Hi everyone,
I wrote for the first time in this forum today, to reply to a post from someone else in NZ where support is invisible it would seem. The majority of what follows was contained in that post.
I have been reading and researching via the forum for sometime but wanted to take some action with regards to my own condition before I posted here.
I first developed symptoms about 18 months ago, but was somewhat in denial and as the impact wasn't great for me in terms of pain or sexual performance (I am 64 and my wife and I no longer have an active sex life), I took some time to approach a doctor. I have some hour-glassing and a 45 degree bend upwards, but little or no pain. There is evidence of some plaque or small lumps just below the hour glassing on one side. I had been taking glucosamine and Chondroitin for a couple of years prior to having symptoms and am suspicious of that as a trigger to a possible genetic component. I have no knowledge of any familial examples of Peyronies. Nor have I injured my penis.
About 4 months ago I went to my GP and mentioned my concerns and based on a verbal description of my symptoms, she immediately diagnosed Peyronies. She said I was the second patient in the past couple of months that had visited her with Peyronies, and that she had on behalf of the other man, written to the Urology Department at Auckland hospital ( Publicly funded Health) seeking an appointment there. The Urology Department indicated that they would not treat or even make an appointment for prospective Peyronies patients.
It seems to be an expensive lottery with private Urologists and I have decided to proceed, based on advise from this forum, with a regime of oral medication to at least prevent the condition progressing.
As I was dealing with another medical condition at the time I first saw the doctor four months ago, she declined to put me on Pentox (available in NZ as Trental) until my other issue (high blood pressure)was under control.
Today I visited my doctor again armed with printouts from this web site about Pentox and  Cialis, which are the two drugs a doctor's prescription are necessary for. The doctor was happy with my blood pressure and prescribed me a 3 months course of Trental, which is the most she could prescribe at one time. She wants me to come back in a month to evaluate the Trental, before she will prescribe Cialis. I have been taking vitamin E 400 mg  and L Arginine 1000mg x2 daily, but not Ubiquinol, however I did take COQ10 but  developed a rash and stopped taking it. I may try Ubiquinol as my age may dictate it as more suitable for my body to absorb.
The Trental cost $18NZ for 60 400mg tablets from my local pharmacy.
I think I would be devastated if I was younger and more sexually active, but even at my age and in my circumstances sometimes feel isolated in terms of effective affordable help. My wife is sympathetic, supportive and undemanding, which makes my situation less traumatic than it could so easily have been.
I think this forum is invaluable as a resource and certainly here in Auckland represents the best collective source of wisdom for treatment.
I am grateful to all members and particularly the experienced contributors for their collective wisdom and support.
Best wishes.

Rob- Welcome to the forum. As Knight says you seem to be on the right path. My concern is the no sex life if you are only 64. I'm 62 and as horny as I was 30 years ago, and my wife of 35 years (although 7 years my junior) is ready when I am. Old Man here on the forum who is 84, tells me at my age I should be at the peak of sexual activity. Please tell us more of why there is no sex, or send me a pm, maybe we can get you back in the saddle. Regards Inkhorn
