I tried to post in the new members area, it wouldn't let me for some reason. So, i'm posting here as it is still relevant to this forum.

I'm 21, i have NOT been diagnosed with peyronies yet. I'm VERY short on money and can't afford my co-pay to see a specialist who may or may not know about this. Even if it's a peyronie's specialist they may NOT prescribe me what might be needed (trental)

A little about what's going on/ my situation. About a month and a half ago, i was having sex. Not rough, not a weird position. I finished like usual and noticed my penis had this HUGE swelling on the BASE. (Weird because i have a curve on the SIDE of my penis causing it to bend that way, this always threw me off....) After a couple weeks i noticed the slight bend. It's about 13 degrees. It hasn't gotten worse. There is ZERO pain. It seems that it could POSSIBLY have already caused some girth loss on THAT SIDE of the curve, as well as a slight shortening(very slight) due to there being..well a curve.

I've got a LOT of questions so i figure i'll list them in an order for someone experienced to try and answer. I know you're all not doctors...yada yada disclaimer.

1. Does what i just described sound like i developed Peyronie's?

2. Obviously there isn't a lot of info on this but  we all have heard that there is a 10-15% chance of peyronie's just "resolving" not to sound rude but the majority of the men on this forum from what i've noticed (i creeped for a while before becoming a member just now.) are old and already have substantial health problems and difficulties just achieving an erection. Which i do not.Is there an INCREASED chance of my peyronie's resolving(if i have it? although i'm 80% sure i have it or something similar.) because of my age and the fact that i'm a very thin, healthy young man?

3. These treatments you guys have listed, including pentox... Seem kinda...Senseless? Can someone explain the logic and methodology behind pentox (it's supposedly the god on these forums) as to how that will essentially help my penis curve dissappear?

4. How safe overall is pentox in a healthy young man who just has a penis curve and ZERO other problems?

5. I noticed these treatments listed all are related to difficulties in getting erections. I'm assuming that's because this forum base is mainly older men that have this problem. The top treatments for Peyronies listed on this forum seem to be -Ved, Viagra, cialis, and pentox. Almost ALL of these are medicines used for blood flow to the penis in one way or another. I have ZERO problems with blood flow to my penis. It's great. I'm able to get rock hard erections, morning wood. You name it. I'm not an old guy. But yet these treatments all seem to be geared towards..old guys. (35+ years old) Which treatments should a YOUNG HEALTHY  man utilize in regards to a penis curve and a possible slight reduction in size(where the plaque is) with ZERO other side effects?

6. On the side where i think i have the plaque (where it bends towards) the skin is slightly "tighter" does this make sense and correlate with peyronies then? I know i'm in the acute stage. What are the BEST things i can take right now or do?

7. Lastly, i'm currently taking oral vitamin e. 800iu a day. Rubbing vitamin e onto the curve( i understand this probably won't help. but doing anyways) also WAS taking L-carnitine but the price is too much. So i stopped after a month. I'm taking l-arginine though. Also considering coq10 but again, this is a supplement that SEEMS more geared for older guys. How will coq10 help a young man's curved penis? Also, Considering buying pentox from river pharmacy. Can anyone vouch and confirm this is a legitimate site that sells 100% real medicine?(in other words bought a medicine that couldn't be a fake pill, like they could put sugar pills instead of pentox. But viagra or cialis they couldn't fake. You would know those were real)

8. Is pentox considered a blood thinner or not? I'm confused. Blood thinners are commonly associated with hair loss although it's usually rare. What are the chances of pentox causing hair loss at all as a usual side effect?

So to conclude, i know a lot of people will say to see a peyronies specialist. I'm already pretty sure i have it. Just looking for some confirmation on this forum. I don't have a lot of money and i know some specialists even will say to "wait it out" that's why i'm just gunna avoid that.  Based on the things i've told you, and that i'm on a low budget but i CAN afford to get pentox from river pharmacy (assuming it's legit) what do you recommend i do? 21 years old.

I've noticed i've got quite a few viewers and views but not so many responses. It would mean a lot to me to get some answers!

Skjaldborg

Notscared,

Some of those page views are from web crawlers. It looks like your first and second posts were only about an hour apart. You may get more responses later; be patient.

