Good day,

First post, long time reader.

I run a lot, such as in ultramarathons and regularly run 10+ miles per effort. It seems like I am more fatigued this year versus previous. The big change is 3 rounds of Xiaflex treatments so far in the last 4 or so months. I can still run and do what I want, but the efforts are more difficult and tougher the attain. I just don't have the pep or bounce per sey.

Anyone else finding fatigue or strength and endurance issues with your sports performances?

Thank you in advance. Great forum of information. Glad I found this place.

The warning label from Endo mentions localized side effects (swelling, brusing, hematoma etc) and the possibility of an allergic reaction to Xiaflex that can cause hives, low back pain and dizziness. The enzyme itself is supposedly active for only a few days after injection so these effects should in theory be transient.

Question: did you decrease or stop running during the periods between injections? I've run two marathons, took a couple of weeks off after each of them and then getting back into running was a real PITA. Have you had an annual physical of late including bloodwork?

Last but not least, and I hate to say this, butyour signature says you are 45 years old. Time will do things to a person that really are a witch. I used to drive a golf ball 300 yards and having no problem seeing it. Now I'm Mr. Magoo and have to ask playing partners where my ball went.... ???

I would not attribute this to Xiaflex but I would say you need to look elsewhere. Possibly some blood work on your hormone levels? From articles posted in the Urology Times there is a 10 to 40% prevalence of testosterone deficiency in adult men.
