Rejoining the site after a few years, it is straight  but now full of fibrous tissue. along all of the shaft.  which is slowly strangling it.  Anybody have the same/ any miracle cures?  P L E A S E.

Age? 63 now
What did your medical doctor conclude?  tough it out
How long have you had symptoms?  6+ years.
What are your symptoms? It is straightish, but bulges out with fiberous tissues and restrictive bands at the bottom and top.
What treatments have you tried and what were the results? None really, just waiting and hoping.
Do you have insurance or means to get medical treatment? Nope: NHS in the UK, so no treatment really.
where are you in dealing with the psychological aspects of Peyronies Disease? Suicide seems a good idea (only kidding)
Are you in a relationship? Whats is a r-e-l-a-t-i-o-n-s-h-i-p-? not sexually active, but I would like to look normal erect again it is fine flaccid, but oh, brother......

Welcome! No miracle cures im afraid, but VED therapy and traction can restore some of your lost dimensions. Cialis or Citrulline and any supplements may help as well. Many of us take a range of supplements which we believe to help, and are careful as hell about our diet. Watch your blood sugar, exercise, etc. Take your time to read up on these forums, and try not to get too overly worried.

In don't know much about the NHS but I'm sure someone can give you advice!

You need to see a urologist asap.

Tough it out is just ridiculous. The problem needs professional assessment, including an ultrasound to determine the extent of the fibrosis.

You can't just accept being fobbed off. Get back to your GP and demand a referral to a peyronies aware Urologist.

I'm assuming that you don't have the resources to go private?

Jonbinspain,
thank you for your reply,
I  have now booked an appointment with the GP.
Now, all GPs in the practice are well. 'girlies' and I might have a problem  explaining. (Most British NHS GP's are part time women, no offense, but I am not sure this is a good thing).  I find for the run-of-the mill problems that are well known and have a whole industry to support, the NHS is brilliant,  but funding issues are waved in front of GP's if they refer more than can be dealt with or perhaps if it is rare.  There are as many NHS administrators toying with the funding as there are medical staff  in the NHS.

I saw a specialist  about 5 years ago, who said the only solution they could offer was surgery, which is why I toughed it out, so to speak, now it is rather different, and I suppose I will more likely go through with it.

I take vitamin  supplements carefully, and have a good diet, and are very healthy for my age.

Then again I saw a case on the Embarasing bodies program on REALY channel, so knowledge may be expanding about this. the patient felt he had a very successful result from surgery. Or is the channel just voyeuristic medic-porn  and the patient deluded?  This program, their giant truck and all the expenses.(insurance?), must cost many millions to put on.
Now retiring, so funds do not extend to private healthcare.
Regards. M.

Disaster area;

This disease not only affects us physically, but mentally too. Depression and worse are not uncommon 'side effects' of Peyronies. You may wish to mention that to your GP, if you see what I mean?

Depending on your condition, degree of curvature, sexual incapacity, etc, surgery may well be the road you need to go down. If that becomes the case, check very carefully the credentials of whoever the surgeon is.

In the meantime, read all you can about your enemy on the site. Arm yourself with knowledge. There is a wealth of accumulated knowledge here - more than is possessed by 99% of urologists. It will help you enormously to ask the right questions.

Don't be afraid to ask questions, query what you aren't clear about or disagree with.

Hello Jonbinspain,
Thank you for your reply, and I will take your advice to find out the credentials of the surgeon.  I wasn't intending to mention my mental state, but perhaps I should too, Perhaps desperation would be a good description for me, it makes me say inappropriate things, It should not be  right that patients appear to know more than the expert but that seems the case with this disease, and I think paid experts resent being told anything by a  patent , I plan to avoid appearing to be all knowing, could go the wrong way and mean I am ignored again,

with regards,
M
