Hi,

I'm 23 and have been diagnosed with peyronies. I first noticed a leftward bend about 5 years ago but didn't have any other problems so took no notice of it. In the last year or so things have got worse though and I've noticed a kind of ring like lump just below the head of my penis which goes the whole way around. The bend when erect still isn't that substantial and it's more prominent when flaccid/semi-erect. However, the main problems for me are that it's led to a shortening of almost an inch and generally weaker and easier to lose erections. I can no longer maintain an erection standing up and struggle to get one when lying on my left hand side. I've even noticed that I can't last as long during sex anymore so think that this may be another side-effect of it.

I've been to a urologist and they said that surgery was the only option but was pretty risky so just suggested taking viagra for the weaker erection problem. I've read a bit online about the condition and so was wondering if anyone could give advice in regards to taking any supplements to help with this? And also whether traction or VED might help my condition? It's got me pretty worried so any help would be appreciated!

Newbie,
Sorry to hear about your condition. I am right there with you, although I am 50. I first noticed my condition in August and I didn't fool around and ignore it. I researched it and read stuff from the NIH (National Institute of Health in the USA) and many other medical documents as well as everything on the net. I think you will find as I have that many people on this forum are not in favor of DMSO as part of a therapy.  I read the NIH article that discusses Penile Traction from the University of Torino, Italy and I decided to purchase a product. There is no shortage of them. I have been using mine for just under a month and I have been using DMSO 50% w/ aloe and potassium iodate vitamin E as a topical application.  I started doing this protocol prior to finding this forum.  While it is too early to state whether or not it will work, I remain optimistic. I will say the past few weeks I have had very firm erections during the middle of the night upon waking.  Not sure if it has anything to do with anything I am doing, but I would throw it out there, just note it doesn't seem to be very popular on this forum from what I have seen in the two days since finding it. I will tell you, for me personally, I would find it very unlikely that I would go through surgery, at least until I tried everything out there that could lead to complete ED and a reduction in size.  Good Luck

Agree with QuackAttack.  Surgery is the LAST resort.  Read around here and consider the various treatment options beginning with scar tissue softening meds/supplements, traction and/or VED.  Consider a good Magnesium supplement, and Magnesium deficiency is common in fibrosis conditions...which is basically what Peyronie's is.  Find a URO on the lists here who is somewhat of a specialist in Peyronie's/Penile Induration.  The ones mentioned on this forum include information from members who have seen them.

Thanks for the advice guys, I'll look into this stuff. The Magnesium deficiency idea sounds interesting as I know some medication I'm on has a side-effect of reducing Magnesium so that might be related.

QuackAttack can I ask which Traction device you bought? Seems like there's loads to choose from.

I bought the size genetics device, only because I found a coupon code for $150 off which made their high-end package tolerable. The Peyronies Device is the same company out of the same place in England (Isle of Man), however, I couldn't find the same kind of discount.  I don't remember where I found it, but my opinion is, find the discount but I found this for you. Size Genetics Discount Code - Save 30% + $50 OFF SizeGenetics

I think the difference in packages is basically different supplements. They both come with DVDs. The SG one comes with one that shows you different manual exercises, one of which is geared toward curvature. Maybe the Peyronies Disease has different exercises. I am not really following the exercises. I would look around an find the best price you can because this isn't going to be a shor-term deal as I hoped it would be and you are going to basically be throwing everything at it including the kitchen sink and the cost of the supplements add up. I found L-Carnitine on Amazon 400 capsules, 500 mg for 56.99 by NOW, outstanding price compared to elsewhere. I am using Blockbuster All Clear from the company website, buy 3 get 1 free.  Look up John Parks website as I am following his protocal for the topical use. Like I said, I am throwing the kitchen sink at this.  Most of all, you have to stay positive because being positive has a major impact on your health.  Oh, yesterday I started acupuncture, which I hope will be beneficial. If you are in a major metro area in the USA, you can find something called Community Acupuncture. These are basically a banding of low-cost, high-volume clinics. I will tell you that after my 1st visit yesterday, I have noticed decreased pain in my elbow and leg that I have had from sports injuries for years.

Here is my advice on using the device. Put up with the pinched hairs because if you shave thinking your are going to be more comfortable because you won't have hair in the way, you are mistaken. Your hair will provide a cushion for the base of the unit, if only I had known then what I know now, so I have a couple of months of dealing with no padding for the base of the unit.

Best wishes and keep in touch if you need positive reassurance as we are both newbies and you have much more life ahead of you.  Also, I am taking something from the Youngevity Nutritional Company that I called into Dr. Joel Wallach's radio show and he advised getting called XeraTest. Dr. Wallach was very familiar with Peyronies.
