I found this on the AMS site. I thought I have heard a pop several times when deflating, so this proves it.

Forced deflation maneuver
Start the process by pushing the deflate button on the pump located in your scrotum to reset the poppet valve
After you have pushed the deflate button, then try to activate the pump by giving it a hard, fast, and vigorous squeeze. You may hear or feel a "pop"
Push the deflate button while simultaneously squeezing and twisting the cylinders in the shaft of the penis, holding for approximately 30 seconds. A rush of fluid should move through the pump and the device will begin to cycle normally
If necessary, return to step 1. You may try this maneuver numerous times

I am not sure I followed the point of these instructions, but it reminds me of an issue I have had on a few occasions.

I have gone to inflate only to find that my pump bulb was VERY hard to squeeze.  It was almost rock hard as though I was inflated to the max.  The first time this happened, I was concerned that I had a pump failure, but I vaguely remembered an old post or an article I read years ago dealing with this issue.  I squeezed and held my deflate button and squeezed the pump bulb several times while holding down the deflate button.  It totally fixed the issue.  At no point did I hear a "pop" however.
