OK I have to admit I am pretty terrified!
I am a married, fit, 52 year old.
First started to see lump, then pain when having sex with my wife.
Pain now gone but things are looking pretty odd
Question:
Can this condition ever fix itself? or does it get progressively worse and I end up looking like some of those internet medical pictures?

It can, but in most cases, it doesn't resolve on its own, only stabilizes. Your best bet right now is to read about treatments here (Pentox, VED, Xiaflex, Traction, various supplements) and get yourself to a Urologist for proper diagnosis and counsel.  Feel free to ask questions, we're here to help. One word of caution - don't spend a lot of time looking at horrific pictures on the web.  Here's something to remember: few men actually get to a worst case scenario; but all of us think we'll get there.

Best,
Nemo
51 yrs. old, multiple auto-immune conditions. First episode of Peyronies Disease in 2002. Recurred a couple times since. Over the years I have tried Topical Verapamil, Iontophoresis, all the supps and Cialis + Pentoxifylline. Still functional, always worried.

Nemo is correct. Same thing happened to me and I had never heard of this before. Best thing you can do is educate yourself, and then based on your individual symptoms choose a course of actions that makes sense for you. Many here are glad to help and/or offer advice. The following link will provide you with some basic background information.

I'd like to reiterated Nemo's point of proper diagnosis. This is hugely important.

Not just to confirm Peyronie's but to rule out other things such as cancer, especially if things started with a lump appearing and then pain rather than the other way around.
This is an emotionally destructive condition, we all have it, let's be nice to each other.

Thank You Gentlemen,
I appreciate your wisdom, It is very reassuring.
I did end up going to the Urologist. He was a pretty cool guy. Didn't offer too much advice though!
L-Argenine and gave me these tabs that made me feel sick.
Anyway things seem to have stabilized (I.e. not getting worse)

Question about pumps. Wouldn't they make matters worse by creating more micro tears leading to more scar tissue buildup?
Any suggestions on types?
