I'm Spyros from Greece and I just -one day ago- officialy diagnosed with Peyronies, after my urologist felt the plaque under my shaft ... Tonight I 'm doing the doppler triplex with the hard on ejection to have the accurate picture.

I had mild pain during erection, for about two years now, but, by that time same touch examination in the doctor revealed nothing. It was during the present year, that  I started noticing the bent which is now around 30 degrees. My erections are -in general- good and I just have pain only if this erection is being obstracted by any mean (usually and for example when I were my pants and have a hard on).

I 've been reading many topics in this forum, over the last week and i now have a full idea about the basics.

I would like to join my powers with all you good people, fighting in common this akward problem.

Given that, in this part of the world where I reside, there no medical /drug evolutions as in the US, I hope that I can realize many benefits from your accumulated knowledge.

Finally, i have a very important question :

I saw many members, struggling through the last years to try any oral or massage treatment, being desperate not having any actual postitive results. I understand that surgery is the last choice, but for case like the ones I just desribed, I just wonder why they don't proceed. Is it that -finally- this solution is very risky ? I read some urologists websites here in Europe, promising total cure without any bad side effects. Why all the desperate people won't be willing to try it ? is it risky / costy /or something else  ?  I mean, If I were to a stage where only darkness is in fornt of me, and thoughts about giving everything up are flooding my mind, then surgery should be tried ? Or not ?

Thnx for your attention. Wish to all of you the best of luck.

Hi Spyros -- About surgery, you're asking great questions. I had the same reaction when I first encountered the forum. I had to remind myself that this is a site where anybody can share anything, and not necessarily have to substantiate their claim. And, mere opinion is often offered as fact.

Being that we're talking about the male dick, there is also a lot of passion, emotion, and reaction -- for good reason! hehe

These are not criticisms of the forum or our members, these are just attributes of such sites. The real benefit is that if you want data, there is plenty here to sift from. A gold mine.

At this point in human history, we all can agree that going under the knife is not generally the first option for ANY kind of condition. But, when it came to my own curved dick, and when I discovered in 2015/2016 that there are options, I did the research and went straight to surgery.

I am happy to report that in June 2016 I had Nesbit surgery. My post-surgery recovery has been wonderful. I am keeping a diary here https://www.peyroniesforum.net/index.php/topic,7707.0.html.

Very soon I'll be making another update in the diary. Thumbnail summary: The first six to eight weeks the basic healing is fast. Pain reduction and wound healing happen quickly, and time seems measured in hours and days. Throw in some male psychology, obsession over one's dick, and post-surgery euphoria, and waiting became the hard part (that's a pun). But time goes by fast. Before I knew it, the first six weeks were over and the surgeon cleared me for having sex again.

But, just because you are cleared for sex does NOT mean the healing is complete. In fact, the process is far from over. I'm approaching the four month mark after surgery. I'm having some GREAT, MIND BLOWING sex with this straight arrow of mine but the internal healing around the cut line continues forward without incident, and each week I can state there is remarkably less discomfort. I've cried tears of joy as the healing progresses. Time is measured in weeks and months for this phase.

Me and my happy straight dick wish you the best! Feel free to message me if you have questions.

Regards,

John

Spyros;

As you say, surgery is considered the last resort here. There are risks attached, as there are to any surgical procedure, but they are as minimal as possible if you make sure you choose a highly experienced surgeon. If your curvature is not too bad and sex is possible without discomfort or pain you may wish to wait and see.

You will discover more about where you are with the disease after your ultrasound scan. If there is any calcification, etc.

If you do decide to go,the surgical route, I would suggest you look at The Egydio Technique. I had this done in London last November. I'm very happy with the results.

As John W. says, true recovery time room surgery is months. But worth it if you want your sex life back.

Dear Jonbinspain,

Thnx for your kind input.

I did the triplex yesterday, the situation (for the time) was diagnosed as benign, as the calcified part is only 3 mm, however, there is a fibrosis (hope I chose the exact English word for this) that is 2.5 cm.

I'm pretty worried if this fibrosis can become calcified. Since now with the just 3 mm calcified plaque, I have a curvature of around 25-30 degrees, I cannot even imagine such a perspective.

