My name is Steve, and I'm 62 years old. I'm actually not new member, but never made any posts until now. I was diagnosed with Peyronie's in 2010 after noticing a slight bend to the left and narrowing at the base of my penis. The urologist didn't do anything; said take vitamin E ( which did nothing). Tried acetyl l-carnitine after diagnosis for many months with no noticeable effect. Found another urologist about a year later, and he also did nothing as far as treatment. The narrowing at the base of my penis spread upward toward the head with a significant loss of girth.
I finally found a urologist who actually treats Peyronie's in Pittsburgh PA and he put me on Pentox. Took that for several months, with no noticeable effect. The Dr. said maybe that was because my Peyronie's was too advanced. He prescribed Cialis, but my experience with that at 10 mg was not very impressive. I can still get erections on my own; they just don't last very long. Am wondering if I'm one of those men that the ed drugs do not work on. Will take 20 mg to see if that has an effect.
If I can maintain an erection, I feel my curvature is not so severe that I can still have intercourse. I do not currently have a partner, and haven't had sex since my diagnosis. Psychologically, the thing that bothers me the most is the loss of girth. It's like the head and the area immediately below look like a normal adult penis, and the remainder of it looks like it did when I was 12 or 13 years old. Talked to the Pittsburgh urologist about Xiaflex, and there is a lot of red tape in getting treatment started--the doc needs training, and all sorts of forms need filled out as the feds are watching this drug closely. Even if I could get treated, I'm not sure I could afford it. The doc said results with Xiaflex are modest at best.

You say that you have problems maintaining an erection. Have you been checked for venous leakage?  If not, that may well be the cause.

If you've tried Pentox with no success, then orally it's hard to know what to suggest.

I would recommend that you investigate VED therapy, it has helped a lot of guys here with regaining girth.

Thanks for the input. I had another recommendation to try VED, so I'll definitely look into it.

Some men are "non responders" to PDE inhibitors (Cialis). These man may benefit from taking L-Citrulline or L-Arginine, or even Pycogenol.

Regardless of if you can get an erection on your own, increasing nitric oxide for the penis to use will ward off further fibrosis and improve arterial function as studies have shown. Cialis has been studied in this regard, so has Arginine and Citrulline. Citrulline is the one you want to take. Pycogenol has been studied for ED as well.

Remember it's not really about ED anymore, it's about minimizing fibrosis and potentially reversing it and improving your penile health on all levels.

This can be done through targeting your endothelial health (arterial and vascular health), and Citrulline, Arginine, Pycogenol, CoQ10, and even ALCAR have been shown to do this. A multitude of supplements and healthy foods can help your penile arteries. Pentox as well, it may not seem to help, but we know scientifically, it must be helping on some level.

Many of us have no improvement until taking these things long term, I think Tom Lue said you need to take Pentox for 9 months before you see results (correct me if I'm wrong).

The bottom line is that almost nothing can simply improve the situation overnight, over months even.. It's a very very stubborn disease. I recommend VED and traction as well. It's of course your choice what to take. There is no right or wrong, but in general I would say to keep trying everything, and be willing to experiment within healthy limits. Improve your overall health as well.

Stay strong! hope to see your voice here on the forums.

Thanks for your input. I had other suggestions to try VED and will look into that. Have taken CoQ 10 for years for heart health. Never heard of Citrulline, so I will get some info on that.

could you post info for the pittsburgh doctor who prescribed you pentox?