Per your questions:

1. Yes, curvature of the penis after swelling (due to possible injury) does sound like Peyronie's. However, that does not mean you have Peyronie's; you need to go to a qualified urologist for a diagnosis. I suggest you do so as soon as possible.

2. Not all of the men on this forum are old and out of shape. In fact, many of us are in our 20s and 30s and some of us who are older are in fine shape. The treatments for young, healthy men are the same for older men, that is: pentox, cialis, VED. The 10-15% resolution number might not be accurate for any age group. I am 35 (injured 6 years ago) and continue to see improvement over time and I have recovered to about 95% of my size before injury. Does that put me in the recovery group? I really don't know.

3. Pentox is not senseless, it has been tested and is one of the better treatments for Peyronie's. It worked very well for me and I'm a very healthy 35 year-old male. You should read about the studies on it in our resource library here: Peyronie's Disease Resource Library - PDS - Peyronies Society Forums  (Basically, pentox makes red blood cells more squishy so they can bring oxygen and nutrients into small capillaries. It also inhibits "stops" tgf-beta, a chemical in the body that creates scar tissue. This encourages healing and may reduce scar tissue size.

4. Pentox is very safe and well tolerated. It does have some GI side effects though, generally mild though.

5. Your understanding of the purposes behind treatments like VED, Viagra, Cialis, and pentox is incomplete. While they are erectogenic drugs, they also serve to inhibit tgf-beta (described above) while encouraging healthy functioning. VED brings oxygenated blood to the penis, which again encourages healing. It doesn't matter how old you are, Peyronie's can cause reduced erectile functioning because of inflammation and pain, getting healthy erections is important for healing. Cialis, Viagra pentox, and VED all serve to encouraging healing.   Your urologist may or may not prescribe low-dose Cialis for Peyronie's. My urologist did not, but perhaps it would have been helpful.

6. Yes, that symptom could be a symptom of Peyronie's, but we won't know until you get a diagnosis from a qualified urologist. The best thing a young man can do is go to a good urologist, get a diagnosis, and then start treatment. If you do have Peyronie's, VED, Pentox and Cialis/viagra are the methods that have been tested the most. Newer treatments like Xiaflex have not been used extensively yet and we don't have good data on them.

7. Vitamin E is well known as being useless for the treatment of Peyronie's. Some men on the forum use CoQ10 and like the results, I have not used it extensively so I cannot vouch for it. Perhaps someone else on the forum can. There are numerous threads on the subject, which you may read. As for River Pharmacy, you can use the search function on the upper right of the page, which will give you 3 pages of results for River Pharmacy.

8. Pentox is a blood thinner but I have not heard it causing hair loss. I used pentox for 8 months and noticed no hair loss.

Long story short, you really need to go to a urologist and get a confirmed diagnosis. My impression is that forum members use River Pharmacy because pentox is not available for Peyronie's treatment in their country of residence. It IS available in the US and is very cheap. Save up for that co-pay and please see a doctor before trying any treatment you see on the forum.

Sorry notscared you got just one answer until now.
The main point is that your post is written in a way that it is almost automatically excludes answers from older guys like me (67).
Also after Skjald post, I don't think that someone else will have much to say.
By the way I am buying from river, they products are good.

Hello, i am not trying to exclude or insult any older men! Do not get that from my post! I need all the info i can get!

Also, i have a question. I read somewhere on this forum someone posted more or less this-

"That figure is entirely fictional. There is no spontaneous recovery or "complete resolution" from this. Peyronies is a chronic, incurable condition.
The 13% figure is taken from _surveys_, not from continuous evaluations of patients. They simply asked patients in a survey whether they "feel" like they have recovered. This is meaningless. It's a longstanding medical myth that's often repeated based on a minority of patients who convinced themselves they are all better and put this in the survey, nothing more. "

This was posted very recently. Does that mean a young man like myself IF I DO HAVE PEYRONIES will NOT get better on its own(without treatment.)  ??

