Success from Peyronies Disease by Implant????

Hi I'm scheduled for an implant in 10 days.  I have ED and Peyronies Disease since a radical prostatectomy 17 months ago.   I have posted on FT about this but not too many people there dealing with Peyronies Disease.  Can I get some feedback on the success of the implant for correcting the curve? The doctors say that the implant should overpower the plaque and some modeling may be necessary (modeling= bending the penis back against the bend).  I have a 45 degree upward curve.  Worst case I would also get plication surgery during the implant.  Any feedback would be appreciated.

Hello. I have been on these forums for half a year more or less, but i haven't seen many folks going the implant route to treat their peyronies here (older members, please correct me if i am wrong). Based on the papers that i have seen on "using implants to correct your situation", it's mainly doctor dependant and the expertise he has on the procedure for the best outcome; but that not being a problem, yes i agree with what the doctor told you.

Just out of curiosity: did the doctor put you on any VED or extender protocol to try to gain back some size due to the PRP losses? quite a few members on FT complain about not being told that by their doctors, and then they are put in place a smaller size implant, while they could have a slightly larger one, which is always what one wants in that case...  Do give a look on  pubmed.com, and search for medical papers, regarding your situation there for further clarification on this, if you haven't done so.

Who is your surgeon? You want one that makes more than 100 per year.

I guess I am a living testimony as to why you don't see too many post-implant Peyronie's sufferers. The reason is, that the surgery does, in fact, cure Peyronie's & most of us don't check the web site much any more. In my case, I was "implanted" about 6 years ago strictly because I had the disease. Fortunately, Medicare covered the procedure. Don't know if that's still the case. My dr. used the AMS LGX model & I have had no problems with it whatsoever. I found that my curvature was not 100% corrected but it certainly made intercourse possible. Insertion of the prosthesis more or less corrects the curvature automatically although my dr. informed me that sometimes the surgeon literally has to break or crack the calcified tissue. That is what is meant by the term "modeling".
As so many others who have had the procedure advocate, make certain that your urologist has not only successfully done implants but, ideally, has experience specifically with Peyronie's patients.

voulezvous, did you also have indentations or only curvature?  Just curious how the implant works in filling out indentations.

No, I did not have any indentations - only curvature. I forgot to mention in my earlier post that I had tried verapamil injections for over a year before agreeing with my urologist that surgery was the only course I could follow if I ever wanted to be sexually active again. It was a huge decision but one I have no regrets making. I do not recall having ED issues - other than psychological.
Also, I highly recommend continued use of a VED right up to the surgery date. In my case, the device significantly helped me from losing more than a slight amount of my length. When used correctly, it will keep the plaque from further calcification.
If an implant is in your future, remember that it is an irreversible procedure & that the recovery period is no picnic.

Glad to see that you had success with your penile implant. JackP also had his done about 5 years ago in Memphis, TN. He has had great success with his implant too.

He and I developed what is now the one cylinder Vitality OTC protocol for VED therapy. It has been revised several times from the original version which was a modified version of the old protocol from a VED package, etc.

Thanks for posting the information about using the VED therapy right up to the operation date. Dr. Milam at Vanderbilt where Jack's surgery occurred suggested the VED to JackP, and this was done for several months up to his surgery date.

This is proof that VED therapy when used properly can and will alleviate some Peyronies Disease symptoms. And, it provides a way for good erections for ED as well using the proper tension ring(s).

Good to know that you are still out there, Old Man. Yes, JackP & I have been touching base ever since 2010. I admire & respect both of you for the effort you have made over the years to assist others in understanding both the disease & the treatments.

Thanks for the feedback. Good to hear that the implant will hopefully cure me of both ED and Peyronies Disease.  I have been using traction for about 7 months so hopefully size will not change much.  I also use a Trimix shot once a week also so I have a good idea of what size is "normal".  I'm hoping plication surgery will not be needed.  Doctor is using Coloplast Titan.
I say away from VED because I think I caused my Peyronies Disease by overdoing VED.  I'd pump to max and hold for 45 minutes.  Wish the VED protocol talked about here was taught to all Physicians.
Surgery soon.  I will get back to everyone with my progress.

Hi James,
This surgeon appears to have all the right credentials.  Trained by Dr. Morey at UTSW.   Morey perfected a plication surgery that does not need de gloving or a large incision. This Doc is head of Reconstructive Surgery in the Philly area and implants is what he does all the time.  He comes highly recommended.  I am hoping to avoid Plication and the doctor is optimistic that Plication will not be needed.  
Still worried though.  I guess modeling means bending the calcification back until it breaks up.  But I would think given the fact that I can't "activate" the pump for weeks, whatever plaque breakdown during modeling would again heal in an unnatural way in the flaccid state.  Possibly making my penis  shorter and or curved again??
The doctor is going with Coloplast because he said with my size 7" the titan would provide more rigidity and I could avoid needing numerous rear tip extenders..sound right?

I had no implant surgery, but what I am saying is from reading posts regarding implants on our forum and endless posts on FT.
From what I read he is right, at 7" you don't need the AMS LGX and Coloplast will give you more rigidity. It expands also, but just in girth.
Modeling means breaking up the calcification indeed. It will not become again a scar as it was because after the implant installation the implant is left half pumped up, mainly for the reason that the scars will not make deformations.
Please let us know the doctor name and his place of practice. I will update our forum doctors list, it may help other members that will want to go on this way.

Gentlemen,
I'm 1.5 days from my surgery. One bit of information I wish I understood before now.
I thought I was told that the implant will overpower the plaque and push the penis straight. I guess this is true only after modeling and only by breaking up the plaque and then keep the penis pumped up so the calcifications do not rejoin.  When the  implant is inserted, the curve you had naturally will be apparent with the implant. Its the modeling and pumping up that helps straighten the penis.
Questions. Since I'm erect I'm having an extremely difficult time peeing.  I need to stand over the walk in shower and pee off the shower wall. It takes forever to complete this process (5minutes to pee).  I'm not sure if this is just from being pumped up or if its bruising from modeling? any advise?
Another question:  Since it feel almost fully erect , I'm sure the implant has trapped blood in the penis shaft.  Isn't this dangerous(Paraprism)for the remaining natural penile tissue?

I will try to answer some of your questions from the knowledge I got on the forum as I didn't make (yet) an implant.
As I understand, the implant will straiten almost all the bend caused by the Peyronies. Coloplast more than AMS LGX.
The implant is half pumped up, for the reason to keep the scar tissues, old and new, from getting back the bent.
And it is not like Priaprism.
By the way, the doctor done plications?

The doctor said he took his time making sure I was sized correctly.  No Plication was done.  Let's hope things work out OK.

5 days post implant and peeing is a lot better especially considering I'm semi erect.
I'm black and blue but its getting better. But two more concerns:
My pain comes from two areas. MY ball sack is pinched around the release valve area. Almost like its stitched to it or some vacuum suction is pulling my sack around the release valve. Second pain area is I feel parts of the implant have such hard creases in them, its highly sensitive to the touch or anything else like underwear touching it. Anyone else experienced these feeling?
