I was just approved by insurance to begin Xiaflex injections (not yet scheduled) and have been using RestoreX for about 4 weeks.  I am fairly active with running and strength training 5/6 days a week.  Are there any limitations to continuing these activities during the Xiaflex injection timeframe?  Although there are obvious physical health benefits, exercise has been a tremendous mental health boost, especially while dealing with Peyronie's Disease.  I'm hopeful that I can continue with these activities. Grateful if anyone can share their thoughts or experiences about this.

Best regards

I do not have any experience in regards to Xiaflex but Dr Trost would be the one to address this question to. I would assume that any healthy lifestyle that you are accustomed to would not hinder you. I do know from reading that Xiaflex has a limited window of it's effectiveness when it comes to post therapy/traction. It can also cause pain and bruising. It all depends on the Dr who is administering this to you. I would highly recommend Dr Trost for this procedure if at all possible. He has a very high success rate and has adopted his own set of techniques for getting the best results.

Thanks for your comments.  Yes, it would be great to have Dr Trost do this if he accepts my insurance.  The Xiaflex website mentions "Avoid situations that may cause you to strain your stomach (abdominal) muscles, such as
straining during bowel movements."  Since many forms of exercise include abdominal muscles I was wondering what impact exercise would have on injection recovery and what length of time this should be avoided.  Hoping someone here can share their knowledge or experience.

I don't have an exact answer for you but i would say as with any medical treatment that you are not sure about, just err on the side of caution. Waiting a few days or a week in between injections to start being active again (if you have swelling) wouldn't be a bad idea. At least until you can get confirmation from a Dr. that it is safe.

Thanks for the helpful responses.  I also ran this by Dr. Trost who indicated that generally he doesn't normally restrict people as far as exercise.  He cautioned against getting the dressing wet (i.e., no swimming unless the person can dry it with a hair dryer afterwards), but other than that there usually aren't any other restrictions.  In some cases, if there is a big bruise / hematoma, it may be uncomfortable to exercise, but in most cases, it won't be an issue at all. I'm relieved that exercise can continue with caution!

I went on a two hour bike ride the day of my 1st round of shots. I was on a road bike and I did HIT; 4 minutes on and one minute rest. My Dr. said that I would have no problems.
