Hi guys,
I was diagnosed with Peyronies about 1 year ago. I may have had the condition developing for a considerable time but the initial symptoms were mild.  Saw my GP who sent me to Uro. Neither were helpful at all, no treatment suggested. Saw a Ultrasound technician  who offered me ESWT which I did with no effect. Now have extensive plaque. Very depressed about the situation as the condition is now well established. Not sure which therapy to try next. I am due to see Uro again soon. Any help appreciated.

Hi Ozy,

Sorry you have to deal with this disease. It's no fun at all. I got it after an injury at age 29 (now 33). Many on this board have found success with the following:

1. Pentoxyfylline: This is an oral medication that has been shown to reduce scar tissue size and in some cases reduce curvature. It works by reducing inflammation by stopping the formation of a chemical called Transforming growth factor beta (TGF-β), while also making the red blood cells more "squishy" so they can bring nutrients and oxygen to small capillaries in the penis. It is recommended that you print out the research studies located here Pentox - Dr. Lue Case Study / Levine mentions his use of Pentox - Peyronies Society Forums on pentoxyfylline and show these to your doctor. Showing a urologist these studies is much more effective than saying "I heard about this from some guy on the internet." It is a relatively inexpensive drug with generally few side effects other than mild stomach upset.

2. Cialis/Viagra: In addition to helping with erections, Cialis and Viagra have a similar effect to pentoxyfylline in that they stop inflammation. Some members here take a very low dose of Cialis daily.

3. VED: Vacuum erection device. This is a small pump with cylinders used to induce erection. This treatment brings blood flow into penis which helps encourage healing and helps "remodel" the scar tissue to improve curvature from Peyronie's disease. There is a protocol posted here PROTOCOL FOR 3 CYLINDER MEDICAL VED'S, 26 WEEK - Peyronies Society Forums that shows exactly how to use the VED for best results.

4. Surgery: In cases of severe Peyronie's with erectile dysfunction that does not respond to medication, implant surgery is a final option. Some members here have had very good results from this surgery, but it is truly only a final option when all else fails.

There are other treatment option listed on the forums, these are just the ones considered most effective based on our informal polls. I have only used option 1, pentoxyfylline, and it significantly reduced scar tissue size, got rid of my pain and I have experienced some improvement in appearance over time. I suggest reviewing the boards here and asking questions to find out which option may work best for you. Good luck and feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

Best,

I was adding to the treatment that Skjaldborg proposing you Ubiquinol (or CoQ10 if you are younger than 40) and Acetyl L-Carnitine.
Myself taking also L-Arginine.
The improvements are slow, don't expect fast action and begin treatment as soon as you can.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I will investigate Pentox and the other medication listed. Also I had read the threads on VED and will investigate this. Am not sure of which VED might be best option?  I am using CoQ10 and will try the other supplements too.
