hi all
as far back as i can remember i have always had a slight bend in my penis. i used to think that this was a pretty normal thing, just part of what makes me individual.
it wasn't until october 2011, when i was 18 that i came upon an internet site that had a picture of a penis that was pretty much identical to mine, having a 30 degree upward curve. as you can imagine, i was extremely distressed when i read the accompanying blurb to this image that gave me the unofficial diagnosis of peyronie's. i did a fair bit of internet research and discovered this forum.

in november 2011 i saw my GP, showing him both my flaccid penis and a picture of my erection. he said that the curve was pretty pronounced, but to not worry about it. i assumed that he was not well versed in the subject.
I plucked up the courage to see a specialist about 4 months later, showing him both the picture and my flaccid penis. he said that he couldn't fully diagnose my condition as peyronie's, as he couldn't tell for certain the presence of plaque.

the appearance of my flaccid penis causes me a bit of concern. it is quite long, with veins which have become increasingly large and prominent in recent times. there appears to be a slight dent in the left side when flaccid, but it is hard to tell.
my erect penis doesn't seem to have any dents or hourglassing in it, but has the curve, the veinage, and seems to be thinner at the base.
i also have a family history of dupetrons contracture in the hand, and have a very mild bend in my little finger of my right hand.

Since discovering the condition, i have gone through a few periods of depression and uncertainty about my future. i am a very shy person, and have never had sex.
in recent weeks i have noticed that my penis leans to the left slightly when it is erect, and i fear that plaque may be causing the base of the penis to weaken. my penis seems strange in that it has to be very erect for it to 'stand up' fully, i cannot explain this, but am scared of the possible consequences.

i have concluded that it i should try and be proactive, and try the VED mentioned by meny of the members on this forum. i have not noticed any change in length or girth in my penis, and don't have much trouble getting erections. i am in need of advice and other people's opinions.
thanks a lot

Welcome to the forum.
What you are describing may be Peyronies or congenital curvature.
You are right, your GP, like many other doctors, don't have any idea what Peyronies is. Don't be surprised!
The treatment is very different for congenital curvature than Peyronies.
Some of the things you are writing (dent, thinner at the base, dupetrons) may point to Peyronies but you need to see a real Peyronies specialist to know what it is.
How the specialist has diagnosed you? Did he made an ultrasound in flaccid?
You should be proactive as you are writting, but you need to know what you have first.

... up to 18 months.
Hi Everyone. I'm a 57 year old Australian and have just discovered your website today. I have had peyronies since early 2012. I'm in a long term (26 years) relationship and it's very frustrating. It's hard to believe in this day and age of medical research and breakthroughs that a cure has not yet been found. I am travelling to the USA early next year and discovered your web site as I was researching peyronies specialists in NY.

Hey Aussie, I'm glad you made it to the party.  ;)

May I recommend you create an initial thread about yourself and your symptoms in this section so we can learn about your situation and also to see what advice we can offer you? Assuming of course you would like some tips and ideas from the rest of the members.  :)

Welcome and God bless.

Regarding acute stage.
I had it for 24 months and after a break of a few months it comes back (the acute stage).
As ThisWontWork wrote "up to 18 months" but in many cases is longer and in many cases it  restarts :(
