Hi Gentlemen,

I'm a 28 y/o gay male who was recently diagnosed with Peyrone's three weeks ago. I've had some mild congenital curvature since birth (25 degrees downward) but this later morphed into Peyrone's after some additional trauma.

Symptoms actually started about a year back after an episode of rather aggressive oral sex. At first I experienced only painful erections near the exact point of the congenital curvature but the bend steadily increased and the pain never subsided. This has left me with a 40-45 degree downward curve.

A subsequent sexual experience left me with another curve about 30 degrees to the left.

The past few weeks have been emotionally jarring to say the least. I've currently started on CoQ10 as per the recommendation by my doctor. I'm living in Boston and have been seeing Dr. Michael O'Leary. I'm told that he is well versed in this area.

Sexual performance has always been a mild issue (I would occasionally pop Viagra for better / longer lasting sex) but recently with the diagnosis and further development of symptoms, I think I may need to take Cialis full time to avoid impotence.

I also find that I've been shying away from any sort of sexual encounters recently.. Something that I know is bad but I can't yet seem to break this funk.

At this point, I'm holding out for Xiaflex but haven't ruled out a nesbit (as this could also correct the congenital curvature).

I'd say it's far too early in the game to even consider surgery.  I've been on Pentox and L-arginine for 3 days and already see a lot of improvement to the scar tissue and lessening of pain.  With what is available on this forum I've concluded that for myself I merely want to arrest the progression then work on eliminating the scar with meds or supplements and most likely I'll use a VED to correct deformities.  I'll rule out any surgery until it's the absolute last ditch effort and I'd have to be in extreme need to go that far.

I will suggest you as BillyBob2 wrote to think about surgery as last instance.
You may want to try out some additions to the CoQ10 for a while.
Read the forum to see what other solutions people have found.

CiscoKid85,

When did your Peyronies symptoms first appear. The reason for asking is that surgery shouldn't be considered until at least 12-18 months after first conditions appear. This is due to the Peyonies is in the "Acute" stage. Meaning that it is still active and could progress during this time. You now have complex issues in dealing with Peyronies in addition to a congenital curve.

So while surgery is about the only solution for congenital curvature, you now need to wait until the Peyronies stabilizes. I would encourage you to read up on VED and/or traction therapy on the appropriate boards on this forum. You may want to consider this therapy to keep your condition from worsening and maybe even reverse your current Peyronies condition.
