I've been suffering from severe ED for over 10 years and last week I finally went for a second consultation to a good urologist in my area. I told him about my symptoms which was severe ED, no sensation, curvature etc. He examined my penis and just like the previous doctor he said I have severe phimosis (stage 5) and need a circumcision and if that doesn't work he will do a Doppler.

I am not very keen to do a circumcision and I'm certain the cause of this is due to Peyronie's from prone masturbation. He also prescribed 10 mg cialis and 25 mg viagra. So
Far the cialus is only giving me a partial erection haven't had the Viagra yet. Just wanted to know should I go ahead with the circumcision? Do you think it's impacting my
Erections in any way ?

So when you say severe then you cannot pull any of your foreskin back over your glans? I
am not educated in phimosis and it's treatments but I would ask questions about how much foreskin is going to be removed first before attempting this surgery. Remember that a lot of your nerve endings are in your foreskin area. hopefully others will chime in on their experience with this.

Thanks for your reply Mike. Yes, I cannot pull it back at all but it's always been this way. But I remember I had no problem getting erections when I was a teen. Doc is saying this could be the reason for my lack of sensation but I'm not convinced and like you said removing my foreskin could mess up my sensation even more.

He said he will first do the circumcision and if it doesn't improve my erections then they will do a Doppler. This is the second doctor who has suggested the circumcision.

Same for me my urologist suggested i get a circumcision but I definitely do not think that is the issue

As I never had a problem with it before

Also It doesn't make sense how is removing the extra skin at the top going to fix the sensation on my shaft???

The head yeah maybe but the rest of the penis I don't think so

Personally I think it might make it more numb

Well your shaft doesn't have a lot of nerve endings. Your glans has thousands of nerve endings. I am sure it is subjective with each individual. The foreskin that is removed during circumcision removes a lot of nerve endings.

Mikel7: I agree with you. Supposedly, you get adjusted after a circumcision sensitivity wise. I can't recall exactly if phimosys is a cause for ED but it could be very painful if the foreskin doesn't retract enough. It certainly shouldn't help with erections if the penis has a hard time expanding... According to him, it is stage 5. So I would say... Get a second opinion. Double check with pictures online and if it all adds up... Get it done if you feel comfortable in your doctor.

I suffered with phimosis for literally years and although I could have sex, I always knew something wasnt quite right.  it wasn't until I was 24 that I had a circumcision to address it.

Like you the skin was always forward and felt very uncomfortable if I tried to force it back. You have to understand that while this might be normal for you because its all you have known, it isn't how a normal penis should function.

As soon as the surgery was done and I healed up, it made a massive difference. I was so much more confident in myself and sex actually felt normal.

As for the nerve endings, it genuinely wasn't any less sensitive. It just felt different. Once you get used to it though, it's just as pleasurable as before.

...was just bad luck for me that I ended up getting Peyronies aswell, which is far more difficult to treat.

When it comes to surgery, maybe just enquire as to the type of circumcision your Urologist is proposing. Some surgeons just eyeball it, resulting in an uneven scar line. I believe there are surgeons these days which use laser technology, for cleaner look.
