New to the forum:

So, I am seeking some Sage advice since a number of you have been around the issue of Peyronies for a long time. A little about me: I will be 51 in December, 6', athletic 170lb and I am supplement religiously with Youngevity's line of products. I have recently developed Peyronies, about August. I don't recall any kind of injury as many MD's suspect as a cause of Peyronies. Trying to look back I may have heard a click during intercourse with my wife, but I can't say for sure one way or the other. I first noticed a very small curve in early August 2015, maybe 5-10 degrees upward during intercourse and didn't think too much of it, a week later I noticed the curve was significantly more pronounced maybe 40-50 degrees and I jokingly referred to it as curly to get a laugh from my wife; however, after intercourse that time I went to my computer and did a bunch of research. I input unusual bent penis into a search engine and BAM, Peyronies came up. I read quite a bit on it including NIH stuff and other medical sites that paint a very doom and gloom picture with surgery, not something I intend to do. I have not had any pain to date. I purchased a Peyronies Disease Assessment Device, PDAD to track my curvature. Currently, my curvature is ~50 upward.

I have noticed that people are not keen on DMSO and many of the other protocols out there, like what is on John Parks site.

What I have done to date:
Size Genetics Penile Traction Device
Youngevity XeraTest (Testosterone supplement) 2 tablets, once a day
Blockbuster All Clear (Serrapepase & Nattokinase + other stuff) 3, 3times a day
L-Carnitine 1000mg per day
Topical: Vitamin E, Potassium Iodate and DMSO 50% w/aloe wrapped after 5+ minutes of a hot pack (got this from John Parks site)

I planned to follow this protocol from Robert Redfern a Brit that I have a lot of respect for based on a lot of people calling into the Power Hour Radio Show saying how his products have helped them tremendously.  Peyronie's Disease Health Plan - Powered by Naturally Healthy Publications fusion Help Desk Software

One thing I saw on John Parks site was that he was taking gelatin in large concentrations for joint pain based on Dr. Joel Wallach of Youngevity. John thinks that contributed to his Peyronies. I would like your thoughts on this. My Peyronies came on after I upped my supplementation of what Youngevity calls Gluco Gel, which has gelatin in it and I was taking 2.5 grams per day. I have since stopped that for fear that it might be the culprit. I was taking it due to joint issues from years of pitching and catching.

Also, I saw somebody on your forum that said they have had results with Acupuncture. Your thoughts on that would be great.

I, like what John Parks said, want to launch a full scale attack with everything I can, remain positive and pray that the Lord has led and will continue to lead me in the right direction to eliminate this. While I am not a big fan of conventional MD allopathic medicine, I would take a conventional med if I knew I could get results from it. I would like to know about Pentox and any results from this and other standard MD protocols.

Also, I have noticed that I am waking up with very strong nighttime erections since beginning my protocol and I have noticed about a 1/2" increase in my girth, via measurements, although no change in the curvature yet.

Thanks,
John

My first advice would be to get to a competent urologist asap. You need to know how advanced the disease is. You can find a list of well regarded ones on the site.

This affliction is very hard to quantify, and what works for one may well not for another. But Pentox is regarded as being in the front line of treatments here.

Peyronie's (PDS) is essentially a fibrosis issue.  The cause of the bend is scarring on the Tunica.  For a humorous and informative presentation on penis anatomy, watch this Ted Talk...

One thing I have noticed recently, and have started a supplement to counter, is that Magnesium deficiency is a common characteristic of most, if not all, fibrosis conditions...including Dupreyne's, Pulmonary Fibrosis, Cystic Fibrosis etc...  Magnesium deficiency is also a result of modern American farming techniques, which strip Magnesium from the soil and result in deficient foods.  I am using both Magnesium Chloride and Magnesium Citrate in my efforts to counter this deficiency...which coffee contributes to as well.  Caution with Magnesium Citrate, as it tends to be a bit of a laxative.

I also was taking Chondroitin Sulfate/Glucosamine supplements for joint pain for years, and these are thought to be a potential causing factor as well.  I was in a wheel chair before starting those.

The earlier you start treatment the better your results.  Consider traction and/or VED along with the meds/supplements.  Old Man is our resident VED expert, but he is also dealing with ED due to prostate surgery, so his use includes for general erection purposes.

Find a URO who is expert in this area.  These links can be a start.  The ones on this forum include experience members have had with them.

Hi, I have peyronie's for 6 month with multiple deformity, however I do not have any obvious plaque and ultrasound approximately 2 months ago showed nothing. My penis is a right mess and is deformed in both flaccid and erect state. I have to be very careful all the time as pretty anything can cause deformity. I also have constant pain but no erection problems actually quite the opposite as I also suffer from priprisam  (semi  hard on that is intamitent). SO it seems that it is not just plaque that causes deformity

It appears that magnesium is something that people are now indicating as critically important for recovery. I supplement heavily with the Youngevity Mighty 90 which includes Magnesium. However, I am going to up my dose and I would like to know what dosage is considered most beneficial. I plan to take it in 250 mg doses and spread it out so my system has a level amount all the time and I don't get a MG flush.

Also on the topic of VED, can anybody explain why this is beneficial and how it would differ from traction, which I am doing.  As far as traction is concerned, what is most important, more tension or more hours in use per day?

This is from the The Office of Dietary Supplements (ODS) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH)

Table 1: Recommended Dietary Allowances (RDAs) for Magnesium
Age                     Male    Female
Birth to 6 months 30 mg*    30 mg*
7–12 months       75 mg*    75 mg*
1–3 years           80 mg    80 mg
4–8 years           130 mg    130 mg
9–13 years          240 mg    240 mg
14–18 years       410 mg    360 mg
19–30 years       400 mg    310 mg
31–50 years       420 mg    320 mg
51+ years           420 mg    320 mg

Just remember the RDA for vitamin c is just 60 mg per day which is a joke. Years ago the British Navy found that if a sailor ate an orange or other fruit once per day that scurvy was held in check. However the optimum level for healthful nutrition is much more than 60 mg/day.

Both VED and traction are intended to stretch the plaque.  VED has the added benefit of bringing fresh blood, and therefore oxygen, into the erectile tissue.  Properly used...that is cycle up, down, rest, repeat...it can increase available oxygen significantly.  "healing" is always better with ample oxygen.  VED has the added benefit of not needing to "grip".