Also, is pentox CLASSIFIED as a blood thinner or does it have blood thinning effects? I noticed some people say that it has a different effect on the body, etc etc.

james1947

notscared

I am 100% with the member you quoted, Peyronies doesn't resolve alone without treatment.
You need to treat Peyronies to stop the progression and to reverse the symptoms.
Progression my be very slow as in my case, but if not treated (again my case) will end up bad. I am not saying that to make you worry, I am saying that to take this disease seriously.
Regarding Pentox as blood thinner:
It is classified as blood thinner, but it is not a blood thinner like Aspirin let's say. Pentox modifies the red blood cells properties making them flexible and be able to penetrate the smaller veins. Red blood cells are carrying the Oxygen.
And don't worry, no one is insulted, just tried to explain you the reason for not too many answers.
I will also repeat, after Skjald post, don't have too much to say because his answer is very detailed and not missing out nothing.

I'm just very paranoid about any sort of hair loss whatsoever. This can occur on any standard blood thinners. Are there any reports at all of any hair loss associated with pentox???

james1947

I understand your paranoia regarding hair loss, but I never read about it as a Pentox side effect.
Maybe other members have other information?

notscared,

Hair loss is not a listed side effect of pentox. To be honest, even if it was I'd still have taken it. I'd rather be bald and treat my Peyronie's than have a full head of hair and not get treatment.

It sounds like you are in the "freaking out" stage which you have every right to be.

Skjaldborg did a fine job of answering all of your questions to the point I don't have much to add.  If you can try to find a Urologist who is well versed in Peyronies and be upfront when calling for an appt.  If the appt. taker doesn't know what you are talking about, then that doctor doesn't see a lot of patients with Peyronies most likely.  I've seen a handful of Urologists and only 20-30% of them go outside the outdated "there's nothing we can do, take some vitamin E and come back in 6 months" approach.  There is definitely something you can do NOW, this board is your best resource and advocate.

Since hair loss is important to you as it was to me when I was in my 20s I would caution you on taking Propecia(Finastride)/ Proscar or other drugs that mess with your hormone levels.  In fact there may be a link for some of us who used Finastride and developed Peyronies.  I had a full head of hair and identified very strongly with it until my mid-20s when it started to thin.  I freaked out of course, and started using Proscar prescribed by my doctor.  I used it for several years on and off and then as I matured I just dealt with the hair loss and cut my hair shorter and shorter.  I actually looked better.  I realize this is off topic but something to think about down the road.

Good luck to you!

I've got additional questions.

Generally speaking when someone is in the "acute" stage around right when the peyronies is noticed can there be IMMEDIATE girth loss? Obviously length loss could be immediate because the curve essentially will cause that side to be "shorter" in logic. However, i feel like i MIGHT have some girth loss ON THE SIDE OF THE PLAQUE (left side penis) However it's only 1.5 months after incident. Does that make sense or is usual? I always thought the initial "common" symptoms are just  pain, curve, plaque.

Lastly, what's the verdict on getting erections to help with this? Someone replied earlier in this thread that the whole point of all the VED's and viagra type drugs are to cause healthy blood flow to the penis. In return this will help healing.

So i should NOT abstain from masturbating or sex at ALL? I'm confused cause i saw a lot of things (they were old though.) saying "Avoid sex for ___ amount of time" etc etc.

How can blood flow/ sex HELP peyronies?

nemo

There is just no definitive answer to your question, I'm afraid - as with so many topics in the world of Peyronie's, it's a matter of "your best guess."  And anecdotal evidence from personal experiences runs the gamut - what works for some often doesn't for others.

"Gentle use," in my experience and way of thinking, has never hurt anything, and I strongly suspect actually helps by ensuring tissue expansion and blood flow. Others argue that total rest is needed. Bottom line is there is no definitive medical answer to this question I'm sorry to say.

Do what your gut (and head) tells you make sense.

I understand and i agree with you as well. Let me say this and you can tell me your opinion however. Obviously at LEAST a fair amount of the people on this board are fairly older (30+) and i understand younger men are as well but the majority are older. I see a lot of posts about problems getting and maintaining erections. As well as their peyronies getting worse.

Therefore, using THAT logic would it make SENSE to assume that if i can get fine erections that it probably won't HURT and could possibly HELP seeing as a lot of the older men on this forum to begin with are advocating medicines that correlate with bloodflow to the penis as well as VED's to force erections? Wouldn't it make sense that using the logic of a lot of people on this forum then that i SHOULD be having sex and masturbating?

