I think I have developed peyronies disease. About a year ago I noticed a small hard bb like lump on the right side of my penis about a half inch behind the head. At first it hurt when I had an erection but after a few months the pain went away but the lump has remained. Now I notice that when
I  am erect my penis has a slight curve to the left. About 15 - 20 degrees. I have no loss of girth or indentations. If it stays this way and doesn't get any worse I could live with it but i'm scared it will get worse. I am so stressed out over this that i can't even get a strong erection anymore although I usually wake up with one in the morning. To top it off I have been single for about 2 years and I just recently met a women that I think i'm falling in love with. The thought that I might not be able to pursue a relationship with her because of this problem has me in unreal emotional distress. I have been doing a lot of reading on the subject and I read that a small percentage of men have this problem go away by itself. Is that true? Has anyone ever been on here and had that occur? Is this most likely going to get worse or is there a good chance it will stay the same? I think it's been about a year but i'm not sure it could be a few months more than that. I recall that I did have a very tender spot in that area after having fairly rough sex one night about a month or two before i noticed the lump. Is it a good sign that the pain went away by itself?  I guess I am going to see a specialist about this and I want to find the best one. I live near NY City so I have no problem getting there. I see Columbia Presbyterian has a Peroynies dept should I go there?

I forgot to mention I am 45 years old.

You need a diagnosis by one of the top peyronies specialist in the country. A Male Sexual Function / Urodynamic Specialist. Unfortunately there are only 4 or 5 in the country. The closest to you would be Dr. Montague at Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland OH. The very best in the world is Dr. Douglas Milam at Vanderbilt in Nashville TN.

The first thing you need to do is start the VED protocol. It is posted in the VED section of this forum and on my blog.

Yes about 1/3 of men that develop a peyronies curve will have it straighten on it's own. I am one of those.  That could happen at about 18 months. The problem when it straightens is you will loose penile size. That is one reason to start the VED now.

In my opinion let the lady you are interested in know the problem. If she really cares about you she will be more than glad to stand by you.

Mark  -   You came to the right place.  This forum will provide you with a lot of good information.  Columbia Presbyterian may require a referral.  My friend Mike, a member of this forum, lives in NYC and just finished with implant surgery.  He also knows what is available in NYC for treatment of Peyronies Disease.  I will call and email him and I am sure he will be in touch soon.  DO NOT GET discouraged.  Read every article on this forum, especially about Pentox, supplements, surgery, alternative treatment regimens etc.  4 years ago I was sexually nonfunctional - today I am completely recovered and enjoy a renewed sexual relationship with my wife of 25 years.  It all began here.    I will send you a personal message later with more personal information. Good luck and God speed.

So it doesn't sound like there is much chance of the problem just staying this way and not getting worse. Thats really what I was hoping for. I haven't lost any length or girth.

Ok so I just read on one of Dr Levine's web sites that its possible that I could be stabilized at this point. My ED has only been present for about 4 or 5 days and i'm pretty sure that could be just because i've been an emotional wreck.I usually wake up with a good erection in the AM. I have also been on a beta blocker for about 5 years so maybe I can lower the dosage and possibly get a viagra prescription if necessary. But I will do the ved too and go get an official diagnosis. I appreciate all the help. This is like a a nightmare come true. I am juggling so many problems right now and this is just piling it on. I'm really surprised that I never heard of this problem until it happened to me. There are so many men suffering with this you would think it would get some attention from the mainstream media. I wonder if it's that way in Europe too? If it goes badly I just hope I can function long enough to get my relationship with this woman going before I have major problems.

You may be right regarding your ED.
Regarding stabilized Peyronies, I would like to say that after 24 or 30 months mine stabilized and at 36 or 37 (now at 43) my curvature begin to worsen again. It is very rare but can happen.

Yes, Peyronies is also in Europe and everywhere in the world where have men  ;D
You, the people that are living in the US are lucky, you have the best doctors by far from any other place I know.

Find a good doctor and begin a treatment!!!

Go to the doctor that prescribed the beta blocker for you and get him to change your medicine.

One of the side effects of a beta blocker is peyronies. The other is ED. A change in medication may be all you need for the ED.

