39 yo, single, not in a relationship. Painful erections November 2015 (approx),Visual symptoms started May 2016. Saw a Urologist June 2016. Dr did physical exam concluded peyronies. At the time there was only one area of scar tissue. Said wait 6 months and come back. Gave no instructions for treatment. He advised that since I'm not trying to father children that it was purely a cosmetic problem. Felt very dismissive.

Recently pain has progressed and now there are to distinct places of scar tissue (both on my left side, in line with eachother) and  curve is more distinct. Painful erections at night wake me from sleeping and pain occasionally throughout the day while flaccid. Never took pictures or measurements, just basing curve increase on visual change.

I do not have insurance. Psychologically I feel very very isolated, overwhelmed and paralyzed with fear. I need support and advice. Have read several of the getting started articles and quickly found my self in panic and hoplessness.  There is so much information on this forum I'm finding it difficult to navigate. I've held all this in for so long. Felt deformed. Do not want this to get worse. Please advise what to do, as I am working with no insurance and a part time wage. The only doctor at my disposal is one at a free clinic. The urologist I saw earlier this year was too expensive to see again.

Firstly, welcome. You are amongst fellow sufferers.

Don't bother with the idiot of a Uro you saw, he's clearly a waste of time. His attitude, unfortunately, is all too common amongst a certain part of the urological community who don't begin to understand the physical and mental effects of this disease.

I would suggest that you look through the list of well regarded Urologists here on the site. There may well be one in your area. I'm not from your country, so I don't completely understand what level of treatment is or is not available to you without insurance. Just do not waste any more money on the idiot you saw!

In the meantime, be proactive. Don't wait anymore, the time to act is now!  Read the sections on oral treatments, traction, VED.

Lastly, for now, all the guys here have been through, or are going through the same things as you are. We will help all we can, but you need to have that fight inside yourself to battle this, too.

Hey there,

like Jonbinspain said, read the different sections. It's a bit overwhelming at first, but you will find confidence, even when dealing with anxiety. Speaking of which, this is a big problem you need to tackle early on. Anxiety will make things worse, as you're tensing up, diminish blood flow and the stress levels fiddle with your immune system.

- Get on a anti-inflammatory diet. This is cheap. Cut carbs. Cut processed foods.
- Do sports. Also cheap, start running or swimming.
- Stop smoking, if smoking. If you can't, try vaping. Though nicotine will still counter vasodilation (like coffee does), you are decreasing your blood viscosity and increasing oxygen delivery to the tissues, in contrast to smoking.
- Drop your stress levels. Meditate, get outside, do fun things.
- Get regular erections without applying too much force or ejaculating too often.
- Measure. Your. Curve. You most likely overestimate it. I felt I was around 40°, when really only 15-20°. Brains suck :) Measure regularly for progression monitoring.

Out of all the treatments, Cialis and Arginine helped the most in reducing pain for me. Read up on oral treatments section for further information.

Accept your current state. No "It was so nice in the past.". It's like it is now. It's your current body state. Don't deny it. You can only work on things you accept.
Act on it! Set a small goal and work towards it. In the end, this should be improving overall, but as of now, maybe less pain would be the next step.
Read up on manual stretching, as this is cheap and effective in the beginning. But don't overdo it. Small steps. Only when flaccid and warm.

You are on a similar timeline as I am. The pain got better recently. There are still times it flares up, but I enjoy the days without. You will do, too.

Last but not least, like Jonbinspain said, don't waste your time on a doctor like that. I know these, too. You'll only pay money to get frustrated afterwards. Either see a specialist, or get a good GP to prescribe the meds to you.

It's not a fight against your body. You'll have to work towards your goal with it in synergy.