Jonbinspain

Spyros;

Yes, fibrosis is correct. I assume this is fibrosis of the tunica?

25mm is a fair sized amount of fibrosis. I would suggest that you investigate pentoxyffline and PDE 5 inhibitor such Cialis. Both of these have been shown to help with penile fibrosis.  Talk to your Urologist.

Thnx again

Unfortunately, I visited my Uro who recommended 12g of Potaba & Vitamin E. This intake per day is huge and I keep reading about side effects.

Also, I understand the European DA only endorses Potaba.

I 'll definately go on with the 3 cylinders VED and some supplements (arginine / carnitine / enzymes, etc). However, I also consider pentox.

Antoher thing that I really don't understand is the difference (if any) between Potaba & the (supposed physical form) Paba. Perhaps if the latter is also giving some results with minimal side effects, I could combine it with pentox and the rest.

Any opinions ?

Hi Spyrosg,

Im Alex from Spain (39 years old). I´m in a similar case than you. I ve been diagnosed (with eco-doppler) with 3 plaques, one of this about 15mm x 7 mm, and 2 more proximal but smaller than that. the plaques are located in the left side and one of them in the dorsal, doing that my curvature go to left (30-40 degress) and upward (10-15 degrees) a bit. Well I benn diagnosed one week ago or so. I  realiced that mi pennis started to curve 4 months ago, and althoug i was surprised I decided let it like that. I never felt pain neither problems to have an erection, but being concerned about that issue decide to go to urologist one month ago.
I have study a lot about peyronie diseases in order to understand what happens to me, but there many reasons and treatments available.
I have to go to my doctor to evaluate what kind of treatment is going to be better on my situaton, but for the time being Im taking just two things E Vitamin (E forte) and Magnesium chloride, yes this kind of oral thins could dont anything but I think they are not going to make any bad on me.

For the time being i dont know about whicj is going to be next step, I will posted you in order to share things and try to put together  interesting things. What I can say is that I would try to wait the surgery (dependind on each case), but at same time surgery is best way to resolve the problem. Question is...what kind of surgery? thats the point. I ve heard stage technique (surgery) could be interesting as a less invasive approach (less than nesbit), please anyone can correct me...is what I ve Heard no more. As a non invasive treatments I ve Heard xiaflex (collagenasa) its being effective but i has some side effects....so many doubts...

best of luck spyrosg, we will keep in touch.

Alex,

Surgery should be your last option. Not everything works for everyone. Some things work on one person and not on another. I went through all of the supplements, pharmacutical meds, traction, VED with little to no results. I will say traction gave me stronger erections and VED increased my length about 1/4 inch in 6 weeks and not using it as rigorously as Old Man suggests. I am now finished with my 1st cycle of Xiaflex and am two weeks away from starting the modeling protocol my URO suggested. Personally, if I had it to do over again, I would opt for Xiaflex sooner rather than later. My URO said Xiaflex hasn't proved to be very successful with people that have calcified plaque and I would think the longer you wait the more likely you plaque will calcify, but that isn't necessarily always the case. I am 15 months in and my plaque isn't calcified.

Alex -- You're kind of hijacking Spyros' thread.

Not everything works for every one, as QuackAttack noted. If you have months or years to experiment, you can do supplements.

I wasn't interested in that approach. Once I made up my mind that I was going to do something, then enduring one, two, or potentially more years going through all the supplements and experiments only to wake up and find little to no results -- which is an absolute possibility -- wasn't of interest to me.

Getting results was more my thing. I chose Nesbit surgery, and I AM SO HAPPY THAT I DID. RESULTS! My story is here: https://www.peyroniesforum.net/index.php/topic,7707.0.html

Don't let anti-surgery comments throw you off. Do your research, there are plenty of surgery success stories. But, not every surgeon is qualified to do penile repair, any more than every urologist is able to speak to Peyronnie's. I've said it many times on this forum: Fear of surgery is a Dark Ages mentality.

Frankly, it doesn't matter whether it is surgery, supplement treatment, or some other procedure. You want to be working with a specialist. And, when it comes to the male dick, you want to be working with an andrologist or male sexual health provider. Lots of free advice here on the forum so take the time to read it.
