I'm new to the forum and, in fact, this is the first forum I've ever joined which should give some indication of how seriously I take this disease that has happened to me or maybe that I caused to myself. I'm 56 and my Peyronies Disease began 14 months ago. The onset was, it seems to me, classic with painful erections and a steadily increasing bend of my penis. I was distraught and got little support from my wife at the onset of the symptoms. In fact, I got the opposite. We are now separated, which has been pretty rough for both of us.

My visits to my urologist and family practitioner resulted in similar futile suggestions about the curability of Peyronies Disease and so I set off on my own to comb the internet in search of treatments, eventually figuring out, with the helpful discovery of a thread from "Old Man" and his story of success, that the VED was the most promising route, with supplements of pentox, colchicine, vit E, Prostamax, and Mahayograj Guggul (an ayurvedic product to address joint inflammation problems). I also began taking cialis to increase blood flow to my penis, hoping that would address the onset of calcification. After about 3 months, I also began weekly accupuncture treatments, again to address the inflamation issues associated with Peyronies Disease and also stopped eating nightshade foods for similar reasons. I did not start the VED process for about 3 months because of problems with my wife, but when I did, I began a pretty regular schedule of using it every day and then 5 days per week on average.

After 6 months the inflammation with erections stopped and the upward bend in my penis stabilized at 30%. I have had the hourglass indentations 2 inches below the head of my penis from the beginning. The bend has not gone away, however, and sex, which was great before, became complicated. This was and still is depressing for me, although I'm thankful that at least the bend is upward and not downward or sideways.

On my last visit to my urologist two months ago, I was told that my situation is what it is and he would not renew my pentox prescription, so I've discontinued that. My colchicine prescription also ran out, so I've discontinued that. I'm starting here with this forum because I'm hoping that with some support from other men with Peyronies Disease I'll be able to correctly and consistently continue with a regular and daily VED practice. From the posts that I've read, it seems like that is the most promising 'solution' for someone with my pattern of Peyronies Disease. Like many others, I would like to reverse the bend in my penis and get rid of the hourglass indentations. For now, anyway, I don't have problems getting an erection, although my erections are not as long or as hard as they were before the onset of Peyronies Disease.

I have been using a single cylinder pump that I bought from Boston Pump but after reading the posts about the complexity of pumping and the possible dangers, I'm concerned that I might damage myself more with an inferior tool. Given the financial hardships that I'm facing with my separation, $600 is a lot of money but I only have one penis and want to be healthy. Can anyone tell me their thoughts on the safety and efficacy of using the kind of basic pump that I'm using? i would also like to try to master the 3-pump method but was wondering if I could get similar 'results' with a one pump system.

I am sorry for your troubles and welcome you to the forum.

For starters, while a pump is not a pump, a vacuum is a vacuum.  The vacuum placed on the penis by one pump is no different or better than a vacuum from another pump.  The problem with a cheap single cylinder pump is not so much that it is riskier than an expensive single cylinder pump.  It is more a matter that it is cheap and will break.  It may be more clumsy to operate, and it could have rough edges or something but that is doubtful.

Granted cheap pumps never have a guage on them but neither do many expensive pumps.  I think most men know when the have pumped too much of a vacuum.  The penis will become over engorged, the glands dimpled and afterward you will get little blood dots on the skin.

If you are handy making stuff, Angus has plans on the forum for making a VED for less than $100.00  If you are interested then go to this link. I am using a simple not medical grade VED because the medical grade is not available where I am living now. I am following the single cylinder VED protocol posted on the forum with no problems. Have to be careful as with the medical one and not overpumping. I have gained back 1/2" from the 2&1/2" lost to the Peyronies. It sounds not too much, but I am continuing.
The three cylinders VED may be better for the penis straightening, you can follow Hawk's advice in the subject to make a low cost one.

Regarding Pentox, you can buy it online if you can afford it financially.

They are selling also Cialis, I am cutting the 20mg in 5 pcs to save money, so daily 4mg

So glad that I found this thread!  I used to drink as much as 2 pots of coffee every day.  I'm finally down to less than a pot of coffee, frequently only 1/2 pot.. maybe 5 cups.  I would rarely drink water.  Now that I'm taking a handful of pills I have a whole glass of water at pill time.  Since I've become concerned about my health and nutrition I've hardly been drinking tea at all and have hardly had carbonated beverages (Sodas) more than occasionally in the past several years... unless I'm tying one on with rum & coke to get the nerve to sing karaoke!  It is very relieving to read the articles BrooksBro posted.
I work outside a lot and much of the time I'm drinking gatorade for the electrolytes.  However, a lot has been written recently about the negative effects of the sports drinks concerning sugar and other ingredients.  So, I've slacked off on those drinks as well.  Now I have my occasional beer, 5 or so cups of coffee, 1-2 glasses of milk, and maybe 3 glasses of water every day.  Overall I'd say that I'm in good health but with age I see a lot of changes in my body and skin tone...(I'm beginning to get saggy and baggy in the face, age spots, wrinkling and somewhat thinner and less soft skin).

This is for James1947 and Hawk,

Thank you both for your replies to my post and I appreciate the advice. Since I made my first post, I have kept using my simple cheap Boston pump but did not modify the protocol for a single cylinder VED as you, Hawk, suggested. I will begin trying that, though, since I have not had any noticeable improvement in the past year even though I use my VED almost every day, for 20 minutes at night. The only good news is that the bend in my penis has not seemed to become any worse and has remained the same. I also was taking, until recently, 5mg of cialis every day in order to increase blood flow to my penis. I'm very careful about how much I pump up my penis, and never do so to the point of pain, maintaining anywhere from 80-90 % of erection for the 20 minutes. I would like to reverse the bend which is still about 30%, however, because it affects my sex life. In fact, I went from separation to divorce partly or maybe largely bc of my peronies syndrome. The good news is that I found another woman who is much more understanding and accepting. But that makes me want to straighten myself out even more. If you two gentlemen have found out anything else that is helpful that might reverse my 30% and the 'hourglass' deformity, I'd appreciate the advice. I've given up the pentox but am willing to try that again if either of you think that it is helpful. Also, what do you think of vitamin E? I used that for almost this entire past year but quit recently bc of an article i read that claimed that taking too much vitamin E is really dangerous.

I'd like to add that during the past year, because of this 'disease' and my failed marriage, I've begun practicing more yoga just to get my blood flow working better and to address the rest of my inflexibilities, so to speak. The added benefit is that practicing more yoga has helped me to better deal with some of my psychosexual concerns.  I've also just begun doing manual stretching exercises in the morning. I 'pump' at night.

Once again, thank you both for responding,

Vajrahasta

For me, the Pentox, low dose Cialis and VED had made improvements. I can't say that the improvements are drastic, but in my situation any small change in the good direction is very welcome.
Regarding vitamin E, the opinions on the forum are divided. Some (like me) think that is not helping for nothing, some think it helps.
I am suggesting you to read the topics regarding vitamin E at:
