Good to start with a G'day I guess.

Age? 51
What did your medical doctor conclude? Just get used to it.
How long have you had symptoms? 3 months
What are your symptoms? Almost 90 degree angle pointed up.
What treatments have you tried and what were the results? Vitamin e and something else. No results.
Do you have insurance or means to get medical treatment? Yep
where are you in dealing with the psychological aspects of Peyronies Disease? After a first few weeks of depression I tend not to think about. When I attempt to be intimate with the wife I get a bit depressed. This leads me to not really wanting sex.
Are you in a relationship? yes, 20 years.

Firstly, thanks to everyone sharing their experiences. In a way it gives me hope. It is all a bit depressing as first I am living overseas and dealing with this in a 2nd language. And I have also been dealing with dick stuff for about 15 years. For many years doctors thought that I had prostate issues but turned out to be a narrowing of the urethra from scar tissue) probably caused by a bad bicycle accident as a kid. So for the past 15 years or so I had a lot of emergencies where I needed emergency catheterizing and for the past 2 years I have had to pretty much self-catheterize every 2nd day to stop the narrowing. If I don't the pee flow gets pretty bad within a few weeks.

Basically the doctors told me that I would need to catheterize for the rest of my life unless I had reconstructive surgery of the urethra. neither they, or myself, wanted to do that. Slowly I got over having to stick things where they shouldn't got and was feeling fairly well adjusted.

Then suddenly overnight I woke up a few months ago with probably a 70 degree bend that has continued to worsen until it is almost 90 degrees. The doctor prescribed vitamin e tablets plus something else but he also told me to not expect any improvement. I took it for a few days but basically just gave up. Even though I can easily get erect without pain I have basically lost all interest. After attempting sex again tonight for the first time in weeks I am wondering if there is really any hope and if I should just put that side of life out of my mind. All a bit too depressing to think about.

Hey Dan! You're in Osaka? I live near Tokyo and have been here for the last five years. Welcome! I'd love to hear what you're doing here.

I'm sorry about the bike accidents, I also had several of those and it resulted in me having a very sore pelvic area. Low and behold, my Peyronie's is purely on the bottom side of my penis. 51 is young enough to go for improvements! Some of our members are in their 80s and are doing well. Do all your research and post here often. In my case, manual traction and supplements improved my penis immensely and smoothed out my curve and indentations. Still working on it though. I responded to your other post on pde3 inhibitors, and might merge this topic with it.

Thanks for the response Neo.

Here since '91. Working for an NGO.

Are you dealing with this all in English or Japanese? I've been dealing with it in Japanese and just find it tiring. I had a good urologist for my original prostate/urethra issues and have checks once every 6 weeks or so. Unfortunately the doctors here at my hospital rotate in and out every 2-3 years. There is now some new guy and while he can certainly check something on the internet textbook he just doesn't seem experienced enough. I'm using the Red Cross hospital but wondering where else to try. I've already changed from another hospital about 5 years ago. I realised an emergency situation was coming on and I knew a taxi was quicker than an ambulance. I had used the hospital a lot but when I got there they wouldn't treat me as an emergency because I hadn't arrived by ambulance. If I receive medication quick enough I might have been fine but without it my urethra completely blocks and I end up having my bladder pierced so they can relieve the built up pee...... Anyway, got into a fight with the administrator and called an ambulance to the hospital to take me elsewhere (quite amusing). I was so grateful to find a hospital that took me seriously and listened when I said "use the smallest catheter" that I have been reluctant to try and find another hospital this time. I guess I should ask to see a senior urologist.

Anyway, writing this all down makes me understand a bit better why I have just been resigned to the fact and not taking the Peyronies Disease medication. I just haven't wanted to deal with it. Time to get off my ass and be proactive.

Thanks for reading and allowing me to blab on.

I used Japanese at Toho university hospital and was very disappointed at their service. It was a massive waste of time and my doctor was young and unaware of what Peyronie's even was, despite their website describing the disease in somewhat detail.

I have given up seeing anyone here for the disease, but I did read that one older doctor at a clinic used ultrasound to diagnose Peyronie's which they don't seem to offer elsewhere here.

I high recommend traction, adding supplements and or low dose cialis and altering your diet. VED is very helpful as well.

That's very cool, I just did an MA in international relations.

That's a bit depressing about the hospitals. I was hoping one of the bigger university ones would be good. My doctor never even touched me. just looked at the picture I had taken of an erection.

Oh well. I guess I will just go back and tell him what I want. Cialis etc. And in the meantime try to organize a visit to a specialist when I am back home.
