Had First Urology Appointment

Hey friends!

Had my first Peyronie's specialist appointment today. It was a very good appointment, just wanted to summarize:

1) he doesn't think I have congenital curve - just peyronies. He did a physical exam and could very clearly feel plaque in a few places on my penis. He said he could tell I have some lost length and likely girth too, especially since my injury happened during puberty ages.

2) RestoreX, especially with tadalafil has a ton of potential but he still wants to see more research before it's his main suggestion to people. I told him I've been on that treatment for a month and have seen tremendous results. He said that is not the norm but after seeing my early treatment photos and my most recent photo, he was pretty shocked for not even being four weeks yet.

3) my curve was around 30-35 degrees. He said even with some mild pain and soreness, he wouldn't recommend treatment besides restoreX. Now that my curve is under 20 degrees, he said absolutely no other treatment. He only recommends Xiaflex when penetration is difficult or moderate pain and above. Even with discomfort with my partner, he said it's often not worth the risks.

4) he said even 15+ years after injury, stuff can change on his own. He said of his patients, about 75% stay the same, 12.5% get better, and 12.5% get worse. Basically said I should count myself lucky for now quickly I'm  seeing fairly drastic improvement.

5) he said he isn't super concerned about my hinge - just be careful when my partner is on top during sex. In his experience, there really isn't a strong correlation between hinge and future injury, since sometimes it hinging can stop it from bigger hurt.

6) I definitely also have a dent on the bottom but it doesn't seem to be impacting my urethra or anything for it to be a cause of concern outside of normal peyronies stuff. He's hopeful restorex will help that but basically said don't get my hopes up that it will go away.

7) he said, "not to discourage you, but I wouldn't be surprised if your improvement slows down soon. It's rare for someone to look perfectly straight; especially coming from 30 degrees or above." Still going to use RestoreX and Cialis for at least 6 months but he just wanted to be straight with me from what he has seen.

8) he's glad I consulted my PCP before starting RestoreX at least and that my PCP encouraged me to try it AND get with urologist.

9) he said no real need for ultrasound since I'm getting better already, I don't have moderate to severe ED, and he can easily feel my plaque. He did point out I have at least three plaques and it causes my penis to twist a bit, in addition to my down curve.

10) he also stated it looks like my frenulum is tight and that might play a role in my downward curve, but again, not worth the risks to do anything about that. If it is a problem, or becomes more of a problem as I go on, make another appointment and we will go over options.

He wants to see me in a year if no other issues arise, but besides that, he's very pleased with how RestoreX is working. He thinks I'll continue to gain length and girth too.

I have a journal in the traction sub folder with photos if anyone is interested.

Man! This was such a nice account to read. I fully agree with your doctor in all he said. Definitely continue with traction and Cialis. I will be looking forward to reading your posts and hopefully you will keep having gains.

I would just add that other than being careful with sex you should enjoy as much as you can. Stay safe and please keep sharing those periodic updates!

Thank you, all!

Hopeful for the future! Even if progress stops, I'll be pretty happy given the soreness from sex stays away.

Forgot to mention - I'm in 5mg cialis and I think it's too much honestly. Sex drive too high, way too many boners, and lasting an unnatural amount of time during sex (to the point that it's like, alright, we have the job done, let's wrap this up haha)

But the urologist doesn't want to change it. He said it's clearly working and as long as it isn't interfering with work/family/etc to an unhealthy/uncomfortable point, keep going at current dose. We are going to move me to 2.5mg after we stop seeing improvements though.

He seemed to recommend cialis long term, even without many ED symptoms to promote penile health and blood flow. Don't love that but if it helps and is good for me, I'll give it a shot.

Try splitting the cialis pills in half and see what happens. It is definitely not good if you have erections that last longer than you want. You face a risk of building up to a priapism. Remember Cialis last in the system far more than other similar drugs so with 5mg pills you can take them Monday, Wednesday, Friday. This way save money and maybe it will suit you better.

So I asked doctor about that and he said I'm no where near at danger of any effects because of the erections. They don't last long, I can generally make them go away when I want, but it's just WAY more than before. But I'm also getting my testosterone levels figured out (just got them tested this week and they're at good level finally) so I think it's just going from very few erections to many.

But he said to try to keep it up because it could be that making a big difference in my healing. Who knows. If it continues to be too annoying or anything though 2.5 or skipping a day are all options.

Also, probably too much info, but I've never had super long endurance in the bedroom and it's worked for us. I can control it usually but like having the option of finishing whenever I want. We aren't talking about me going at it for hours here, just longer than before. We used to have much longer sex but with a bunch of little kids in the home, that's just exhausting and we need our sleep haha

Great write up man and happy to hear about your progress! I like the doctors approach. Only thing I would disagree with is when he said the hinge doesn't usually cause further injury. I think you'll find the opposite from guys with a hinge on this forum-including me. The hinge makes it a lot more risky and more injury causes more plaque usually.
