New Guy

Hey everyone! I was recently diagnosed with Peyronie's and was referred to this site by someone on another forum. Just wanted to introduce myself to you all as this seems like a good community of guys trying to help each other out..

I am 23 years old and was just diagnosed last week by a Urologist. I just sort of picked this guy off the list provided by my insurance carrier, did not get a referral from my primary doctor (as my primary doctor is my grandfather, that would of been a bit too awkward for me lol). This started approximately 8-10 weeks ago when I started having pain in my erections. This pain was pretty severe and during every erection. Pain came from the top of the shaft maybe 3/4 way towards the head. The pain has since seemed to move to the same spot but along the left of the penis. Either way, the pain has decreased significantly, but is still there and varies every time. I have since seen a slight curvature towards the left, seems that the penis shifts that way now. The urologist I saw asked me a series of questions and felt me up, he said he felt a small hard spot deep in the penis, which he believes is the scar tissue formation. He told me the best thing for me to do at this point is just take 400 u of vitamin e once a day, so I have been doing that. He scheduled me for a follow up in 2 months to re-evaluate the situation. As far as my psychological toll from this, I think I have been doing pretty well. My girlfriend of a few years is the only person I have told this to, and she has been more than supportive, only issue is our sex life has taken a dive, not because we cant have sex, but because of the physical pain of my erections that makes sex not so enjoyable. I will be really bummed out if there is no improvement in my condition, but I could live with it, I just really don't want it to get any worse.

Thanks for reading my story, I look forward to getting to know you all better.

Everything you have described certainly points to Peyronie's. As you seem to be in the early stages of the disease, I would advise that you get to the Urologist as quickly as you can. It will hopefully be possible to at least halt the disease's progress.

In the meantime, read everything you can on this forum so that you are well acquainted with the most used treatment options. I.e the ones that are helping  the most for the majority of guys here.

You also want to be as knowledgable as possible on this subject as, sad to say, a lot of Urologists are pretty clueless about treatment options.

Hi New Guy
Vitamin E is not enough. Although some improvement has been demonstrated sometimes, it is not always very strong. A better treatment is Trental (pentoxyfylline). Please ask your urologist about this, but not in two months. The earlier the treatment the better. You may in fact want to see another urologist, in order to compare.

New Guy,

Our collective experience is that vitamin does nothing to improve Peyronies although it seems to be the text book response by many doctors. You need to find someone who specializes in treating Peyronies disease. And also becoming proactive yourself with the therapies outlined on the forum.

You are in what is called the acute stage, and the pain should diminish after this. There is a drug called Pentox which is also effective for treating the pain.
