I'm getting a blood test soon to see which levels are inadequate and to see if all the meds and supps I'm taking are hurting my liver. What levels and things do I need to be tested for exactly? What are the blood levels of interest in Peyronies sufferers? Vitamin D, testosterone, and what else?

Also, what levels do I need to look for for my liver's health? Or kidneys or whatever other organs are of interest or at risk for us Peyronies Disease pill poppers?

Thanks in advance.

In any test report they are giving the "Healthy range" and your results.
Regarding liver, in my opinion you should consult a doctor.

Unfortunately there are no lab markers for peyronies.  All you can really do is make sure you have nothing else going on that could be making matters worse.

Okay, can anyone provide a list of blood levels of interest for people with Peyronies though? Like Vitamin D, testoserone, etc. Do I just ask for a regular blood test, or do I have to specify everything I want to be tested for? I'm asking on here because every doctor and urologist I've seen knows almost nothing about Peyronies.

Craig,

I discussed that issue here: https://www.peyroniesforum.net/index.php/topic,3052.msg47106.html#msg47106

When you have the tests done, the written results will have ranges that will tell you where you're at.

I highly recommend this particular blood panel because it will tell you a lot about what's going on in your body.

Thanks Matt, but is this blood test specifically for testosterone?

MattFoley

Craig, if you take a look at the link you'll easily see that it's not only for testosterone but instead for a wide variety of tests that will tell you the most important issues related to your overall health and specially what may have caused Peyronie's and how to fight back.

The full blood panel is a battle plan that will tell you how to fight your enemy.

Thanks Matt. For the link you posted, is that the full blood panel? And are some of those blood levels mentioned in the link, for your liver? I want to see if my liver's alright and if all the stuff I'm taking is affecting it.

MattFoley

Craig, none of those tests I posted would check your liver but if you want to have your liver checked, just ask the doctor to add a liver function test to the blood panel test.

Good luck.

Okay I will definitely do that. And is there a kidney function blood test you can get as well?

As for my liver, I'm thinking of starting Milk Thistle as I hear its a good liver detoxifier, but I still don't know much about the supplement.

MattFoley

Yes, there is a kidney function test as well. Ask your doctor to add that to your blood panel.

The liver detox and kidney detox products I use are as follows:

(1) Liver detox:

Natural Balance - "Liver Sense"

(2) Kidney detox:

Solaray - "Kidney Blend SP-6"

These two products are solid, strong supplements that will do their advertised job.

Thanks Matt, I will probably order these products if there's any cause for concern in my blood test results. I have the order for the blood test, but my doctor said the blood tests I want done are extremely expensive. Does anyone know how much these tests cost? I'm getting all the tests Matt posted the link to, as well as liver function and kidney function tests.

MattFoley

Craig, yes, the tests can be expensive so having health insurance or some type of expanded Medi-Cal is very helpful.

Apparently the tests I got done were only like $600 something and will be mostly covered by insurance. If you don't get a doctor's order, its $900 something. This is no big deal, as the doctor I saw beforehand gave me the impression that the prostate cancer test alone was like $20,000 or something.
