Hi everyone,

I am 54 years old and I have had Peyronie's for a little over 3 years, but did not do anything about it until now (got tired of bent and uncomfortable erections and the limitations the curve creates on my sex life).  It is an upward curve of about 45 degrees.  I always had a bit of a curve naturally, perhaps 10-15 degrees and that was never an issue, but 45 degrees is.

I was looking into shockwave treatment, but where I live there are only Gainswave clinics which I do not believe work at all for this (it does not use focused waves).  The Stoltz Duolith is a focused Class III device I might travel to a clinic that has that one later.

Xiaflex would probably work, but with no health insurance it is $15-20K, so not an option.  There is a generic version, "Collagenase Clostridium Histolyticum," I need to find out if that is available in a nearby country (I am in the US).

I recently purchased a RestoreX and have been using it for about a week.  I have the usual issues of discomfort with the wrap, penis slipping out if not clamped hard enough and glans turning partly purple when clamping harder (and the purple does not seem to go away).  Hopefully I will find a way to use somewhat comfortably and hopefully it will work even though I have had it for over 3 years.  Will post more specific questions in the traction forum.

Welcome jb2222 to the forum. First thing on your list of things to d o is to fill out your signature line -->https://www.peyroniesforum.net/index.php/topic,10819.0.html. This allows members a quick snapshot of your condition and treatments. It will also give you a better response to your questions.

Then second thing is to download and read our survival guide -->https://www.peyroniesforum.net/index.php/topic,3180.0.html . This is a comprehensive list about peyronies and it's different treatments. You need to read it and educate yourself as most urologist do not possess even a fraction of what is contained in this document.

So were you ever diagnosed 3 years ago? Did you have an ultrasound? A lot of men have a natural curve but 45* can make intercourse challenging. I would steer clear of any kind of shockwave therapy. You can spend a lot of $$ and you would be better investing that in other forms of treatment.

VED therapy can have a positive effect on your erections and may help in your curvature a little. I would keep using the Restorex but you need to purchase for yoursef the makeup pads to help with the gripping action of the clamp -->https://www.peyroniesforum.net/index.php/topic,16996.0.html . This will eliminate a lot of your pain/discomfort in using it. Xiaflex does have mixed reviews and can be of some benefit in the hands of a skilled Dr, but the cost is very $$$. Read the forum about members reviews of it.

It is good that you are taking an active interest in your recovery but you must remember that this is a marathon and not a sprint. If you think that in a few weeks you will be restored you it just doesn't work that way. I would also keep surgery as a last option. You should also see if you could get into a real peyronies specialist if at all possible.

Thanks for your information, Mikel7.

I have not had ultrasound, so I guess I don't know for sure if there is scar tissue, but why else would the penis go from 10-15% natural curve to 45% very suddenly?  Note: I went to Gainswave clinic for a free consultation and the doctor did palpate and said there was scar tissue, but I myself cannot tell (not sure what it should feel like when there is / is not scar tissue).
