Hi,
We're new to the Peyronies group.  I was wondering what is better, traction or VED?  Before I plunk down that large amount of money I want to know which works better.  Also, what brand(s) work best.  Thanks for your help!!

Maybe it's a lot of money but it's a long-term investment. You are going to have to treat Peyronies Disease for the rest of your life anyway. Buy both and try both. Then you see what works best / better for you.

I've been reading and it seems that people are using both! So at over $300 each, which one should I get first.  The one that we should start using right away?

RM,
My personal preference is the VED. It takes only 20 minutes a day. Traction takes hours per day. I could manage 20 minutes of "alone time" in the bathroom easier than 4-6 hours traction in loose clothing every day. Both are good. Time and ease of use are what will make you decide. And, you can build your own VED for about $50. You can't build your own traction device at all.

I'm using the 'Soma Vitality' VED for the last 3 months. It seems well made, is very easy to use and control the vacuum.  Google it. As you can see it does not cost 300 dollars  :)

Thanks guys!

I guess we'll try the VED first.  I, too, was worried about the hours and hours that traction requires.  My husband just doesn't have that much time and he's not going to ware it at work...

Are you able to estimate how much curvature he has?

I'm not sure how to do that, but it's really not that bad compared to the pictures on the internet that I've seen. However I think it's getting worse.  I know the "dent" is getting worse and he has trouble keeping an erection.  Also he's in pain.  :(  He's worried that stretching his penis will hurt even worse.  But I'm telling him that it will only get worse if he does nothing (i.e. take vit. E and just wait and see, which is what our stupid Dr. told us to do).

I'm thinking of buying a nice VED and trying that first since it seems to be the most comfortable and the time required isn't that much.  After a month or so of that I'm going to sneak in a traction device (those seem to have better results) that he can use for a longer period of time.  Hopefully by then he'll be used to using a device so he won't balk too bad.  :)

It will be good to add to the VED Pentox, low dose Cialis and Ubiquinol.

Thank you James!!!

I'm trying to find a doc here in Louisville that will prescribe him the Pentox and the Cialis.  I just bought him Ubiquinol last night and I'm still trying to sell him on the VED.  :)

RMBeckwith,

Please keep us posted on your husband's progress and best of luck with it.  He's very lucky to have you.  You mentioned in a post below:  "...I'm going to sneak in a traction device (those seem to have better results)..."

I'm considering traction for myself and I'm curious how you reached the conclusion that traction seems to have better results.  I would appreciate hearing your thoughts on this.

best,

I am using both traction and a VED. My urologist believes that traction is better because of the longer periods of time that you apply stretch. I do not use a noose type of device to secure my glands but use a vacuum type device (Vac3 Extension ) instead. The noose was too uncomfortable and I did not like strangling my penis with it. I believe that the traction is helping me straighten out and regain some lost length.

I am using a VED with the protocols from this site (thanks OldMan) and I believe that the VED is helping restore girth.

Of course I can't really be sure which device is doing what but I am seeing improvement and I am going to continue to use both. Along with the recommended supplements and Pentox, I am throwing everything I can at my Peyronies Disease and will not quit.

Hi Guys!

Well from days and days of reading what everyone else was posting it seems that people are saying they like the traction devises better then the VEDs...however the VEDs seem to be more comfortable and more convenient, since the time required is much less.

We did go see another Urologist yesterday and he basically said the same thing the last dr said.  He said that my husband's peyronies was not that bad (only about a 10 degree curvature) and he didn't think any prescriptions or traction devises are needed.

He said the pain will go away and it will not get any worse.  He did not say the curvature will go away, but he said that since the curvature is so slight and the fact that it does not interfere with intercourse we don't need medication or traction.  He did give my husband a sample of cealis....only because I asked for it.

So I guess we're back to where we were in the beginning.....

RM- You are back at the beginning, and you will get more help here than from most Uro's. 10 % is minimal but leaving it untreated is not the answer. All literature says you need multiple hours for traction to be effective. For most that is not possible, so I operate under the theory that anything is better then nothing. I work long hours, but most days I wear traction for 1 hr while drinking coffee and getting ready for the day, followed by 15 min. of VED. This practice along with some oral treatment has helped to arrest the curve and to some degree make it better. This takes discipline and work. It seems like you have the right attitude, to get this done. Tell your husband not to put too much faith in Doc's, after all the sign outside their door says "practicing". Regards Inkhorn

RM, get another urologist ASAP. You can find one on this site that will likely prescribe Pentox along with traction, supplements and possible a VED. I am not that good with the technical aspects but I know there is a list on this site which is where I found my urologist in the Philadelphia area. Anyone, please jump in and help RM with a link.

Waiting is a very bad idea. Have your husband attack this immediately with everything he can.

I am sure the two doctors you encountered were giving different treatment to themselves than just wait!!!
