Oral supps and long term use + effects on Testosterone

Hi All

I've been on the standard oral supp regime of L-Arginine, Acetyl-L-Carnitine, Pentox and very low dose Cialis for just on 12 months, and my condition has definitely stabilised at the very least, so its been a good outcome. I thought I'd get my bloods tested to compare them to my original results at the time of diagnosis

The main things that stood out was that my Testosterone levels have gone from 14.4 nmol/L to 25.2...a huge increase. This has coincided with the return of nocturnal erections, stronger erections etc so I was hoping for a small increase, but not to that extent.

Both results are considered within the 'normal' range, but it's basically gone from one end of the spectrum to the other.

There is a study in the Library here showing the effects of Pentox on the serum levels of Testosterone, so I'm guessing this has contributed to the increase. However I'm slightly concerned that ongoing use of the supps will see the Testosterone rise to unhealthy levels.

The other standout was that my platelets and white cell count had dropped below what was considered the normal range. I assume this could again be a by product of the pentox compromising the immune system?

Has anyone had similar results and if so, did these levels stabilise over time? I'm also taking supps of Vitamin K2, Vit D and Fish Oil.

Many thanks

Nelson

ALC is certainly a testosterone booster. I hadn't heard of Pentox being linked to an increase in free testosterone before.

Pentox is a well known  immune system suppressant. I stopped taking it in winter as it seemed to dramatically lower my resistance to colds, flu, etc.

Thanks jonb

I'm guessing that's it then, the ALC and Pentox combined.

Something I'll need to keep an eye on.

Cheers

The only study I saw that showed an increase in testosterone from Pentox was done on morphine addicted rats. ALC does not increase testosterone at all.
So, I certainly wouldn't worry about your testosterone increasing too far.

Nelson;

ALC works directly on the androgen receptors. If your testosterone levels have increased, I can see no other reason for that from the list of supplements that you have given, than the combination of L arginine and ALC that you've been taking.

Unless of course you are morphine addicted...or a rat...or both.  :)
