My uro says I need an erection inducing injection for the ultrasound. Can the injection itself damage me further or is it with having?

Thanks!

Slight curve, dent, trouble keeping erections and Glans does not engorge.

Never heard that an injection shot for an erection can cause any problems.  The erection will subside in a short time or the doc can give you another injection to bring it down.  It pretty much depends to the strength of the solution that's injected. Injection has a little sting, but nothing earthshaking.

I've had this kind of injection on 3 separate occasions. No permanent damage. Although, you can expect some bruising.

I am quite certain they can cause "permanent" scarring or even induce Peyronie's. There are forum members here with such experiences. It's my impression that while this is rare, it can happen.

Another member may need to chime in on this for a better consensus.

I'm pretty sure that my new mild leftwards curve is due to the 3 injections I've had for procedures, not there 6+ years prior to the injections, left curve at 6+ months since first injection, not bothersome (so far) though.

I can remember a few people had new bending/plaque formation on/in injection sites, so yes it is possible.
This is an emotionally destructive condition, we all have it, let's be nice to each other.

So is it worth going ahead with? What does this scan even achieve?

Zeckelbaum - the scan will check blood flow and if there are any blockages caused by plaque. It's the "gold standard" test for peyronies (although the NHS in England no longer does them). It is possible to have an ultrasound while flaccid but it won't check the blood flow and makes some plaque harder to spot.

I noticed you said you had soft glans in one of your previous posts. I bet that's why your uro wants to do the ultrasound while erect. It's not the most common form of peyronies. I am going through a similar thing and have been in two minds whether to get this test done myself privately due to the risks. I'm giving the reverse kegels one last go and then I'll probably have to go ahead. I had the flaccid ultrasound done and it came back "normal". Let me know how you get on in New Zealand. Good luck!

I found the following article (free pdf is also available):

They say there is a small risk of tunica thickening at the injection site after 60-80 injections over 6-12 months, hardly noticed by patients.
I suppose the injections would be alternated on the left and right side so any curve one way could be counteracted by a curve the other so the patient wouldn't notice?

Since the tunica needs to expand during erection I wonder if any scarring is more noticeable for patients who are "growers" and not "showers".

Hi Rich,
I had an ultrasound on the NHS a few months ago, it might be worth pressing for it.

From reading all the posts on the forum, many forum members got here after injection to they penis

I've had it done to me twice.  O.k. The first time was pre-op. It's not much fun, but an erection needs to be induced for the doctor to assess things such as blood flow, any ED etc.

One shot helps give the erection. The other takes it down after examination.

No real issues for me apart from the pain after I was injected at my first post op check up.

Thanks lonelyboy, it may indeed be worth going down the NHS route if it's possible.

If you regularly use injections, like people Who haveEd, then yes. You are likely to have fibrosis. If it's just for the ultrasound, then I think you are going to be fine

When I go to the uro next month this is something I definitely want to get done.

However, small things do tend to make this worse or at the very least increase pain levels. I've probably made it worse myself just "checking" the lumps.

Walking, even sitting down normally causes pain. I use to be an avid movie-goer, I'd go with my old man weekly. But sitting in the movie theater seats is very unpleasant now. I spend most the time laying down in my bed when I'm not at work or exercising, which also causes pain. But I have to lose weight, because I'm just a little below 300. With my body frame, I might be okay at 230-240 but goal final goal is around 200-210. I will probably never be below 200 just because of my build.

This may sound like a stupid question. But I can still get erections. Sometimes it's not so easy, but it can be done. Surely viagra would give me a full one though, since I'm able to get one and still get consistent morning erections. More now really because of the supplements. Why can't the just give me Viagra? Or hell, leave the room for a little while and I'll look something up on my phone. :P
