello there! It's always good to hear accounts of a Good trip to the urologist. Hope you are lucky with your treatment. Please keep us updated.

Thanks Kuaka. I intend to be very careful with the VED device. I've been corresponding through PM with Old Man about that.

Here is an update. I did review the "in the know" Doctors list prior to making an appointment. Dr. Mills at the Denver Urology Center no longer works in this market. He moved to Los Angeles. That is an update for the forum list.

Dr. Fred Grossman's office is actually close to where I live, but he was booked up for several weeks out. I didn't want to wait that long to get a Pentox prescription, as that seems to be one of the basic treatments. Also, I've been getting some real discomfort in the groin area lately (burning/pain). So I went with another Doctor at the Urology Center.

I went back to the Urology Center today because the groin pain/burning was really distracting me - to the point where I couldn't concentrate at work. They took another urine sample (they thought on my initial visit I also might have a bladder infection, but the lab test came back negative.) I'll find out that result on Monday.

While I was there, I found out this doctor actually did specialize in Peyronies for a while prior to moving on to prostate surgery as a practice emphasis (I didn't see the Doctor today - only the nurse who took the urine sample.) So I'm thinking he will be OK. He said on the initial exam on Monday that I'm not currently a candidate for Xiaflex because there is no tangible plaque lump.

So I think I have a fair shot at an early attack on this disease, and hopefully getting most of my length/direction back. But in the interim, if anyone has thoughts on how to ease the acute phase pain, please pass the ideas along. Today has been a tough day.

Thanks,
Frank
