Excision with Graft

Hi, I am 55 years old and had the excision and graft surgery back in November 2012 for Peyronies Disease. I experienced a loss in length of approx. 2 inches and now have an even more deformed penis with excessive skin that hangs down on the bottom side in all states. I am no longer able to have an erection without aide. I was prescribed Cialis, even though I have a heart condition and am on two different types of Nitrates. I was told I had to use it or loose, so I quit taking my Nitrates and would take Cialis, wait a few days and take my Nitrates again. Sex is now possible, but my erections are pointed to the extreme left, the same direction as the original bend. When erect my pen us can be moved from my left to a straight position, but cannot be moved to the right. I also have a 1/4 inch hard knot on the surgical side that gives me an itch I cannot scratch and after a day of just moving around it becomes sore at night so I sleep with a pillow between my legs. I was told the knot is a stitch that has not dissolved. That knot also causes a raw feeling during and after sex and can become quite sore. Before I had the surgery, I did go through a series of shots every week for 6 weeks, and the location I was given the shots is not the same place as the graft.

It's been over 5 months and I am not too sure about my current Doctor. Should I just give it more time?

Sorry to hear about this, I would probably give it more time.  But talking to another doctor would not hurt either and might help ease your mind.  I hope the surgeon was a Peyronies Disease specialist ?   If you are comfortable let us know who performed the procedure.  You might benefit from pentox, or ved, or it might be too early, I'm not sure.

Have you tried abstaining from sex for a few months.   It is possible you are causing micro tears,  I believe full recovery from surgery can take up to a year, and that assumes you do not re injure from sex activity.  And penile injuries can be slow to heal since it is a dynamic organ (varies in size).

Hang in there, and remember slow and steady wins the race !

VeryBest,

It is important to know who did your surgery and how many of these does he do a year?  Please post that information or if you are hesitant to post it for some reason send me a Personal Message by clicking on my name to the left and clicking Send personal message.

Thanks

pentox
I'm not really sure what that is, but I am now doing Penile Self-Injection. What it has on the bottle PAPA75/PHEN2.5/PGE25MCG. It does work, but I have considerable soreness and irratation after intercourse due to the internal stitch and excess skin that just hangs down.

Because of the progression of disease I was not able to have intercourse after July 2012. Caused too much discomfort for myself and it hurt my little woman. Surgery was November 28th, 2012. First attempt after surgery was March 1 2013.

Thank You for the encouragement. This forum has actually made me feel better about this. My Doctor made it sound like this was no big deal and at my last appointment - today - he said I was the only one that has had these type of problems. Yeah, right.

Going to try this again. I looked for the best reconstructive surgeon that I could find in the Midwest who knows something about Peyronies Disease , Dr. Steven Brandes in St. Louis. I am confident this guy can help and have a new surgery scheduled in mid-August. While I was at my appointment I met another person with Peyronies Disease as well and whom was referred to Dr. Brandes by another Urologist several hundred miles away. Speaking with someone else having Peyronies Disease face to face was really quite up lifting. That in itself and knowing that another Urologist recommended him makes me feel more confident in this doctor.

They are not treating this as a day surgery, but going to keep me for a day or two in the hospital. I do think part of my complications in part was by the after care, there wasn't any. The first surgery was done in November 2012 with my first follow up appointment not scheduled until February 2013. When I was getting ready to leave the hospital after the first surgery, I was bleeding pretty good, and the nurse just handed me a handful of gauze, then I repacked it myself.

Sure, here's some good info on him ...

My personal experience with him so far, is he is a no-nonsense guy and he doesn't have a  problem telling you what he can and cannot do and by what others say he is the best there is in the Midwest.

...in my case, I really needed someone that knew something about reconstruction, because my prior surgery was not successful and resulted in some other deformities as well as discomfort.

A word of advice...don't see a Central Kansas Urologist for Peyronies Disease, at the least don't let him anywhere near a knife :).

As I am living now half the glob far from Kansas, don't have such a chance :). But it is a helpful advice for other members.
If is not too much a load, please make a post on "Urologists and other doctors" board regarding the subject. I am sure it will help other members to avoid mistakes.
