Hi All

Greeting from Toronto Canada. I just registered and I am overwhelmed with the number of men who share the same concerns with Peyronies that I do. At 47 in 2012 I was diagnosed with Peyronies from an injury. After waiting for months in 2013 I had injections that did nothing. Later my well known doctor in Toronto said there is nothing more that he could do. I was deflated and felt defeated. But I am not giving up I am sure there will be a cure soon.

I have so many questions. I heard good things about extensions.  Do they really work? What is the best product? Do you really need to wear it for 6 to 8 hours. How does someone wear it for that long when you work every day? Or do you wear it for a an hour or two throughout the day.

Thanks

Stabler

Hello pjc

Welcome to the forum, we do have a lot of good information here to go through, I am assuming that when you say extender you mean a traction device? we have a board that is dedicated to that you should visit and read what other members have found. Traction and Traction Devices for correcting Peyronies Disease - PDS - Peyronies Society Forums

Are you currently taking any medications and if so what are they? Do you have a urologist that specializes in peyronies that is very important.

Here are some links to pages that will be of help to you, the survival guide is great!

You need to be taking several other medications as well to help keep the peyronies from advancing (Read the Oral medication board), as you know there isn't a cure but attacking it early on is a huge advantage for you.

As I said the men in this forum will be very helpful so please ask them questions. Visit the other boards that fit the questions you want to ask and start posting, trust me they will help.

As for me, I am one of few women that are in the forum but I post a lot and I am on here everyday so please ask me anything you like, I am also here to help.

Hello Pjc,

I agree with Stabler in that you definitely need to see a specialist that specializes in peyronies, rather than just a regular urologist. It's sadly a common thing here on the forums, of us just having unhelpful urologists as they know pretty much nothing about this condition. May I ask what injections you had? To be honest, it seems that Xiaflex is the only treatment (when it comes to injections) that men with peyronies have seen any improvement with. Other injections like Verapmil have been mostly negative by members here as it has mostly done nothing. And in some cases it even made things worse!

Not laughing at you but your urologist, as I found that humorous that he said there was nothing left to do and basically gave up on you. What a dufus as there are other options you can try. And any doctor that gives up on his patients without exhausting every method to help you, deserves to have his medical license taken away. Don't listen to him for a second that there is no hope for you.

On theses forums the main oral medications that seem to help are Pentox, Cialis 5mg, and CoQ10.

Pentoxifylline (also known as Trental) or pentox for short should be taken 3x a day with food and should be 400mg per pill. Might need a prescription.

Cialis 5mg isn't used for just erections but it's combination with pentox to help soften the plaque. You should take this once a day. Might need a prescription.

CoQ10 300mg 1x a day. You can get this from just about any drug store and can take it right now if you want.

Other things that are worth mentioning.

Citrulline Malate powdered form 2gs a day with a cup of water.

AcetyI-L Carnitine powdered form 2gs a day with a cup of water.

Grape seed extract.

Traction and VED have had great results for a lot of guys. Last is surgery and this should be your LAST option in my opinion. If all else fails this is still an option and there have been plenty of guys who have had great success from surgery or getting an implant. I would start off with the meds and do traction or a VED first (or both). Then Xiaflex and finally surgery if you feel you can't live with the condition you have after those treatments. If you do go the surgery route just make sure your surgeon is skilled with the particular surgery and has done many of those surgeries successfully.

Read as much as you can here and welcome to the forums.

Hi Stabler67 & Wonderbread1662

Thank you for your quick reply. The last 24 hours I have been provided with information than ever before. Its funny I asked my doctor about Xiaflex after I watch a story on the news back in 2012 I was told then that is was not available in Canada. It might be now. The injection I believe if memory serves me was Verapmil they were painful, the swelling and bruising was intense. Not a pleasant experience.

I was never prescribed any medications and have never heard of an of those you mention especially pentox.
The others C0Q10 is over the counter? I will try the others citrulline malate and acetyI-L Carnitine. Which should I try first or does it not matter?
I am going to give the traction and VED devices a go and see where it takes me.
Thanks again to you both.

I'd recommend pentox as it got rid of almost all of my penile pain in about three weeks. It does have side effects but I would say it is worth it in my experience. CoQ10 should be over the counter but I'm in the Usa so it might be different over there in Canada. I don't see why it wouldn't be over the counter though.

I don't feel that it really matters which one you take first. I would say that Citrulline has been more beneficial in my experience. I feel like I have more energy and it helps with my libido. Great for taking before working out, as I and others have found. I would also note that my erections seem to be harder when I take it. Acetyl-L has probably helped as well but I have not really noticed to be honest.

Just one word regarding Verapamil, it will be very very difficult to find someone on the forum with positive results.
For most, it get worst. So my advice is don't think to try it.
But also Xiaflex have bad side effects in many cases, I mean bruising, discolorations, blue/black color, swellings. Most reports are positive regarding Xiaflex results and this what is important.
