Am 50 years old, diagnosed with Peyronies August 2011.  Been holding a lot in and just battling with this myself and figured it is just my burden to bear.  Have been married for 31 years, I love my wife....this has affected our relationship for sure.  A urologist suggested an implant, my doctor suggested surgery by only (2) doctors that he would trust, counselor says no on the surgery and to try the Thackers treatment.  Anyway, I don't really know where to begin or what to do at this point.  My Peyronies Disease reality has only come to the forefront recently and seriously as my wife felt I was more intense and aggressive in my personality unlike me before Peyronies Disease was with me.  Any advice is welcomed.

Welcome to the forum, Fredman.
Mine only appeared about the beginning of this year, and it wasn't till March that I started looking for info on the web.
It did take a bit of an effort to talk to my wife, but a 50 year happy marriage, where for us sex has always brought giggles and a sense of the ridiculous as well as pleasure, did make that a bit easier.
I hope your able to talk to your wife about it. I found an analogy to describe the pain which made it very clear to her what it was like.
"Imagine hitting your thumb with a hammer, where the pain is instant and acute, but then slowly dies away. Well, this is the other way round, where the pain builds up, and reaches a peak at the moment of ejaculation. Bit off-putting, to say the least, so our sex life has been reduced dramatically.
But then it wasn't of Olympic standards, anyway.

Keep well,
John

If you do not suffer from a sexually disabling curvature, or from E.D. then I think surgery would be regarded as the last resort here.

Your Doctor is correct in advising you to be very cautious about who should allow anywhere near your penis with a scalpel, too. Should you feel you need to go down that road.

My advice would be if you are still able to function sexually, and you do not suffer from acute pain, to try taking Pentox, supplemented with Alc and Arginine. Possibly add 5mg Cialis if you wish. I would see what improvements you may get with that before resorting to the knife.

Fred,
I think we all agree that surgery is a last resort, even the guys who have had it. But that does not mean that it is NOT a resort. But before you do it, please read this link and see if you wouldn't like to try something less aggressive.

Btw- Thackers Formula has no documented evidence that it works.

I totally agree with Norm. I would be interested in your counselor's background that he/she felt qualified to suggest Thacker's formula. You are among friends here who have what you have, have tried many things, and feel somewhat knowledgeable an what to do or not to do.

Much depends on your symptoms, your onset, your degree of curvature, and whether you experience any pain. We all experience similar but different symptoms.
