Ohjustgreat

Happy to have found this site.  Not happy that I needed to find it.

Well, woke up this morning with about a 45 degree (guessing) erection.  Traumatic to say the least, as just a week or so ago everything was normal.  No pain, just the bend to the side.  A little history: early 50s, no medical issues other than apparently this, plus Dupuytren's contracture (DC) in both hands.  For that, had surgery on one hand and Xiaflex injections in the other hand.  Researching Xiaflex 2 years ago when looking for answers to my DC is when I'd first heard the term Peyronies, never imagining that one day I would have it.  Xiaflex worked for the hand, but cords are redeveloping.  Surgery worked for the other hand, but I understand that DC is something that will almost always return.  I am assuming that it is Peyrinies that I have, given that so many with Peyronies also have DC.  Questions I have initially are:  should I make an appointment ASAP with a urologist and is a urologist the first professional that I should be seeing?  I put off having my DC looked at for too long after I first noticed it and that is why I needed surgery in the one hand (the other hand was caught early on, so only Xiaflex was needed).  I don't want to wait and see what happens with Peyronies before I have it looked at and regret later that I should have had it looked at sooner.  You know, you wake up on a Sunday morning expecting to have a nice cup of coffee and read the paper like you always do, and then something like this blindsides you.  Then you have to try to figure out how to break the news to your wife of 33 years.  Thanks all.

You need to find a urologist that specializes in Peyronies. Not just any urologist will do. Many of them know how diagnose Peyronies but don't really know how to treat it. Be proactive.... don't wait.

Welcome and sorry to hear the news.

If you have dupuytren's as well, you must be very predisposed. Get extremely serious about your blood sugar, and treat yourself as if you have diabetes. Begin supplementing with anything that will block tgf-beta and see a specialist. You will likely benefit from low dose cialis and pentox, or any supplement such as CoQ10, Citrulline, ALCAR, etc.

Physical therapies for Peyronie's are extremely valuable tools as well, these are traction and VED therapy. You may not need surgery, as it's a last resort, so see what you can do with the physical therapies and oral medications / supplements first.
