Hi, this is my first post. I'm sorry it's so long. I feel desperate. I hope someone can help.

My husband had RP about a year ago. His nerves were not spared.  He takes a low dose cialis every other night for blood flow. He uses the VED but not all the time, and never for sex. He has been very reluctant about doing any ED therapy. I have pushed at first very gently and tactfully, and then more desperately as time went on for him to do it. He finally started doing shots using the lowest dosage possible to get the minimum amount erection for intercourse, but developed lumps and a distinct curve about 4 months ago.  He refused to go to a doctor. He says its not peyronies.

A couple months ago He finally agreed to see his uro, who said she didn't really know anything about peyronies, then proceeded to feel his flaccid penis and said it wasn't peyronies, and he didn't need to see a doctor for it!

DH does a shot about every 2 weeks. He is getting smaller and more curved every time. His erection now has about a 45 degree curve inward with a hard lump at the bend. He still refuses to go to a doctor because his uro whom he loves told him its not peyronies.. I suspect he is not doing the VED at all aggressively. he sits in the bathroom while reading a book.

I am feeling pretty desperate, fearing the end of our already limited sex life. He won't talk about any of this with me. He has an explosion if I ask anything or push for anything.  But every couple weeks I bring it up. I hate pushing him or nagging. But I feel like I am fighting for our sex life, and it will be unfixable soon. Recently we had a huge fight about it, and he finally talked to me a little. he says it's not peyronies and it will recover on its own. He's been having natural night time erections a couple times a week for a month. they last only seconds. He says just wait for another year to see how far it heals on its own. He is offended that I push him to do anything to preserve his size. It shouldn't matter, I should love him not his penis.

After non nerve sparing surgery Im very skeptical of him recovering usable erections on his own. and with how fast he is curving and atrophying even if he does eventually, it will probably be too late.

I'm trying to talk him into at least taking a supplement or something to help. I'm wondering if I should be pushing him to use a traction device to help stop his atrophy and curve. Before I really start pushing I want to know what I'm talking about.

So my questions are, what are the usual treatment plans for peyronies? How exactly should the VED be used ? Does a traction device work if the bend is inward toward your body? how uncomfortable are they?

Thank you for any help you can give me. Sophie

Traction and VED both are targeted at towards the same end as far as fibrosis plaques are concerned...stretch them out so that erections can be closer to normal.  VED has the added benefit of assisting with blood delivery to the corpus if done properly...up, down, rest, repeat...not really to "get" an erection unless being used for that, but to expand the Tunica (think of it like a mesh "sock" under the skin but over the erectile tissue and passageways...loosely woven, but not "stretchable" as such.  Peyronie's is classically scar tissue binding up the Tunica at one or more points, interfering with the erection process.  It is rare for such issues to go away on their own.  I wish I had more encouraging things to say, but unless and until your H accepts that he has a problem which will not go away on its own, I don't what to suggest.

Thanks for your response. I copied a sticky from this forum and he has agreed to try that method with the VED.

Sophie,
I granted you access to the "Ladies only Room".

And a "developing curve" does sound like Peyronies. His urologist (whether he likes her or not) has already admitted she knows little about it.

Dh finally went to a peyronies doc!  The doc talked fast and didn't give us much time to ask any questions.  After the nurse took DH's preliminary information, the doc started the appointment by telling DH all about surgery which had DH freaked out. We interrupted him to ask about other less invasive treatments. He ended up giving DH a prescription for Pentox, information on an extender which he recommended, showed him cock rings but didn't say how or when to use them, told him to schedule a doppler test. I left with my head reeling and most my questions unanswered. I think DH was wishing he could chop his penis off and never have to deal with it again.     I'm going to call the office and ask a nurse all the questions.

DH was very repulsed by the idea of an extender. But I think I can persuade him to use it. After looking around this forum, I plan to buy the SG one the doctor recommended. Given where DHs bend is, the doc says to wear it pointing down. Will he be able to wear it unnoticeable under his clothes? and can he walk around with it? If he has to sit for 2 hours with it, he may not agree to use it. Thanks for any suggestions.

wow I just clicked on the buy at 30% off at SG site and the comfort package is $350! Is there a less expensive way to buy this?

Thing is, if he is repulsed by even the idea of the extender then there is little chance of him putting in the hours with it. It takes a lot of time and dedication. I'd hold off on buying the Sizegenetics device or any traction device right now, and see how you go with the medication and VED.

If you do decide to buy one, post again here and I'll give you a detailed run down of everything pertaining to traction. But it looks like VED might be the best option for your husband right now, and there is a lot of info in the VED forum you will find helpful.
This is an emotionally destructive condition, we all have it, let's be nice to each other.

Thanks Skunkworks. I'm waiting on a call back from the doc to answer some questions before i make any decision. If we do end up with the SG your information will be welcomed

Thing is, DH has been using a VED for 8 months for rehab and has atrophied dramatically during that time.

We have a very loving marriage and we never fight, just have respectful disagreements, but we had a massive fight a couple months ago, first in our 11 years together, and I told him his refusal to see a doctor about peyronies, and negative attitude about trying for erections was damaging our marriage. That seemed to really shake him up.  Since then he has actually talked to me a couple times about his feelings about the whole mess of peyronies and ED, and he agreed to see the doctor. He allowed me to give him the VED instructions  which I printed off this site.

I think he is finally ready to face the reality that he has to do something.

Could he regain some of his lost size with proper use of the VED or with traction? And if there is with VED, which he would far prefer over faction, how is it done?

Thanks for any suggestions or information. Sophie

The whole purpose of either VED or Traction is the same.  When using meds and/or supplements to aid in "softening" the plaque, reshaping is in order.  By stretching on the plaque with either Traction or VED, the intent is to accomplish this.  Ultimately, if the scar tissue plaque can be effectively eliminated, size should be close to original.  I am also in a position where any size loss is not really acceptable.

Early on, I found Traction useful in that it eliminated the dents and severe pain at the bend when I was first afflicted with this.  I was doing that even before finding this site.  Since Traction requires clamping down on the penis, it may be less comfortable to do at the level necessary to receive significant benefit.  I am leaning more towards VED therapy myself, and have all but discontinued Traction.  I may pickup a Phallosan Forte once I have the $'s and use it as well as VED, but resources are extremely thin at present.

Kuaka,

I read about the Phallosan, and originally I considered it, since comfort for would make DH likelier to use it, but I wasn't sure if it worked as well, and I heard it could give blisters, and the doc recommended SG. I couldn't find much on how the result compared between the two either.

DH lost a lot of size due to atrophy after prostatectomy. I've heard that can't be regained. But he's lost even more after the peyronies. I"m not sure if its from peyronies, or from never getting full erections. Old Man is advising me on the VED.  But if a combination extender and VED would do good I'd get an extender also.

Both Mulhall and Levine, who are meant to be the big experts, advise for the extender, as well as the doc we saw. Dr Micheal Metro. I  liked him in spite of him being too rushed. I think he totally didn't understand that DH was there under duress.

Old Man has been down that path...PDS and Prostatectomy...so he is likely to be the best resource here for you.
