Dear brothers,

As a technologist and someone who has followed science my entire life I want to encourage all of you not to lose hope.  Since this condition affects an estimated 1-10 (estimates on prevalence vary) men on this planet, we can be assured that SOMEONE SOMEWHERE will finally come up with a drug or treatment that will work.  The pharmaceutical companies use algorithms to determine the cost-effectiveness of R&D related to any condition.  This degree of prevalence means that it is on the radar of many researchers.  Science moves rapidly (if not here in the United States, but elsewhere) some determined research scientist will find a cure for Peyronies Disease and for Fibrosis.

I've lived through the HIV epidemic when the world was certain there would never be a cure for HIV or AIDS, now with gene editing (CRISPR), they have reported curing this disease.  I'm extremely hopeful for all of us, but especially for the younger men on this forum who have lost hope or for those young men who feel that there is no hope.  Rest assured, there WILL BE A CURE or an extremely effective treatment.

Please don't give up and do not lose hope.  Science will come through for us!  Technological advances seem to be exponential in nature, this means that a cure or treatment that REALLY works could come soon.  In the meantime, use the resources on these boards to educate yourself and to be as informed as possible.  There are success stories on this board!

There is always hope.

This would be wonderful if it does actually happen! My question is what price tag they are going to attach to it?? $$$$$  We must remember just how long cancer has been around and all of the billions of dollars invested into finding a cure. I have always wondered if they do find an actual cure for cancer wouldn't the drug companies be hurt by all of the lost revenue for cancer treatments that they sell? Just a thought.

Despite its prevalence and doctors being aware of the condition for over 200 years, It ultimately comes down to how much money can be made by a medical provider / pharmaceutical company off the back of development for such a treatment.

Given that, on paper at least, it's not life threatening and only impacts a limited number of the male population...do you really think they are going to make it a priority?

One can dream of course but I feel like in reality, they are probably going to invest their time and resources into treatments they deem to be more lucrative.

Implants are a fix - or compensation - but not a preventative. In fact, it's too unlikely to get, or to anticipate getting Peyronies Disease in the first place, to even look for a preventative.

But implants are expensive. SCAN insurance did pay almost the entire $80K for mine, leaving only ~$400 out-of-pocket. But mine was the most expensive surgery I've heard of and I'm sure it's more affordable elsewhere - outside of SoCal. And if a low libido (ED) is a part of your problem, TRT will probably address that as well.

The implant is a godsend, seriously better than the original equipment :)
