Hello all.  Although I have been perusing the forum for over a year, this is my very first post- so my apologies beforehand if this is the wrong board to post an introduction and question.  Fist, many thanks to everyone else on the board for sharing their stories and helping to educate me a bit.  I am still in a bit of denial even though this insidious disease has progressed for at least two years.

As a basic introduction, I am a 40 year old otherwise healthy male that was officially diagnosed with Peyronies a little over a year ago.  In hindsight, the symptoms might have started a few years ago, but until the curvature and flaccidity became painfully obvious I did not pay particularly close attention since my sex life has been more or less non-existent the last three or four years, not to mention I have always had a slight curvature.  I became fully aware of how crappy this disease is last fall when I attempted to have sex on a couple different occasions- but failed quite miserably both times.

From my rudimentary calculations using the protractor method that I found on this website (thanks to whomever posted), I had an upward curvature of approximately 70 degrees in January prior to starting Xiaflex.  I finished my fourth and final round of Xiaflex shots back in June and, unfortunately, I do not believe there was a change in the curvature.  Now, I actually seem to have less rigidity roughly two-thirds up the shaft at the point of curvature and a slight indentation (can't remember the technical term).

I was not overly impressed by my urologist.  Whenever I asked questions or advice, he pretty much just quoted verbatim everything I had read in the Xiaflex pamphlet.  Even though he induced an erection to find the plaque prior to the first shot, I was a little surprised he did not take a baseline measurement.  Also, nothing was mentioned about the possibility of seeing if there was some sort of blood flow issue.

Well, now I am racking my brain trying to decide how I want to tackle this disease next- traction, pills, manual stretching, surgery, etc.?  I definitely want to find a local doctor that specializes in Peyronies that can help me formulate a game plan.

With that said, can anyone recommend a urologist in Northern Virginia that specializes in Peyronies?  Someone posted a link with Peyronies specialists but the closest doctors I found on the list were in Virginia Beach, VA and Baltimore, MD- both locations a bit too far for me.   I have also done several Google searches without any luck.

Thanks in advance!

Lucketts

Hello Neighbor,

I also live in Northern Virginia, and am on the same search as you.  Please feel free to send me an email, and we can compare notes on local docs. Sorry to hear that the Xiaflex didn't work.

The results of Xiaflex are very much doctors dependent.
This what I understand from reading all the posts on this forum.
Sorry to read that Xiaflex didn't helped you.
In my opinion, you should see a leading Peyronies specialist.

James and Lucketts- thanks for the encouragement and advice.  Sorry for delayed response- with work schedule it can be rare that I have much time to check the forum.
