Depression ( stress) and Erectile Dysfunction
« on: May 01, 2017, 07:46:27 AM »

Hello,
I stopped taking L-arginine when I found out that I have Peyronies Disease. It was 2 months ago. Since then my Erectile Dysfunction has deteriorated significantly, even though I am taking PDE5 and Pentox. My Erectile Dysfunction is related to L-Arginine or rather because of high stress?
Before bed I take trazodone 75mg, but it does not cause nighttime erection. What is wrong, is stress so strong an antagonist for erections?

Sincerely I dont think the stress is preventing your nocturnal or mornings erections, it seems more like venous leak or arterials problems, especially the first because with venous leak pills and injections will work bad and the nocturnal erections will be worse

So, with the venous leak PDE5 will quickly make it even worse? So does it make sense to take Cialis 5mg every day before bedtime (Sildenafil 25mg)? Does VED make no sense at venous leakage?

Hi!

IMO strong stress is the major caues of immune system regulation failures (what Peyronies Disease is  actually). It usually comes later in age but after chronic severe stress one may develope the same disturbances early in life. Stress is causing lak of nocrurnal erections, Erectile Dysfunction etc. Stress is causing inflammation. Stress ceases inflammtion to abate. I wrote several times on this forum - if you want to control Peyronies Disease you will HAVE TO find the way to manage your anxiety and stress levels. Antidepressants are of help in a proper hands but it is more like building the dam while flooding. In a long run what helped me was a sort of relaxation/maditation practice that allowes one for re-arranging of regulatory systems...

I doubt that any logical advices would help (that is why i suggest starting ptactice asap to get back to reality) but try to think the idea that a man is not always equals his sexual function. Finding a reason to live and to be happy in our current crcumstances is probably the most profound taks one may accomplish. Pershaps we may not have even a chance if not Peyronies Disease onset. Try to turn you sorrows into something that fuels a better person within, fuels the taste to life you would not get otherwise....

Good luck!

Wladyslaw............instead of taking the trazodone try taking Ashwagandha.  A lot of people say that ashwagandha helps them to relax.  Trazodone to me is worthless. I have taken it.  Just a suggestion, but it may help you.  dplookin

Stress absolutely can affect nocturnal erections, jumping to thoughts of venous leakage is not helpful at this point. "What is wrong, is stress so strong an antagonist for erections?" Yes, absolutely yes.

The problem with the place you are in right now is that there is a bit of a doublefeedback cycle, which is really hard to break.

The condition of your erectile function stresses you out, the stress makes your erectile function worse, which stresses you out even more, and so on.

STA made a very good post. You have to manage that anxiety and stress. Sleep, regular exercise, meditation, sunlight. Anti-depressants can help, but most have sexual side effects, a member here got some very bad side effects from Prozac for example.

I am afraid, however, that it is not stressful. I have no night or morning makeup for at least 6 months. I am convinced that I have damaged my veins (circulation), so my hands and feet are numb. My Erectile Dysfunction and Peyronies Disease is due to nitrogen oxide (L-Arginine). There is no rescue for me !!!

Hey Wladyslaw, just wanted to tell you that you're not the only one with a seemingly hopeless situation. Most of us struggle with this and VED, cialis and pentox are rarely the be all end all cure to this issue. I think we all hope for a brighter future with more treatments available. I'm going a little off topic here, but I also see you mentioned an implant and how you don't think it's right for you. I also don't think I'd be happy with an implant so I choose not to have one either. I know it's hard, but try to forget about it for now. There is no treatment RIGHT NOW, but I put all my hopes in regenerative medicine, stem cells and other more futuristic approaches. (google dr.Atala, mail his team, just believe he will cure us) It's right around the corner, we just have to sit it out. I thought about suicide too, but what if the cure will be available in say 5 years??? Are you sure you could just let that chance slip? Let shame get the best of you and ruin your life? I feel ashamed too, but the thought of me killing myself, leaving my family behind (the only one's that actually care) and others not giving a crap about me or my condition enrages me enough to continue. I'm gonna live till the day I can be cured even if it will take 20 more years and I'm an ugly bald F~@<, I don't care. I will sit it out and not let my feelings of shame take over. Please do the same, because there will be light at the end of the tunnel.

Except that panic and freaking out cause exactly those symptoms.

Fight or flight, that response draws blood away from the extremities. It causes the exact things you are talking about. You want to attribute it to l-arginine despite countless others using it to benefit or with no ill effect, but have you asked yourself why you want to do that, when other explanations work better?

Can venous leakage in some way have an erection for sex? Is there only an implant?
Thank you in advance for the information.
With venous leak is hard maintain the erection, in some cases not only hard, it also can be very hard, with venous leak you will need direct stimilation in your penis to get an erection and continue and in some cases a lot of stimulation to maintain the erection which you will have premature ejaculation probably. You could try with cock rings, in any cases the venous leak is minor and pills work well but in many others this is not so.
In many cases with venous leaks the only solution is the implant, it could be so in my case, because if pills and injections(injection with peyronie is a no-no i think) dont work, the doctors wont have another solutions, maybe you could try a ligature or embolization, sclerotherapy or maybe shockwave(In my opinion shockwave dont usually work well with venous leak, but yes with arterial problems)

I dont know if you have venous leak but it seems to look like it, but you could have arterials problems or damaged nerves, you could do some proofs to know your problem (maybe cavernosography, doppler, mri, arteriography) but if you have Peyronies Disease and Erectile Dysfunction due to peyronie the most probably is you have venous leak I guess