Additionally,  a lot of members are telling me to see a urologist about this and how it might not be peyronies. What else could this possibly be then? In other words, i do NOT have  a congenital curve but i now have a NON-PAINFUL curve that came out of nowhere. What else could be a cause of this?

I'm gunna bump this as it's been over 40 minutes and no response. Not sure if that's against the rules but i can't imagine as most boards have a 15 minute rule.

notscared:

Hold your horses! When you say that it has been 40 minutes with no replies, you are wasting your time and others on the forum. Most of the members do not monitor the forum all day.

Not to seem that I am putting you down, but I am over 85 years old and have had Peyronies Disease symptoms since the ripe ''old age'' of 24 years. I learned early on that Peyronies Disease has a mind of its own and can manifest itself in many different ways based on an individual basis.

So, you must slow down, get a grip on yourself and start doing something about finding out for sure that you actually have Peyronies Disease. There were very few doctors in any medical in the 1950s. Peyronies Disease as well as ED were subjects that few men much doctors wanted to discuss. Fortunately, our family had a regular MD so he did his best with what he knew at the time to help with my curved and distorted dick. At that age you now know what I must have being feeling and enduring.

Bottom line is this: I am relating my case to let your know that I have had several bouts of Peyronies Disease. These have totally disrupted my sex life at times and caused me to have much distress to overcome. However, you have the resources now especially on this the best Peyronies Disease as well as ED forum in the world. Members here have experienced the symptoms you have, started therapy of some sort and even realized complete recovery from Peyronies Disease including myself.

So, you see that you are not alone here! You need to get a good medical diagnosis of your case to know for sure what you are dealing with and get help started. It has been proven for many on this forum that early treatment is the best way to go. Waiting will only cause you further trauma if not treated early one. So, get busy, confide in someone in your family you can trust with your case and together workout a course of action.

All of the members here are ready and willing to assist you in way then can to help too. I am listed as the senior member on my forum profile. I have been a member on the forum ever since it was started way back in 2005 and I have seen many members come and go, so feel free to use my experience in any way you desire.

Skjaldborg

notscared,

It could possibly be inflammation due to a minor injury. Peyronie's does not necessarily result from every injury. Sometimes the tunica gets injured and heals normally after a few days. If you feel a lump or the curvature progresses and does not get better, that would be a sign of Peyronie's.

I know you said money is tight, but getting a proper diagnosis is very important.

Skjal, is your statement above medically correct or ist an educated guess? Are you sure that tunica heals properly for some but not some others? If so, how can one distinguish the two? Could so-called naturally healing patients be a victim to wrong diagnosis to begin with?

I've had this curve about a month after a possible injury but it hasn't got "worse" and it has yet to hurt once. Could this still likely not be peyronie's or not likely?

Skjaldborg

sikkidik,

It's medically correct in that, statistically, if every minor penile injury resulted in Peyronie's, there would be many, many more cases of the disease instead of the 5% - 13% rate of incidence now reported. Penises get bent, twisted, and exposed to other trauma all the time, yet Peyronie's does not occur in some men. Genetics and other factors may play a roll in this. Here is a quote from the Levine study in our resource library:

"The pathogenesis of Peyronie's disease is not clearly understood, but the current paradigm suggests that it is a wound-     healing disorder occurring in a genetically susceptible individual whose tunica albuginea responds inappropriately to an inciting event, most commonly trauma, with a proliferative fibrotic reaction resulting in an exuberant, inelastic scar that does not resolve"

-Skjald

sikkidik

Skjal, do you think soneone who never cause micro injury to his penis may not get a Peyronies Disease started at all, even though he us genetically disposed for it. That is, if there is no wound then wound healing disorder should not present itself, right? Or maybe it does not present itself untill age 50 something because they never injured tunica before that age. Interesting.

Old Man

sikkidik:

Yes, there are some cases of Peyronies Disease being contracted even though the person never had any major trauma. Uros have now determined that Peyronies Disease can develop due to the micro tears that occur with rough sex, and mostly with the girl on top position.

Others may different opinions, IMHO, the above is absolutely possible.
