hey all.
it is my first post so i wanna introduce myself, I'm memo 29 years old living in Turkey. almost 1 year before it started, i had pain in erection, unfortunately i did not go to doctor because it was not a steady pain. yesterday i went to doctor and he said me i have 2 plaque in top of my penis, have no curved deformation but the thickness of the top part is reduced (sometimes i have pain in erection).
the bad thing for me is doctor said me there is no known cure. he said me use vitamine E and wait.
I'm really shocked and have no idea how this is going impact my life. I'm single have no kid and really afraid.
could you please let me know is it true to do nothing and wait.
are there anyone that have cure experience, is the deformations reversible?
sorry if i wrote long, I foreigner in Turkey and actually have no one to share my situation.

regards.

MeMo:

Welcome to the forum, but sorry that you have acquired this crazy medical condition called Peyronies Disease. Now, about the recommendation of the doctor you saw: RUN, DO NOT WALK AWAY FROM HIS DIAGNOSIS! Find another doctor who is more qualified in diagnosing Peyronies Disease and/or men's sexual maladies. You need to get an appointment with such a doctor at your earliest convenience.

Post on line and ask if anyone in that portion of the world has any recommendation for a doctor there who is more qualified to help you with your quest for help.

Lastly, read all the threads/topics on this forum that contain valuable help with the whys and wherefores of Peyronies Disease, ED and many other men's health problems. I am sure that you will get other ansewers as members read your post and jump in to help you.

Memo,

I am sorry you have a need to look for this forum, but welcome.  There are many caring, encouraging men here who are eager to help.  I accepted the advice of a urologist who said to take acetyl L-carnitine and wait 6 to 9 months.  Unfortunately the ALC did not work for me so I suspect that waiting has allowed further damage.  ALC does help some men, however, so don't refuse it if it is suggested to you.  I will be seeing a different urologist next week.

I agree with Old Man.  Do not wait!  Find another urologist, one who has experience with Peyronie's.  Ask questions, read the stories and recommendations of the men in this forum.

Stay strong,

Pretzel

Your doctor advise is the worst you can get.
You must to act as soon as you can, don't wait.
Have a few very good doctors in Ankara and Istanbul, some of them made researches an Peyronies and publishes they work.
I will try to find out for you as I know Turkey very well, I lived there 10 years, but make an effort yourself also, you have Internet.

Just because you are in Turkey doesn't mean you are alone, or that you don't know what to do for help.

I live in Utah in the USA and I don't have any real specialized people anywhere around me.

Having found this board and reading on it I know there is hope. Don't just hive up, and don't think you are alone in this. And don't apologize for the length of your post. Having this kind of problem kind of takes a bit of explaining. Keep your chin up, and keep reading posts.

Update:

I went to another urologist (Dr. Mohammad Reza Safarinejad) who exactly knows what Peyronies Disease is , he has some articles about Peyronies Disease and we have his pentox article in our forum library.
he said if I am lucky enough and the plaque is not in dangerous position he can remove it and replace with some of my leg tissues to prevent loosing size.
does anyone heard about this? anyone with same experience.
Wednesday i am going to make a sonography to locate the plaque place.
now atleast I have hope to be normal again.

MeMo

Update:
I did a sonography and devastated again, I have 2 plaque each 4 cm ring shape non calcified. my uro said surgery is work only if the total size of plaques are less than 3 Cm.
i did not get any oral treatment yet, and he think that the excision grafting is my only option to get rid of this nightmare.
tomorrow i am going to hospital to investigate the possibility of surgery.
guys your comments are really important for me, what do you think about my situation.
I will be thankful if anyone who already did excision grafting share his experience with me.

regards.

What is the reason Safarinejad has not prescribed you Pentox? Or have you already tried that.
As far as I recall the plaque in the Lue articles were even bigger and calcified. So why not give Pentox a try if your plaque aren't even calcified.

This could turn out to be a blessing too. At least you are getting armed with facts about your condition and moving forward to resolve the situation.

Beats guessing and throwing everything under the sun at it with a hope and a prayer for improvement.

God bless you and best of luck!

I was given the whole "take vitamin E and see me in 6 months" approach too. From what you guys are saying, I better find another urologist. It's been about 2 months for me. I am also taking propolis but I haven't seen any changes. I live in montreal canada. Anyone know a Uro here that is specialized in this type of thing?

Norm

"Take Vitamin E and come back in six months" is the standard advice from Uro's that are just not up to date on Peyronies Disease treatments. Unless you want to wait for him to learn, you need to find another.

From the doctors list:
22. Ottawa, Canada - Dr Anthony Bella
Hes a really good doctor and recommended him. I go and see him every six months.
23. Canada, Toronto - Dr. Ethan Grober at Mt. Sinai

oral treatment:
2x400 mg Pentox; 6x500 mg Potaba + vitamin E;

Safarinejad said my main problem is the thickness of plaque (4mm) and he hope the Pentox can help me to reduce it to 2mm during 12 months.

could you please let me know can I use VED if my situation is not in stable phase?

james1947

MeMo

In my opinion yes, you can use VED.
Just be careful not to overpump!!!

@MeMo: Good to read you are getting the Pentox. I would in these 12 months maybe think about the possible surgery and also consider the long term risks and consequences of this grafting procedure.
Btw.: the Potaba is a little on the low side. Recommended daily dose is 12 g / day.