As I look back before peyronies I was on a beta blocker for some time. On of the other side effects is you will notice wheezing. With my last heart stent, in February, I ran into Obamacare when I was being released from the hospital. Obamacare dictates you be put on a beta blocker after a heart stent. It took the doctor and nurses two hours to convince them I was allergic to it before they would let me leave the hospital with my regular heart medication. DUH !!! The beta blocker may have contributed to my peyronies just don't know anything else.

Well I sent a message to Cornell Medical Center in NY for an appt. I told them that Dr Eid was recommended to me. After he evaluates my situation I will discuss the Metoprolol situation with my regular dr. The problem there is over the years I had been on a plethora of blood pressure meds and the Metoprolol provided much better results than anything else. Even though I am praying that this turns out to be something I can live with and function normally it is a great comfort to read about the positive results that some of you have had with your implants.  I am thinking that since my plaque is so close to the tip of my penis that maybe that could mean that my symptoms might not get as severe as a someone who has it mid shaft? Anyway I don't know what I would have done without this forum. Thanks.

I can just say that my ED begin from taking beta blocker.
It regressed somehow when I stopped, but the damage was already done.

It is really hard for me to really come to the actual denominator of what caused me to have Erectile dysfunction.Onset of the disease at 44 i was having no erections for about 8 months. Then one day i had one and it was pinched and bent i believe from constriction trauma. From reading and some views from other sites i truly thought metopropol that i had been taking for ten yearsvwas the causevof my Peyronie's. So i quit taking it for a year and no substitute would be prescribed by any doctor. One doctor laughed and said that was a myth and many guy have it and life is fine for them.Eventually i was released from the clinic for not following doctors orders taking metopropol and using cialis with out a prescription.

today i do not use cialis and i am back on a heavy dose of metopropol and i am doing fine.Erections are no problem but still have Peyronie's. I am not saying metopropol did not have a factor in what happened to me.I know a symptom can be Ed but feel there were other factors taking a toll on my body as well. Heart disease,  diabetes, and alcoholism had a big part in Peyronie's becoming a part of my life as well.I have been sober going on seven months now and my body is healing nicely.

I know it is thought that metopropol shuts down some immune channel's  may be a fact i do not know. But there are many things that can comprimise the immune system.bThere is not a doubt invmy mind that there are multi factors causing Peyronie's. Just like there is no silver bullet cure there are no 1,2, and 3 cause Peyronie's.

I suppose what i am trying to say if they do not change your medication do not freak thinking it is the cause.Could be a factor and played a role but chances are the perfect storm will not return.I know the information i found and others from the forum giving me information overwhelmed me about betablockers particularly Metopropol.I decided to take it again after no doctor would replace it,  oh one did offer Atenolol which is on some of the guys
list also. This is just my view and my experience i am not trying to make people angry or say they are wrong. If i had my way i would not be on metopropol nor any betablocker. The fact that it is suppose to extend a heart patients life is reason enough for me to continue.

I am happy that you don't have ED problems anymore.
The medication that my doctor prescribed me is Finasteride that after taking it it lowered my libido almost to zero and my ED problems started. I also started to grow new black hairs on my bold head and other parts of my body, my hairs were never black (brown to reddish).
I begin searching by the Internet and to my surprise, ED and hair growth are the main warnings for this medication. Stopping it, my ED begin to regress.
So in my case, this is definitely what stated my ED.

I have an appt to see dr Eid in about 3 weeks. At that time I can probably get a prescription for a medical grade ved and my insurance will cover it. Should I wait till then or buy one now?

Mark M

Actually according to Dr Eids web site he doesn't even mention ved therapy.

Mark M:

I would suggest waiting until you see your uro before purchasing a VED. Make sure that you make him understand that if  he prescribes a three cylinder VED he should  specify it is to be used for ED NOT Peyronies Disease. Some insurance companies will not pay for a VED when used for Peyronies Disease. Most one cylinder VEDs do not require a prescription especially the over the counter models.

There are several sources of medical grade quality VEDs on the market. Their sources have been posted in the VED board section of the home page index of boards, topics/threads.

Ask any and all questions your might have about VEDs and their use. We are here to help in any way.
