Age 56, acquired Peyronies Disease February 2012, so 1 1/2 years ago. Onset was so sudden, really freaky. Hourglass indentation with an erection, I'm like, what is THAT?! Took about a year to overcome the psychological aversion to having sex. Fortunately slight pain went away after about six months. Wife of 20 years had started working evenings, so our sex was infrequent anyway and with the four kids all school age, propagation was no longer the driving force. My libido had been in decline since hitting 50 anyway, so neither of us are frustrated with infrequent sex now, at least she hasn't complained. But I am able to perform adequately the occasional times when she needs it, no pain, starting to be able to maintain full erection better, weak erection was really due to the psychological aversion. Just the shape is weird, not really bent or curved too bad (always had a slight downward curve anyway), just the weird hourglass indentation shape about 1/3 of way down from tip, just below head. Did not decrease length, just changed the shape of shaft. Can feel the hard lump on both sides, especially when flaccid. Getting used to my new shape, but miss the old one. Read about Peyronies Disease on-line to educate myself, told my doctor, he asked if I wanted to go to a urologist, I said I didn't think it was a big enough problem yet, that I would just wait and see what happens. I keep checking on-line to see what develops for treatment. Have been taking vitamin E and Fish Oil orally for about a year. And saw palmetto extract (Opti-Prostate) for last several months, which really seems to help my prostate situation. I can pee better, and don't have to get up to go during the night when taking it, even if I drink eight ounces of tea before bed, so happy about that. Highly recommend for us older gents. Do still get strong nocturnal erections, so I don't have, what is it called? -- erectile dysfunction? Did try a sample viagra-type pill once during my aversion period, but it didn't seem to do anything. Hope this post isn't too long.

No, your post is not too long :)
Taking vitamin E and fish oil is good for general health but don't have too much to do with Peyronies.
I was advising you to see a good Peyronies expert to see what can be done to get back your shape.
You are from the lucky ones that didn't lost length and girth until now and don't have ED, a treatment will help to stop progression of the disease.
Regarding Saw Palmetto I just started taking, advice from the forum, happy to read it helps you with urinating because I am waking up every two hours (at least) and tired all day long. How many you are taking per day? I have to 450 mg capsules.

Go to my blog and look at the picture posted of a 24 year single young man. He had peyronies with hourglassing. That sounds like what you have.

As for a doctor do not go to a general practice urologist you need a Male Sexual Function Specialist.

Once you see the picture send me an email and I can send you futher information on doctors and treatments. Yes, there is hope and help.

As for Saw Palmetto, I have been taking it for about 20 years. About 2 years ago I thought I needed another prostate reduction (TURP). Dr. Milam at Vanderbilt put me through some test and come to find out it was not my prostate but over active bladder. He said I should never need another TURP.

Good Luck and remember. Never - Ever give up! There is hope and help.

yep me too,

Many of us can relate. I'll be 58 soon and developed this 6 years ago. Many of develop severe curves and are not able to have sex. So if you are able I would encourage you to stay sexually active with your wife. I know libidos decline and couples slowly slip into an 'acceptance' state of little if any sex.

My wife and I are involved in counseling and I'm amazed at the times one spouse says "I just thought he/she simply lost interest in me".

Stay active, and read up on VED therapy. There are pros/cons of traction and VED here on the forum, but for your symptoms and hour glassing I always lean towards recommending VED therapy. Feel free to PM 'Old Man' here on the forum. He is the long term VED expert.

Thanks for the replies.  I was skeptical about trying the saw palmetto, but man, it worked immediately!  When my first bottle ran out, I thought I'd see what happens, and dribble dribble, up at night happened. So ordered more, and now a happy pee-er again.

I just take one pill a day, I don't know the mg dose, I'd have to look. Oh, 320mg. It's OptiProstrate XTS brand.

The vitamin E I take for joints, etc. and thought it couldn't hurt for the Peyronies Disease, and the Fish Oil and Niacin I take to ward off bad cholesterol, as I'm just borderline, not bad enough for real drugs. Vitamin C daily to fight off colds, and Zinc drops whenever I get a sniffle (amen to that stuff). I'm 5'9", 167 lbs, always had been skinny scrawny until mid-life. Flu shot yearly (amen again). Before 50, I took no supplements of any kind ever.

It seems lately (just last couple weeks) I've got maybe compensation happening for the side plaque constriction with a new bulge out the back side above the hourglass. Now it looks like a spawning salmon shape. Quite a metamorphosis going on.
