Should I abstain from masturbation / sex if I get stinging pain after?

Ever since I first started experiencing pain, 6 months ago, I've noticed that it does seem to be more intense after sexual activity, like a sunburn under the skin, where the plaques are.

I also noticed that on Cialis, the pain is amplified and as a result, had to stop the medication.

My theory is that prolonged erections are stretching the tissue around the plaques. Then when Cialis is added to the mix, it turbo charges the effect, making the pain even worse.

I'm aware that Peyronies feeds off inflammation and it almost feels like erections are repeatedly tearing at scar tissue...preventing it from truly healing. Maybe thats why the acute phase lasts so long?

I'm now wondering if I should just abstain from all sexual activity and masturbation? Has anyone else tried doing that to see if it makes a difference? ...It never seems to be the advice from Urologists and I think I would drive myself insane not being able to ejaculate...but if its worth it in the long run, I might give it a go.

As a side note, oddly, I never get pain during erection. Its always after, usually in a flaccid state and I have to take NSAIDs and apply a warm heatpad to help calm things down.

Any thoughts would be most welcome!

I would suggest in continuing with the Cialis as it does help fight inflammation and bring fresh oxygenated blood. It also gently stretches your penile tissues so you can try to keep as much length and girth while having peyronies. While doing this though I would keep your sexual activity to a low and see if things improve or not.

My Urologist advised me to stop Cialis and said that the evidence for its benefit with Peyronies isnt so  significant that I should just keep powering through the pain.

I would consider re-retroducing it at some point but not until the pain has subsided enough. Even at a quarter dose, my body treats that stuff like rocket fuel. Its very intense.

Sorry to disagree with your Dr but there is a ton of personal evidence that Cialis does help in regards to peyronies. Is your Dr a peyronies specialist? They are very hard to find. If you like your physician maybe you could print out our survival guide and give it to him to read. Then see how he reacts to it? A lot of us here have ad to go through a lot of searching for the right Dr. Now if you are in acute pain then you need to find a way to reduce it with either Advil or other drugs. I suggest trying out heat therapy. It helped me with my pain and it is very easy to do. Good luck. :)

Two separate Urologists gave me the same advise, Dr. Katz and Dr. Love, arguably the most recognised Peyronies specialists here in Australia. They were not saying there wasn't any evidence that its useful, they prescribed it initially after all.

It was more just highlighting that the difference it would make in my case specifically, as someone without ED at present and regular nocturnal erections, isn't going to be significant. Certainly not enough to cause any noticeable improvement in my curve or plaques.

In my mind also, I would much rather be in less pain, with less inflammation, allowing me to focus on routine traction.

I already use NSAIDS and heat pads - Thanks, they do indeed help :)

I could possibly explore microdosing of cialis - I wonder if anyone has tried that? e.g. 0.5 mg

If I recall there have been many members who have used micro-dosing with Cialis. Possibly 2.5 mg EOD. Yes traction should be incorporated into your healing plan as this will help in reducing further length/girth losses and you can possibly gain back what was lost.

For me, even 1.25mg (5mg cut into quarters) was producing erections too intense so I might see if it's possible to get a script for a lower amount.
