I'm 59 yrs old and after 9 months of injection therapy for ED a month or so ago I noticed a slight curve of my penis to the left when beginning to become erect..It would totally go away at 50=100% erection....no pain..It started to become more noticeable after examining myself I noticed a nodule, less than pea size on the left side.....I quickly called my Doc who said stop injecting and come in for an exam....I call his office after the weekend and find out he's off till the end of March..I saw a URO doc on this forum in the NY-LI area highly recommended..Dr. Zargaroff and made an appt for tomorrow..I swear it seems with each passing hour or day I notice something else on my penis..a slight indentation on the left side when erect and now when flacid...
Can peyronie disease progress that fast?....I'm also on blood thinners for cardiac issues, Plavix and baby aspirin....Can you take Pretox and be on blood thinners??.....
I have been doing VED excersises daily since I saw this...How long do I hold the erection in the cylinder? 15min? 30min?...How often? Daily?....I've read on this forum you may do more harm if in the acute phase of the disease by doing VED...or masturbating?...or having sex?.I started myself on 4000units of Vitamin E a day..I have already been taking 400mgs of CoQ-10 for my heart issues..and began 2000mgs of L-Arginie about a week ago....I don't want this to get worse so I'm grasping at straws so to speak...Please help in any way....I appreciate any help any of you can give. Thanks

Many people ending up here after injecting ED medications. Every injection may cause plaque.
Regarding your questions:
Use VED very carefully, don't over-pump!!! The manual VED is much more safe in my opinion. You have the protocol Old Man had developed and many of us are using:
Vacuum Erection Devices (VEDs) for Peyronie's Disease - PDS - Peyronies Society Forums
You may also PM Old Man, he will be happy to help.
I was taking Pentox for 18 months and taking also 100 mg aspirin daily, but you should ask the doctor. Pentox is not a blood thinner like aspirin, Pentox makes the red cells more flexible so they can penetrate and supply oxygen also to the thinnest blood vessels.
If sex or masturbating is not painful, my opinion is to continue. Was a long debate on the forum in the subject of "use it or loss it"
CoQ10 will not help much in your age. You may change to Ubiquinol.
Be aware that L-Arginine is lowering blood pressure same as Viagra, Cialis etc. You should monitor your blood pressure while taking it in my opinion.

I might add that you never want to hold the erection inside the VED for that long. Be sure to use the protocol and remain unharmed.

THanks so much James for your quick response. I have written down several questions for the Doc and have been reading this forum all weekend..Can peyronies progress so quick?? I don't know if I'm just noticing more because I'm paying attention to my penis so much or if there are actual changes happening before my eyes.......I should add that I'm a vegetarian and have been since my cardiac by-pass....The CoQ-10 has worked great for the side effects to lipitor I'm on..the muscle cramping.....Is it possible to have penile fibrosis and not peyronies? I just got done reading a study from Australia that a significant amount of men who were injecting  for ED had reductions in penile curvature and fibros tissue once they stopped injecting.....I will try and copy and post..thanks for the advice on the VED....I will read the thread...THanks again

In my opinion (but I am not a doctor) penile fibrosis is Peyronies.
I don't know how otherwise to call it.
The fast progression of Peyronies is possible, I had 3 hourglasses appeared overnight.
Quote....reductions in penile curvature and fibros tissue once they stopped injecting
It my be right in many cases same as many cases of sharp bent accidents are not turning into Peyronies.

This is a fascinating study.  And frankly, it confuses the hell out of me.  It makes me wonder if what caused the penile fibrosis - i.e. the injections - is also what helped resolve the penile fibrosis - i.e. the injections.  Crazy.

I know what you're saying... I stopped immediately and wouldn't do it again if my life depended on it... I did so much research before and the incidents were low of getting peyronies... My good luck... I'm hopeful though... I have a friend battling lung cancer this is a cake walk competed to that.

We had a debate in the subject regarding "Leriche technique" that was breaking the scar tissue by a needle.
Is the Leriche technique successful? - Peyronies Society Forums
Maybe this what happening when someone injecting the plaque.
Same with Xiaflex, injecting in the plaque.

Yes, James, that is a very valid point. The part of the Xiaflex trial conducted before they started using the modeling showed a substantial reduction in curvature even in those who received the placebo injection, which was saline.  What saved Auxillium in those trials was that the Xiaflex plus modeling group showed a statistically significant improvement over the placebo plus modeling group.  If the modeling was not put into the protocol, I don't think Xiaflex would have been approved, as the difference in the early, pre-modeling part of the trial was not significant.  Therefore it appears that a 27 gauge needle puncture of the plaque gives a substantial reduction in curvature, with a slight additional benefit if the needle injects Xiaflex rather than saline.  It also appears that the benefit of a 27 gauge needle puncture of the plaque with saline injection is negated by modeling, but the benefit of a 27 gauge needle puncture of the plaque with Xiaflex injection is enhanced with modeling.  Auxillium tried to explain away this observation by proposing that there may have been a difference between the numbers of participants with stable disease in the two groups.  However, the studies with Verapamil injections showed exactly the same effect, namely substantial reductions in plaque size in the placebo groups but greater reductions, usually (but not always) statistically significant, in the Verapamil groups. As there is no known physiologic effect of saline on a Peyronies plaque, it has to be the needle puncture itself, and perhaps the hydrostatic pressure of the injected fluid, whether saline or Verapamil or Xiaflex, which causes the effect on the plaque.  One possibility is that the needle puncture and hydrostatic pressure of the injected fluid causes a wound in the plaque which results in the release of the platelet factors, such as those being studied in PRP injections.

I received some positive news from the URO doctor I went to, who I immediately liked as he showed compassion, concern and knowledge of peyronies...As mentioned on this board under the doc's name, he completed a fellowship in Peyronies disease...I thought he was very thorough and encouraging....I have to thank the members of this board as I felt very prepared today from all the knowledge acquired right here on this board. I brought photographs of my erect penis to show him...which he looked at fairly carefully...bottom line is I have very early on-set of the disease with a 5% curve....he then examined me physically, and noted very early and minimal scarring...so minimal that he is confident he can stop the progression and possibly reverse it....He went over all the options, his goal for my treatment and then explained it. He prescribed 400mgs twice a day of Pentox, Vitamin E, 200mgs Ubiquinol, L-Arginine and VED protocol....He was glad to hear of this forum as I told him this is where I read my information on Peyronies and recieved his name.....due to my cardiac condition he wanted me to stop Cialis and take Sendra whenever I expected to have sex... He said the Pentox would help with erections along with the Sendra...I guess because it improves circulation. I know there are no guarantees but I felt encouraged. he said I was in a good place with this and how important it was that I had sought treatment early....I can only wait and see...He did the usual prostrate exam, blood tests, etc....and thank God for this forum...You all have been great to me...Thanks especially to "Old Man"....I am suppose to return to see him in 3 weeks.....I have ordered my VED on "Old Man's recommendation...I just have to keep in mind what I read here in a thread that this is a marathon not a sprint....

Sure...I received his name off the list in the section here on this forum about recommended physicians. I live in the NY-LI area..His name is Dr. Sherwin Zagaroff, 200 Old Country Rd. Suite 520, Mineola NY..
He is affiliated with Winthrop Hospital which is literally down the street from his office. He was also involved in the Xiaflex trials etc.....His office and nursing staff were just as attentive as he was....I would definitely recommend him if you live in the LI area.. Good luck..if you want more info don't hesitate to PM as well
