I am Fred, I live on Eastern Long Island in New York (USA).

I am 57, have recently developed Peyronies Disease and am looking for advice and help for treatment. I am very anxious and have no one I can really share this with. I suspect I am not alone in that here, meaning that I am now not alone?

This presented about 8 weeks ago (that I first notice it anyway). There is upward curvature where it was previously straight when erect, and appears to be some shortening.

Compared to examples I have seen, my case is not overly severe, at least not so far. There is discomfort, short of outright pain, when I achieve an erection. I already had some ED, that doesn't seem to be any better or worse, although I question the safety of using Viagra or Cialis with this?

I am single (widowed), gay, and obviously not about to start dating with this condition.

I have good insurance, thankfully, but I am not so sure about having a good doctor (see below).

I am seeing a Urologist affiliated with Stony Brook University. The only thing he has said is to wait until I have had it a year. Obviously I am not prepared to do this. He says there is no treatment other than surgery for which they refer all patients to Dr. Mulhall at Sloane Kettering. Doing my own research, obviously there is other treatment.

Currently, my self-prescribed therapy is to use a traction device, take Acetyl L-Carnitine, Vitamin D, L-Citrulline in addition to anti-oxidants and my usual vitamins. I am long-term HIV+ (over 30 years), but in very good health, and my blood is monitored every three months. So I probably know more about my overall health than the average person. I work out daily, religiously for 2 hours.

I greatly appreciate a forum where I can talk about this, as well as get real first-hand advice.

Feel free to send a message, and thank you!

Fred

You are right that have many things to do before going to make surgery.
You must find a Peyronies specialist close to you and pay him a visit.
Treated early, Peyronies can be defeated so don't wait.
Check out our doctors list for a specialist close to you.
A good treatment in my opinion is VED, Pentox, low dose Cialis and Ubiquinol.
You have to check with your doctor that treats you for HIV+ regarding Pentox, because Pentox is suppression the immune system.

Age 71, Peyronies from Jan 2009 following penis fracture during sex. Severe ED.
Lost 2" length and a lot of girth. Late start, still VED, Cialis & Pentox helped. Prostate surgery 2014.
Got amazing support on the forum

Hi Fred. First thing that strikes me is your uro giving you poor advice. Try to get an appt with a Peyronies Disease specialist if you can. A good deal of evidence points towards increasing blood flow to the penis in combating the disease, so getting a vacuum erection device for conservative therapy would be a good first step (check out the board for further info). Low dose cialis treatment also has some promising results. I'd steer clear of pentox in your position though, there are records of adverse reactions to it in people with immune system disorders. I've been using Viagra for ED, and have had no problems concerning my peyronie's. If anything I think it may of helped.
